Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1810: Steps [Bonus]

Chapter 1810: Steps [Bonus]

[A/N When will this stop? Leave me be]

The skies slammed closed as though in response to Sylas' Will. Spacetime wove into a fabric, forming a mesh of the Mesh of Reality that sewed it shut complete.

Flashes of darkness and crimson danced in Sylas' eyes, his focus sharpening as power coursed through his body. However, even with all his momentum, Sylas made no attempt to complete his third and last Comprehension.

Glassvolt had been somewhat useful to him in the past. But now, it was even less so than before. Because he now had Willborne Intelligence, the positive percentage boost he gained to his Intelligence from it was worthless.

In addition, he didn't feel like the additional effects that might come with a Comprehension were worthwhile.

What was clear from how far his Comprehension boosts had fallen was that beyond the F-tier, and probably even going into the D-tiers and beyond, the value of a Comprehension was less in the direct stat boost and more in the auxiliary functions he could produce.

When things were looked at through that lens, then Sylas had to consider the value of his Comprehensions based on what external abilities they had.

Glassvolt should have allowed him to control more powerful Glassvolt Aether, be more precise in his control, maybe even make it more potent.

But what was the point of that when, if Sylas really wanted to, he could conjure up D-Grade Glassvolt? It would just require tapping into some ability of Primus Imperium.

He wouldn't even have to take the risk to do that if he managed to start mastering D-Grade Rune Mastery.

However, Sylas simply wasn't interested in chasing the most powerful Aether he could, at least not for now. What he was far more interested in was shoring up his foundation and taking steps forward to craft a path that would allow him to reach D-tier as quickly as possible.

Soon, he would have that chance.

Step one, though, was certainly figuring out how to draw E-tier Physical Genes.

Step two would be figuring out how to reform his Gene Talents-not because he used them and relied on them frequently, but instead because they had once been the backbone of his Bloodline and Royal Hero Line.

In the transition, Pride of the Monkey King, Aetherborne Will, and Blade Aura had all been swallowed by the Wheel of Fortune and become a part of his Foundation much like the vast majority of his Titles.

Step three was certainly to find a way to get Skill Progenitor back. It was because of Skill Progenitor that he was able to pierce the ceiling of many techniques, make them his own, and reach beyond just Legendary Mastery.

But now, it too had been swallowed into his foundation, which he hadn't been expecting.

Though Sylas had never had the time to truly master Skills, it had to be remembered that that would likely be changing now with the help of Seeing Weaver allowing him to use his Rune Mastery as a proxy for understanding the world around him.

Theoretically, that would accelerate his Skill comprehension manifold. So even if he hadn't perfected Mixed Demonic Arts-or Mixed Chaotic Arts now-he should be able to reach decent mastery in his Skills quite speedily.

As such, having Skill Progenitor would be of utmost importance...

Especially since he had lost [Madness Control] and seemingly also [Maddened Enlightenment] now.

Those two Skills were far too valuable for him to ignore, so he needed to build an E-tier version of them as quickly as possible.

The more Sylas thought, the more he realized that the list of things he had to do was truly impossibly long. He hadn't even thought about his Rune Armors yet and finally perfecting his Emerald Scorpion or Chaotic Ape Armors to reform the Genes he had once had for him.

Every tier came with a shocking upgrade in strength, but the cost of that was the gutting of a lot of what had made you so powerful in the previous tier.

Sylas had been untouchable in the F-tier before. Though he couldn't confirm, he was sure that even Demi-God F- tiers would fall before him. But he couldn't say the same in the E-tier anymore.

Not until he took what was his back.

But before all of that...

Sylas finally turned his attention to the outside world. A violent uprising was taking place, but this wasn't too much of a surprise.

Just before he progressed to E-tier, he had used his control over the Spacetime in this Secret Realm to forcefully teleport a City Stele to him.

In reality, this was a lot easier explained than what was involved. Cities of a certain scale, in general, would always have strong protections against teleportations. This was especially so in an area as heavily guarded as the City Stele.

On top of that, the City Stele wasn't just some normal floating block you could pluck away whenever you wanted. It was protected by a system.

The only way to move it was to first get there-likely by defeating anyone protecting itโ€”and then breaking down the barrier protecting it. At that point, some might even ask you to wait a period of time in order to prove a certain level of control while the City Lord was probably being pinged to oblivion, and then only then would you be given the option to conquer or not.

Somehow, Sylas had bypassed all of that.

How?

This Secret Realm was even more vulnerable to his Scorned Wraps than the impotent system was, and...

This place was precisely the region he had learned how to maximize his Spacetime abilities and Progenitor Flames in the first place. It was here he earned the reward that granted him a compact tree of Spacetime to study and master.

And it was also because he had mastered these things that he had been able to survive the E-tier Secret Realm in the first place. Otherwise, the Duchess and the Duke would have been far too powerful for him to deal with.

That was to say that the moment he got here...

Everything was already over.

Sylas raised a palm and the skies shook.

He had things to do and a Rat to exterminate. He wouldn't be wasting time here.

A shimmering light appeared before Sylas' palm as his Legendary City Stele manifested.
