Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1696: 12,500

Sylas returned to his mansion. Part of him was surprised to see no one there at all, but he didn’t seem to mind it.

In truth, the place was quite grand. In a city as populated as this one, land came at a premium. To have such a large lot, so much space, and still be so luxurious, it could be said that this was easily the equivalent of a property only a billionaire would be able to afford back on Earth. Well, at least before the Summoning.

Yet, Sylas was completely uninterested.

If this was the equivalent to what a billionaire would buy on Earth, someone like Fanelei was the president, or more accurately than that, an Emperor.

Giving him something like this was probably the equivalent of getting 100$ for a birthday gift from a normal person. When you put it like that, if one was supposed to arrive at gratitude from such a thing… they would be hard pressed.

In truth, the fact this mansion was only filled with things F-tiers would need, and nothing that could be considered to be truly valuable to someone liek Fanelei.

By comparison, the D-tier eyes Gralith had given Sylas… they were completely one of a kind. And now that he knew more about Will, he knew just how valuable they were.

If Sylas was correct, those had been Gralith’s path to getting his Spirit Beasts back. Right now that no longer mattered because Sylas had gotten them back for him. But Gralith couldn’t have known at the time Sylas would succeed in such a thing, especially not so fast.

The way Sylas measured things was simply different from other people…

He wasn’t impressed even if he had never seen half of these resources before. If one was speaking of quantity, he had never seen such abundance ever.

There was an entire room of Gene Crystals. He could create as many as he wanted. And with his ability to create Legendary Genes, there simply wasn’t anything holding him back from experimenting as he pleased.

In fact, even if he didn’t have the ability to craft Legendary Genes himself, Fanelei had stocked the house with quite a few of them herself. Of course, they were limited in number. Even the guild didn’t have a truly endless supply.

Even so, there were thousands of each sort. If Sylas truly ran out, he would simply be incompetent.

That said, if a Gene Crystal needed a Legendary Gene, it would likely need far more than that. Genes alone wouldn’t satiate a Gene Crystal. Often you would other sacrificed like Titles and things of the like. Sylas had had to do such a thing in the past as well.

In addition, while there was a wall of Gene Crystals, the largest number of them were Silver Grade. There were just over a hundred or so Gold Grade ones, but there was only a single Legendary Gene Crystal here.

Sylas reached for it and picked it up. He spun it in the palm of his hands, looking at it quite deeply before he stored it away in his Madness Key. Then he took all the Gold ones too.

Why not?

From what he knew, Gene Crystals, depending on their Capacity, could often form a Unique Gene one level higher than itself. These Gold Gene Crystals had Capacities ranging from 4,000 to the high 9,000’s or so.

In the past, Sylas could imagine how he would react to a Gold Gene Crystal with such a high Capacity. It would mean he would need to somehow find or come up with thousands of Gold Genes. But now… That was a matter of a wave of a hand.

The Legendary Gene Crystal, though, had a Capacity of only 12,000, with the upper limit actually designed to be a million from what the Pride Madness Key told him.

This was by far the largest variation in Capacity there was. It made Sylas think that there had to be mroe variation in Legendary Genes than he knew. Just how much were S-Grade Races hiding, exactly?

And what sort of Gene would a Gene Crystal with a Capacity of one million produce?

[Legendary Gene Crystal (F) (Treasure)]

[One’s Genetic Code is a universe within the universe. Endless and vast, the number of meandering paths it can take are uncountable. Use this Bronze Gene Crystal and begin to forge your own path] [Capacity: 12,500]

Sylas thought for a good, long moment. It was quite rare for him to put so much thought into something. But, there was only one of these, and there was no way he was taking the risk of hoping he could use it a second time. He would definitely sacrifice it to ensure success.

So, he would only have on shot at this.

His first thought was to use his Monkey King Armor. He had a Legendary Gene already that had formed from it. But… it felt hollow.

He had formed the Armor when he still had so much room to grow as a Rune Master, and truthfully, he didn’t know if he could do it justice even now.

But then he thought of his Champion Will. What would this Gene Crystal produce if he fed it some aspect of it? The fact his Charisma was irrevocably tied to his Will also meant that any progrss he made with his Will would directly impact it as well. It would be like two birds with a single stone.

However, as Sylas was thinking about that, he remembered something else…

Charysm.

Was it really a good thing for his Charisma to lose so much ground to his Will? To only grow when the latter did?

The ability to evolve your Charisma was also greatly important, was it not? Should he instead try to improve his Charisma?

Or… should he be trying to use his Dao instead and build a real Gene around Pride?

The roads seemed endless but there was only one Legendary Gene Crystal here.

What should he do?
