Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1374: Tools

Chapter 1374: Tools

The sudden change to Vaernon’s aura made several quake. The Will of a Thryskai was one of the more fearsome in all of the universe.

The Skai Eye. It was a manifested Blood Trait, the result of several Unique Genes forming into a single pillar that not only fundamentally changed one’s Race and its limitations, but also the manifestation of one’s strength.

The Skai Eye had a sweeping number of abilities depending on the particular Clan of Thryskai one was speaking of. Below the Demi-God tier, these abilities were often well hidden, not only as a method of self-preservation and protection, but also because they were somewhat amorphous and not quite solidified just yet.

The perfected abilities of the Kaelthar would be more concrete the closer to Demi-God they became. Only then would they truly manifest as they should.

However, there was one thing that all Skai Eyes shared regardless of Thryskai Clan or bloodline branch.

Will Amplification.

It actually wasn’t clear if this was through means of Charisma or purely Will, and often that one ability would likewise be slightly different depending on the branch.

But what was definitely the case was that, depending on the power of a Thryskai, they could amplify their Wills a great deal.

Demi-God Skai Eyes were capable of forming a Will an entire Tier above them, something that even Grade Slayer and King Slayer weren’t capable of allowing.

If Sylas had had such a thing, and could form an E-Grade Will at the F-tier, his power would be orders of magnitude greater than it was now.

Though Mortal Thryskai weren’t capable of such shocking feats, what was clear with Vaernon opening his Skai Eye just a mere sliver was that he was able to leap up not just one, but two Will grades.

From a Forged Will… he leapt up to an Enlightened Will.

An Enlightened E-Grade Will.

Vaernon’s Skai Eye snapped closed as he turned to return to his place. This time, he didn’t look at Sylas; he didn’t care about the latter’s reaction. Right here and now, he was going to show the world the strength of the Thryskai.

Gwenu’s feet lit up.

She took a breath, ready to go forward. But before she could, Sylas placed a palm on her shoulder.

A bit startled, she looked back.

Sylas raised his hands and pointed his spread fingers toward one another, the backs of his hands facing Gwenu.

Slowly, he brought them together, interlocking them.

Dancing sparks of unformed Runes flashed around Sylas’ hands and fingers while Gwenu found herself dazed for a moment, not quite understanding what she was seeing consciously, and yet feeling as though her subconscious was being massaged in all sorts of odd and indescribable ways.

“You already have the tools,” Sylas said calmly, then he gave Gwenu a little push toward the path ahead.

Still in a bit of a daze, she moved forward toward the road and came to a stop. Slowly, a matrix appeared before her and she stared at it for a moment, seemingly not able to comprehend what she was seeing.

It was the easiest of the coming ones, just a mere three-by-three matrix that should have taken her an instant, and yet she just kept staring at it, time ticking by.

Suddenly, at the half-minute mark, she moved, slowly pressing her palms together.

The first matrix was cleared in the oddest way. Normally, one would rearrange the sectors into a configuration where one would be the core and the others would spontaneously fall into its orbit.

But Gwenu instead caused the Runes to begin orbiting instantly. Then, they almost casually fell into the right alignment, twisting about one another until they fit seamlessly.

Then the next matrix appeared, and she repeated it.

Then again.

And then again.

Even up until the ten-by-ten matrix, a complex series of interconnected and yet repulsing Runes lined up one after another until they clicked into place.

Gwenu blinked awake from a bit of a daze, her hands trembling for a moment as she felt a slight drain on her Will—not one nearly enough to cripple her, but one that she wouldn’t have expected for such an early round.

When she saw her results, her eyes opened wide.

If not for the fact Vaernon had been randomly selected to go first, she would have broken the all-time record?!

She was having a hard time wrapping her head around what she had just seen.

Fowler was undefeatable, untouchable even. He was the monarch of Rune Masters across the Sector, the undisputed best of countless generations.

How had things suddenly ended up like this? How had she, of all people, beat him?

She walked back, once again in a daze. Even as others went following her, she could only look at her hands before she slowly looked toward Sylas, who didn’t seem to be paying attention to her at all. He was lost in his own world.

Magnus, however, was truly shaken. This wasn’t good. His job here was to firmly suppress Gwenu, but that record…

One after another, the others went, and soon, it was Magnus’ turn. However…

[Magnus Kaelthar][Time: 00:00:59][Full Points Rewarded]

Magnus walked back with an ashen expression. He didn’t expect that he would have to use his Skai Eye, and expected even less that even when he did so, it wouldn’t be enough.

Technically speaking, their points were still even. They had more, with Vaernon having claimed the all-time record.

But something made Magnus feel incredibly uneasy, and it was about more than just his own ego.

Then… it was finally Sylas’ turn.

Vaernon sneered. Sylas had said that the last round was the last time he would be ranked beneath him. Was that so?

Vaernon would really like to see how that could possibly happen. Hidden E-tier or not, Vaernon didn’t believe there existed a person in this Sector capable of doing such a thing.

Sylas stepped forward, his eyes closed, as a tremor ran through the world.
