Chapter 1013: Resistance and Interest

Chapter 1013: Resistance and Interest

Song Qingshu couldn’t help but chuckle. She really was a proper Jiangnan noble lady.

“Hmph, I’m a Jurchen woman. I don’t have to follow your Han rules. Hurry and tell me.”

Cheng Yaojia pressed her lips together and only shook her head.

Song Qingshu’s eyes turned, and he laughed. “I get it now. Deep down you ‘want’ to sit in my lap, but you’re too shy to say it. So you’re using this excuse to make me keep holding you. Am I right?”

“Of course not!” Cheng Yaojia blurted out. As if to prove her innocence, she added, “My name is Cheng Yaojia. Now you can let me go, right?”

“Cheng Yaojia…what a beautiful name,” Song Qingshu praised. “Didn’t you say just now that aside from your parents, only your husband can know your name? Since you’ve told me… does that mean you want me as your husband?”

Cheng Yaojia burned with shame and anger. “You forced me to say it! Besides… besides, I already have a husband.”

“What’s the problem? Just divorce him. I’ll take you back to the Jin Dynasty and give you the life of a first-rank titled lady.” Song Qingshu grinned, while inwardly lamenting how his roguish mouth always ran ahead of him.

“I don’t want that!” Fearing more people would notice the situation inside the palanquin, Cheng Yaojia instinctively lowered her voice even as she squeaked in panic.

Her reaction only made Song Qingshu more confident. A woman like this seemed awfully easy to deal with.

“If you don’t want a divorce, that’s fine. I don’t mind you staying married to your husband. That kind of ‘achievement’ and ‘conquest’ makes things even more exciting.” Song Qingshu felt that, since he was pretending to be a crude Jin barbarian, acting vulgar fit the part perfectly.

“You… shameless!” Cheng Yaojia trembled with fury. But as a helpless w0man with no strength to resist, she could only try reasoning with him. “Aren’t you Jin people always boasting about honor and credibility? Didn’t you just say that if I answered your question, you’d let me go?”

Song Qingshu wagged a finger in front of her. “Correction: what I said was that if you answered my question, I would ‘consider’ letting you go. I never said I’d definitely let you go.”

“You…!” Cheng Yaojia shook all over. She had never met someone this hateful. He might even rival that Ouyang Ke from back then.

“Well, how about this,” Song Qingshu said. “Answer a few more questions and I’ll put you down. How’s that?”

“No!” Cheng Yaojia turned her head away firmly. “You’re a man of no honor at all. Even if I answer, you won’t let me down.”

“Maybe I will if you answer. But if you don’t answer, I definitely won’t. How would you know unless you try? Or is it like I said before…you actually enjoy staying in my arms?”

“Bah! Shameless!” Cheng Yaojia spat, cheeks burning.

“Then I’ll take that as agreement to our little trade.” Song Qingshu’s voice suddenly hardened. “After you arrived in Yangzhou, did you meet Li Kexiu, the Inspector of Jiangzhe?”

Cheng Yaojia stiffened, blurting out instinctively, “How did you kn…” She cut herself off, realizing the slip.

“Don’t worry about how I know,” Song Qingshu said. “I just do. You think I really went to that temple to admire flowers?”

Cheng Yaojia bit her lip. “Give up. I won’t tell you.”

“Not even if I keep holding you like this?” Song Qingshu tightened his arm around her wai$t. Her abd0men was flat, not a trace of excess flesh. He mused how women who practiced martial arts really did keep their figures well…married for years or not.

Cheng Yaojia shuddered, but her mind was full of national duty. She absolutely could not allow the Jin to gain information. She sealed her lips and refused to say a word.

“You’re a stubborn one,” Song Qingshu said lightly. “Seems just holding you isn’t enough to scare you anymore. Fine, let’s try a different game. From now on, I’ll start counting. If you still don’t speak, then for every ten numbers I’ll take off one piece of your cl0thing. How about that?”

Cheng Yaojia trembled; fear flashed clearly in her eyes.

“Ten… nine… eight… seven…”

With each count, the struggle in her eyes grew, but the matter was too important. If she let any secrets slip, the consequences would be unbearable.

“Looks like you don’t mind being $tripped,” Song Qingshu sneered when he reached one. His hand moved to her collar button.

No man other than her husband had ever touched her like this. Feeling his fingers reach her cl0thing, Cheng Yaojia shook with humiliation and rage.

Song Qingshu intentionally slowed down, magnifying her torment severalfold.

$tripping her wasn’t the real purpose…it was just a way to break her resolve. She didn’t have many layers on. If he peeled them off too quickly before her defenses crumbled, ‘that’ would get awkward.

After all, he only wanted information about the Song envoy’s contact with Li Kexiu, not to actually dishonor the shy woman in his arms.

He removed her outer garment and deliberately lifted it to his nose. “Fragrant. I wonder if the layer cl0sest to your $kin smells even better.”

Even he felt gross saying that. He sounded exactly like a sleazy street thug harassing a decent w0man.

Luckily, he was wearing the identity of Tang Kuo Bian…no threat to his real reputation.

Driven to extreme humiliation and fury, Cheng Yaojia suddenly tried to bite through her own tongue to kill herself and preserve her purity.

Fortunately, Song Qingshu had been watching her closely, afraid he’d pushed too far. In the nick of time he shoved two fingers into her m0uth to block the bite.

Human jaws have impressive force. Since he didn’t dare use inner strength to shock her, he simply tanked the bite with his fingers.

“Hiss…!” Song Qingshu sucked in a cold breath.

When she realized she couldn’t kill herself, Cheng Yaojia didn’t let go…she bit harder.

“Hey! What are you, a dog?” Song Qingshu finally snapped. He brushed her lower jaw to break her bite, pulled his fingers free, and glared at the bloody indentations. “Great. Now I’m even bleeding.”

Seeing the deep marks, Cheng Yaojia was startled she’d done that. A flicker of embarrassment crossed her face…but remembering this detestable man, the guilt vanished. She lifted her chin smugly instead.

Her expression made Song Qingshu’s temper spike. Heat surged to his head, and he grabbed her che$t in one quick motion.

“Hmph, I should at least take some interest back!”
