Chapter 2615 - The Secrets of the Writing Brush of Genesis
Chapter 2615 – The Secrets of the Writing Brush of Genesis
Even as Su Yi’s voice echoed through the air, his movements never slowed. He swung his sword and attacked.
Just a few blinks of the eye later, he’d slain two more enemies.
“Everyone, don’t let that bastard look down on us. So what if we’ve lost a few avatars of will? Even if we’re defeated, what do we have to fear?” The white-haired man in imperial robes took a few steps through the air, seemingly endless golden light erupting around him as he swung a blood-red halberd at Su Yi.
Boom!
Heaven and earth swayed, and the sky collapsed.
As the white-haired old man attacked, his figure caught ablaze, blurred into a streak of light, and fused into his attack.
This raised its power to terrifying heights.
Su Yi swung his sword and clashed with him head on.
A deafening impact followed, and Su Yi was forced back.
A deep, regretful sigh emanated from the blood-red halberd. A moment later, it fell from the sky and split into pieces.
Yet another prominent expert’s avatar had been destroyed!
Even after choosing to aim for mutual destruction, he merely managed to shake Su Yi. He couldn’t actually damage him.
Many of the experts felt helpless. Unless a true Eternal attacked, it seemed none of them could defeat Su Yi!
Half-Step Eternals, False Eternals, Eternals’ avatars and clones… none of them could cut it!
“Allow me!” A black-robed Daoist with a prominent mustache took to the sky.
He took out a talisman that shone like a purple cloud, fused his avatar of will into it, and descended upon Su Yi.
But it was to no avail. A single slash destroyed the talisman, dimming its power.
Su Yi, meanwhile, just swayed on his feet. He still wasn’t injured!
But those higher-ups seemed to throw all caution to the wind. All of them chose to aim for mutual destruction.
From a distance, it was as if one blazing sun after another came crashing down to earth.
Su Yi, meanwhile, suffered impact after impact, forcing him further and further back.
But he never dodged, instead swinging his sword and clashing with each burning avatar with all his might.
He might have been forced back repeatedly, and he might have looked wretched, but all of those attacks represented a destroyed Eternal avatar of will!
Within just ten snaps of the fingers, only Lu Shi and Yu Chiyang remained.
Even the short old man playing the zither was dead; Su Yi had killed him after his music grew too unpleasant to listen to.
“Do you think killing our avatars of will can change anything in the God Domain?” Yu Chiyang bellowed, his gaze terrifying to behold. “If so, you’re mistaken! The Myriad Daos Alliance will send all of its forces to crush Sunset Perch Island and execute you!”
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, this expert of the Court of the Southern Heavens attacked.
His avatar of will suddenly transformed into nine blazing stars. They swept through the sky and descended upon Su Yi.
This attack was far more terrifying than those Su Yi had faced before.
Still, Su Yi made no attempt to dodge. His expression showed neither joy nor sorrow, his face as tranquil as the waters of an ancient well. He just swung his sword, stirring up an invisible, surging current of sword force.
He really had been using his strength. He wasn’t holding back.
But he hadn’t reached his limit, either!
His opponents had destroyed themselves without managing to injure him or make him sense a true threat. They certainly hadn’t forced him to attack without reservations!
Over the course of this fierce battle, Su Yi had repeatedly gauged his own abilities.
Now, when Yu Chiyang transformed into nine stars and attacked, Su Yi finally felt a true threat.
Boom!
Heaven and earth caved in. All of creation dimmed.
The nine stars exploded, one after another, then withered and dissipated.
Su Yi, meanwhile, was blasted tens of thousands of feet away. His handsome face paled, and his blood and qi churned.
Nonetheless, he whispered, “In the end, that’s the best you could manage.”
He sounded a bit disappointed, and indeed, he was. He’d hoped to use this fierce combat to grasp the opportunity he needed to prove his Dao and enter Eternity.
But now, he realized he’d gotten carried away. A bunch of old-timers’ avatars of will were in no way enough to temper him through combat!
Clouds of dust and smoke billowed over the fragmented, blood-soaked landscape.
Only Dao Venerate Lu Shi remained. The other Eternals’ avatars of will had all been destroyed.
Dao Venerate Lu Shi gazed at the distant man in blue, a complicated look on his face. He’d fallen uncharacteristically silent.
The handsome young man stood there. He too was silent.
The time had come to end this battle.
Wang Zhiwu had witnessed the whole exchange. He, too, felt utterly astonished.
“Now, I roughly understand what you said back then.” Lu Shi watched Su Yi’s approach and sighed.
After the curtains fell on their battle at the Tianxiu Sword Shrine, Lu Shi said that grasping Su Yi’s strength meant that he hadn’t made this trip in vain. Su Yi responded, “The me of today is not like the me of yesterday. Similarly, the me of tomorrow will be nothing like the me of today,. Your knowledge of the current me will surely be overturned another day, so what good is it?”
Lu Shi hadn’t thought anything of it. All he said was, “Unless you can step into Eternity prior to the Dark Days of Legend, it won’t matter how much you change. I’ll still be able to anticipate it.”
But when he looked back at it now, he suddenly understood the weight of Su Yi’s words.
He now felt as if his understanding of Su Yi had been completely turned on his head!
Su Yi pondered briefly, then quickly grasped what Lu Shi was referring to.
He shook his head slightly. “I’m still weak. I’m far weaker than your true body. All I can do now is bully your avatar of will.”
Wang Zhiwu’s lips twitched. He’s started with that blasted modesty again!
Look around the God Domain! What other Master God can bully an Eternal’s avatar of will?
No, never mind the Master Gods. What False Eternal could have done this?
You’re seriously calling yourself weak?”
Lu Shi was stunned too. Then, he said, “To tell the truth, looking at you now, it isn’t just your strength that’s transformed. You seem starkly different from before.”
Wang Zhiwu suddenly felt like someone else finally understood. He felt the same way when he faced Su Yi!
“Time changes everything, including people. There’s ultimately no point even discussing all this,” said Su Yi. He stopped one thousand feet from Dao Venerate Lu Shi and said, “Why didn’t you bring the Dipankara Buddha, Di E, and the others?”
Lu Shi’s expression shifted. “The Dipankara Buddha left half a month ago. Not even I know where he went. And Di E… is finishing his preparations for the Battle for Order.”
Su Yi nodded, not willing to waste any more time on idle chatter. He just raised the Sword of Proximity and said, “If you please.
Dao Venerate Lu Shi shook his head. “No need to fight any longer. I admit defeat, but first, there’s something I’d like to tell you.”
Su Yi lowered the Sword of Proximity. “What is it?”
“I have one of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos, the Writing Pen of Genesis, in my possession,” said Lu Shi, a strange light in his eyes. “I couldn’t have reached my current heights in the Grand Dao without it.”
Su Yi was stunned. The Writing Brush of Genesis was the first of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos, and it had been missing since the earliest days of the Immortal Realm’s history.
Su Yi had always wondered what had happened to it and who had acquired it.
Now, he finally understood!
“The Nine Mysteries of Chaos represent the Nine Laws of Chaos of the Immortal Realm,” said Lu Shi. “The Writing Brush of Genesis is the first of the nine. It contains the secrets of the Immortal Realm’s origins.
“Unfortunately, I only just now realized that to fully grasp the mysteries of the Immortal Realm’s origins, one must first acquire the complete set of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos.
“Alas, by the time I realized it, I’d long since stepped into Eternity. I realized the truth too late, and missed far too many opportunities.”
Here, he paused to gaze intently at Su Yi. “But to the best of my knowledge, the other eight treasures have fallen into your hands.”
“That’s right.” Su Yi nodded.
He finally understood why Lu Shi would bring up the Writing Brush of Genesis now of all times. He was eyeing the Mysteries of Chaos that Su Yi had gathered!
“I’d like to make a deal with you when the Battle for Order begins,” said Lu Shi. “If I lose, the Writing Brush of Genesis is yours. If you lose, the rest of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos are mine. What do you say?”
Su Yi mulled that over, then said, “Let’s see when the time comes.”
He’d left some of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos in the Immortal Realm. He still wasn’t sure whether he could retrieve them all before the Battle for Order began or not.
“Very well,” said Lu Shi. “Let’s discuss it then.”
As he spoke, he silently caught ablaze. In the end, he scattered into a rain of light.
From beginning to end, he said nothing nasty, expressed neither bitterness nor anger, and made no threats. He just calmly told Su Yi about the Writing Brush of Genesis and set his avatar of blaze.
In terms of comportment, he was far beyond the others.
But that just made it all the more dangerous to underestimate him. At the very least, Su Yi knew better than to look down on Lu Shi.
“That guy is far more terrifying than the others,” said Wang Zhiwu as he approached from afar. “Lu Shi isn’t the strongest on the River of Destiny, nor is he the most famous, but I once asked the Red-Robed Heavenly Sovereign about him. Do you know how the Red-Robed Sovereign appraised him?”
Before Su Yi could respond, Wang Zhiwu continued, “He said that Lu Shi has the bearing of a dragon or phoenix, with innate talent for the Grand Dao, the power to overwhelm others of the same level, and unwavering perseverance. He warned me not to underestimate him.”
Su Yi couldn’t help but find this surprising. The Red-Robed Heavenly Sovereign isn’t just one of the nine Heavenly Sovereigns of the Eternal Heavens Domain; he’s the only person Wang Zhiwu respects.
Who could have imagined that someone like that would appraise Lu Shi so highly?
This high praise made it obvious how capable Lu Shi was.
“Of course, he’s still a bit inferior to me,” laughed Wang Zhiwu.
Su Yi ignored this, then turned and gazed into the distance.
The avatars and clones had been destroyed, but the Angler and the other Master Gods who’d come here with Lu Shi remained!
