Chapter 2572 – Making Things Difficult.

The escaped Master Gods all looked utterly jubilant and excited.

“Sword Venerate Su, thank you so much for saving us! We’ll carve this benevolence into our hearts and remember it for the rest of our lives!” Liao Yuanshan faced Su Yi and bowed solemnly.

The others reacted as if awakening from a dream, bowing to Su Yi one by one.

“Many thanks, Sword Venerate Su!”

…Their voices rose and fell in waves, echoing throughout heaven and earth. A long time passed before they faded away.

The Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor saw it all. His heart was full of ruefulness. Both in terms of strength and in terms of prestige, Brother Fuyou has far surpassed his past lives!

Zhi Xun took a deep breath, then stepped forth, smiled, and clasped his fist in greeting. “This humble one is High Elder Zhi Xun of Heavenly Yao Tower. Greetings, Fellow Daoist Su.”

The atmosphere silently shifted. Liao Yuanshan and the other Master Gods’ expressions were unsightly. They were visibly enraged.

It was Heavenly Yao Tower who’d captured them and tossed them into the pit. How could they not be furious to see their captors again now?

Several of those Su Yi had saved were from Heavenly Yao Tower, and they all emerged from the crowd and rejoined Zhi Xun.

Su Yi took all of this in, then pointed to the rescued Heavenly Yao Tower experts. “I saved their lives. How do you plan to repay me for this act of benevolence?”

Silence greeted his declaration. All eyes were on Zhi Xun and his allies.

Zhi Xun froze, stunned, his expression a bit unnatural. After a while, he coughed dryly. “You saved their lives. We’ll naturally reward you generously!”

Su Yi inclined his head. “Very well. I saved six of your Master Gods. Give me six second-tier Fragments of Heaven’s Will and sixty third-tier fragments, and I’ll call us even.”

Gasp!

Gasps arose throughout the crowd.

Second-tier Fragments of Heaven’s Will were rare and precious. Although no small number of them had fallen across the God Domain, there were too many wolves for far too little meat.

Third-tier fragments were the most ordinary kind, but they were relatively rare too, and Master Gods would fight tooth and nail over them wherever they appeared.

Yet now, Su Yi was demanding so many of them at once. Who wouldn’t have been astonished?

Many of those in the crowd even expected Su Yi was deliberately targeting Heavenly Yao Tower!

Zhi Xun’s expression stiffened considerably. He forcefully suppressed his fury, plastered a smile on his face, and said, “We do indeed have a few Fragments of Heaven’s Will, but it’s far from enough to satisfy your demands. How about we compensate you with other treasures?”

“Whatever else we might say about you, Heavenly Yao Tower is a spacetime forbidden zone. You can’t even spare a few Fragments of Heaven’s Will?” the Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor said with displeasure.

He understood Su Yi’s personality. There was no way he’d demand repayment like this unless he had good reason for it.

For him to do this meant that there was a grudge between him and Heavenly Yao Tower!

The atmosphere grew stifled. The experts of Heavenly Yao Tower exchanged glances, then looked at Zhi Xun.

“Forgive us, but… we cannot fulfil this request,” said Zhi Xun with a grimace.

“You can’t?” The Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor laughed coldly. “It seems to me that, in your eyes, the Master Gods we saved just aren’t worth opening a vein for.”

When you fought someone, you targeted the heart first.

And those words were brutally effective.

Zhi Xun’s expression darkened. “Fellow Daoist, please mind your tongue!”

One of his companions, a man in black, couldn’t help but say, “You saved our sectmates. We’re naturally grateful, and we’ll be sure to repay you, but your demands are unreasonable. This is blatant extortion. You’re… you’re asking for way too much!”

Su Yi laughed. “I saved their lives, and I can naturally un-save their lives, too. If you cannot repay me with sufficient sincerity, I’ll just send them back into the pit.”

The rescued Heavenly Yao Tower experts looked stricken. They’d only just escaped the pit. Who’d willingly return to the perilous Heaven-Combating Hidden Realm?

By now, it was obvious to everyone that Su Yi was deliberately making trouble for Heavenly Yao Tower!

Zhi Xun took a deep breath, then said, “Fellow Daoist Su, we’re sincerely grateful, but please, don’t forget your manners, and don’t…”

“High Elder, don’t!” One of the rescued Heavenly Yao Towers frantically stepped out of the crowd and interrupted Zhi Xun.

Zhi Xun frowned with intense displeasure, but then, the man who’d stepped forth transmitted him an account of everything Su Yi did in the Heaven-Combating Hidden Realm, leaving Zhi Xun completely gobsmacked.

His expression shifted dramatically. One man, alone save for his sword, fought his way through the chaos fiends’ territory, slaying Chaos Kings and Fiend Lords alike?

Not even Half-Step Eternals were any match for him?

An irrepressible chill coursed through Zhi Xun’s entire body.

He looked around and discovered that all of the Master Gods in the crowd were looking at him pityingly, as if gazing upon a clown!

This made Zhi Xun uncomfortable, but he was now convinced that Su Yi wasn’t bluffing. Yes, he was blatantly trying to extort them, but he had reason to be confident!

Zhi Xun took a moment to calm himself, then said, “I have to report this to the sect and ask for further orders, but I’ll be back with your compensation as soon as possible, Fellow Daoist!”

It was obvious to everyone that he was backing down. He didn’t dare to use Heavenly Yao Tower’s power and influence to threaten Su Yi!

“You have fifteen minutes,” said Su Yi. “If I don’t see compensation by the time fifteen minutes is up, I’ll take it as you abandoning the sectmates I saved.”

Zhi Xun naturally dared not hesitate. He and his companions turned and dashed off.

Hong Taiyu walked up and said softly, “Fellow Daoist, Heavenly Yao Tower has ‘One Who Entered the Chamber’ overseeing things. It seems to me that you’d best avoid a grudge with them.”

He was from Five Lightning Temple, a fellow spacetime forbidden zone of the Barren Mountains of Divine Calamity. He naturally understood Heavenly Yao Temple well.

“It’s fine,” said Su Yi, not the least bit concerned.

Those Who’d Entered the Chamber were merely False Eternals, and at this stage of the Dark Days of Legend, they still couldn’t leave their spacetime forbidden zones. How could Su Yi possibly be afraid of them?

He was making trouble for Heavenly Yao Tower for the simple reason that the way they’d preyed on random Master Gods was utterly detestable.

Su Yi wasn’t some brainless do-gooder. He’d saved Heavenly Yao Tower’s experts, but he naturally wouldn’t do it for free. At the very least, he had to make them pay a bit of a price.

While he was at it, he could help Liao Yuanshan and the others they’d abused vent.

That’s all there was to it.

“Everyone, you can leave now.” Su Yi turned to look at the Master Gods he’d saved. “I don’t need your gratitude. Go on and leave.”

Many of them inwardly sighed in relief. After seeing how he’d dealt with Heavenly Yao Tower, many of them tensed for fear that he’d demand repayment from them, too.

But now, it seemed that they’d overthought things. Saving them meant nothing to Su Yi at all!

It was also clear that Su Yi had specifically been targeting Heavenly Yao Tower.

Many of the Master Gods stepped forth to bid Su Yi farewell. Then, they left, one by one.

However, several of them chose to stay behind to help Su Yi face Heavenly Yao Tower.

Su Yi said nothing on the matter.

It was the Heavenly Yao Tower experts who suffered the most. All of them hung their heads, unsure of what to do.

Before long, a group whooshed over from the distant sky. High Elder Zhi Xun had returned with a few new terrifying figures. These were obviously high-ranking members of Heavenly Yao Tower!

Many of those present silently tensed.

“Fellow Daoist Su, Heavenly Yao Tower only has three second-tier Fragments of Heaven’s Will, as well as twenty-two third-tier fragments. We brought all of them with us.” Zhi Xun stepped forth and bowed, an apologetic look on his face. “Please give us a little time. We’ll be sure to gather the rest within a month!”

The crowd exchanged glances, their expressions suddenly strange.

They didn’t even need to think to know that, after learning of Su Yi’s shocking accomplishments in the Heaven-Combating Hidden Realm, Heavenly Yao Tower had decided to lower its head. They no longer dared to act up!

“Also, we prepared a few rare Undying medicinal herbs as an expression of our gratitude. Please accept them with a smile, Fellow Daoist.”

As he spoke, Zhi Xun proffered two bags of holding. One contained Fragments of Heaven’s Will, the other, rare Undying medicines.

Both bags floated over to Su Yi. All eyes were instantly upon him.

Su Yi looked at Zhi Xun and gestured to the bags. “I have no idea how many fragments Heavenly Yao Tower really has, but I see that this is all the experts I saved are worth to you.”

The rescued Heavenly Yao Tower experts’ faces stiffened with discomfort. High Elder Zhi Xun and the others said nothing, but their expressions were unsightly.

“Enough. This ends here.” Su Yi put away the two bags of holding. “You can leave now.”

Zhi Xun and his allies felt a massive weight lift from their shoulders. All of them inwardly sighed in relief.

Without any further hesitation, they gathered up the experts Su Yi had saved and dashed off.

The crowd behind Su Yi watched this all play out, their hearts churning with emotion. Heavenly Yao Tower is a faction of another spacetime, yet even when Sword Venerate Su extorted them, they didn’t dare to have a falling out with him!

If word spreads, it’s sure to send a wave of uproar sweeping across the entire God Domain!

“Disperse, all of you. Let’s go, Ol’ Toad,” said Su Yi.

He and the Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor turned to leave when Hong Taiyu hurriedly called out. “Please wait, Fellow Daoist.”

“Do you have business with me?”

“Five Lightning Temple lies deep within the Barren Mountains of Divine Calamity. If possible, I’d love to show you my hospitality as a modest expression of my gratitude.” Hong Taiyu said solemnly, “That aside, I have something of the utmost importance to discuss with you.”

Su Yi was stunned. Something of the utmost importance?

He pondered briefly, then inclined his head. “I’ll just have to trouble you, then.”
