First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2549 - Comparing Rules

Chapter 2549 – Comparing Rules

There were seven of them in total, each with an aura more terrifying than the one before.

The leader of the group, a man with silver hair, didn’t waste any time on chatter. He just commanded directly, “Put them both to death!”

Then, the silver-haired man walked over to the girl in yellow and said gently, “Young Mistress Min, those two outsiders didn’t spoil your mood, did they?”

The girl furrowed her brow and was just about to say something when… Boom!

The silver-haired man’s six companions attacked without hesitation. All of them drew their treasures and launched them at Su Yi and Hu Taizhong.

They didn’t even try to talk. Why bother? After all, they were just casually squishing a pair of ants.

“We’re finished!” Hu Taizhong’s heart filled with despair.

This was Five Lightning Temple. They were endlessly tyrannical; anyone who entered their territory died. They wouldn’t give you any chance to negotiate or explain yourself!

In the face of this onslaught, Su Yi raised an eyebrow, then swung his sleeve.

Kaboom!

A sword rain descended from the heavens. All six experts died instantly, brutally slain on the spot.

The falling sword qi left the ground riddled with holes so deep, there was no bottom in sight.

Hu Taizhong was stunned.

Off in the distance, the silver-haired man’s expression changed dramatically, while the girl in yellow silently tensed.

The Xiezhi-like beast suddenly crouched, its fur standing on end. Its murderous intent rose into the firmament as it shielded the young woman.

All of them looked at Su Yi differently.

“Who are you? Why oppose Five Lightning Temple?” roared the silver-haired man.

Hu Taizhong shouted back, “We’re just passing through. We did nothing at all. You’re the ones who targeted us! One word out of turn, and you tried to eradicate us! Yet now you’re accusing us of ‘opposing’ you? Have you no shame?”

Five Lightning Temple really was conducting themselves far too tyrannically. Earlier, Hu Taizhong had assumed he was doomed!

Now that he’d escaped a brush with death, he could no longer suppress his fury. He went all out, rebuking the other party to his heart’s content.

“We long since announced that all who trespass in our territory must die! You broke our rules. That’s why we’re targeting you!” The silver-haired man glowered murderously.

Hu Taizhong was just about to argue when Su Yi waved his hand through the air.

Boom!

A streak of sword qi exploded into being, slaying the silver-haired man on the spot.

As easy as cutting a blade of grass.

The girl’s face paled, and her delicate frame quivered uncontrollably. The Xiezhi-like beast was startled too, fully alert and on guard.

Hu Taizhong, meanwhile, was completely flabbergasted. Five Lightning Temple might be tyrannical, but His Excellency is unquestionably even more tyrannical!

He couldn’t even be bothered to waste time talking to them. He just swung his arm and slaughtered a whole group of Five Lightning Temple experts. That’s what they call ‘crisp and direct!’

It’s shocking!

It was then that Su Yi finally spoke. “Before the Dark Days of Legend, this territory did not belong to Five Lightning Temple. If you want to proclaim it your exclusive territory and refuse others entry, go right ahead—but make sure you’re worthy of staking such claims, first.”

The girl’s face paled. She clutched at her skirts, too nervous to even speak.

The Xiezhi-like beast said gravely, “It isn’t up to you to decide whether Five Lightning Temple is worthy or not!”

Su Yi chuckled, stretched out his hand, and grabbed.

Boom!

A giant hand descended from the heavens, suppressing the creature.

Its hair stood on end, and it roared, its blood and qi surging as it erupted with enough power to shake both heaven and earth. It had a cultivation base comparable to a Seven-Tribulation Undying Realm Master God!

Hu Taizhong gasped. A girl’s beast companion, that’s all, yet it’s comparable to a Master God!?

But a moment later, Hu Taizhong was stunned, because beneath Su Yi’s palm, the beast’s ferocious majesty popped like paper window panelling, its massive frame splayed against the ground. Wounds tore open, staining its fur red.

But just as it was about to be smushed flat…

Boom!

An earth-shaking impact rang out, like a sudden thunderclap booming throughout the nine heavens.

A streak of blue electricity arrived even faster than the sound, like an apocalyptic spear. It shattered Su Yi’s palm imprint, saving the pinned creature in the nick of time.

Even so, the beast lay sprawled out on the ground, bleeding from multiple wounds. Throughout its body, countless bones had snapped, and it barely clung to life.

When its blood-red eyes looked at Su Yi now, they were full of terror. Just… Just what kind of person is this?

A cold, dignified voice boomed throughout heaven and earth. “You brazen madman! How dare you commit murder in Five Lightning Temple’s territories! Unforgivable!”

A black-robed man swathed entirely in a blue, electric power of the Laws appeared out of nowhere.

“Patriarch!” The beast cried out excitedly.

The girl in yellow visibly sighed in relief, too.

“Don’t be afraid. Now that I’m here, both of them must die!” the man in black said icily.

He raised a perfectly cubical Daoist Seal, then activated it, sending it flying at Su Yi.

Boom!

The seal fired endless arcs of electricity, searingly bright and resplendent. They stung the eyes, and their power was enough to destroy both heaven and earth.

It was like the lightning of divine punishment!

Su Yi extended and flicked his finger.

Bang!!

The lightning filling the sky exploded like fireworks, vanishing in a flash. The seal, meanwhile, split into pieces.

The black-robed man suffered a backlash and coughed up blood. His expression filled with disbelief.

He might not have been the strongest expert in Five Lightning Temple, but he was still a Nine-Tribulation Master God! Who could have imagined that his treasure would shatter in an instant, making him suffer a backlash?

He stared at Su Yi. Who is that guy? Why is he so terrifying?

The beast had been excited, but now, its enormous eyes widened.

The girl in yellow looked dazed. Her eyes were full of dread and unease.

Hu Taizhong, meanwhile, went mad with delight. He’d initially assumed that “His Excellency” was strong, but that he’d struggle to escape disaster in the face of an enormous entity like Five Lightning Temple.

Now, it seemed that wasn’t the case at all!

Su Yi, meanwhile, remained as calm as ever. He stood there with his hands behind his back and said, “Have Hong Taiyu come out to see me. Otherwise, you’ll only lose even more of your sectmates.”

The man in black took a deep breath. “You want to negotiate after killing members of our sect? You’re dreaming!”

Su Yi’s brow furrowed.

A low voice suddenly rang out, like the rumbling of thunder. “Xing Yunzi is right. No matter who shows up, they cannot possibly resolve such a blood debt!”

An old Daoist with steely features and long, loose hair appeared out of nowhere. He was fully ten feet tall. He wore grass sandals, and he had no ornaments or decorations whatsoever, but his imposing presence shook both heaven and earth!

The surrounding mountains surged with countless lightning bolts, which condensed into an unparalleled killing formation and sealed off the entire area.

“This disciple was inept. I disturbed your seclusion, Martial Uncle!” The black-robed man clasped his fist, looking ashamed of himself.

“It’s fine.” The old Daoist shook his head. “Step aside. Let me see this stranger’s abilities with my own eyes.”

With that, he fixed his gaze on Su Yi. Endlessly terrifying murderous intent emanated from his body, locking firmly onto Su Yi.

Hu Taizhong stood beside him, but he was affected too. He felt as if he’d lost control of his heart, mind, and body, and he toppled uncontrollably to the ground.

His courage broke down completely. He looked utterly, extraordinarily wretched.

But Su Yi didn’t make fun of him. Even some Master Gods would have collapsed in the face of that terrifying pressure, let alone someone like Hu Taizhong.

Because the ten-foot old Daoist was a Half-Step Eternal!

Su Yi swung his sleeve, flinging Hu Taizhong to safety.

Only then did he turn to face the old Daoist. He said flatly, “Hong Tiayu and I crossed paths once. Thus, out of consideration for him, I’m willing to show mercy. If you remain stubborn, well, we’ll just have to see what’s stronger: the rules of your sect, or the rules of my sword’s edge!”

The old Daoist was entirely unmoved. He said expressionlessly, “Let’s try it, then!”

Boom!

He took a step forward. It was just one step, but seemingly endless electric power of the Laws surged around his ten-foot frame.

The surrounding landscape rumbled and boomed as his vital energy coursed through him. It was as if he were one with nature!

The old man seemed unparalleled in his valiance, like a ferocious sovereign of lightning!
