Chapter 2536 - Calling for Reinforcements
Chapter 2536 – Calling for Reinforcements
The raging divine radiance dispersed before Su Yi, illuminating heaven and earth. Everyone could feel the resulting impact.
“He… He broke the grand elder’s killer move, just like that?” someone exclaimed in disbelief.
A casual strike had broken a killer move imbued with Eternal truths. This was unquestionably unbelievable.
Luo Qingdi and the others exchanged glances. They were visibly surprised, too.
“According to rumors, your power within the Undying Realm is incomparably heaven-defying. They say you can kill Nine-Tribulation Master Gods with ease. Looking at you now, it seems the rumors are true,” said Xun Wuyuan, his expression solemn.
He now took Su Yi for a powerful enemy of the same level, and he no longer dared be even the slightest bit complacent.
“Empty titles, that’s all. They’re never quite accurate,” Su Yi said calmly.
“Then do you think the voices praising you are exaggerating your prowess or underestimating you?” asked Xun Wuyuan, his eyes flashing.
“Test me and find out,” said Su Yi. He stepped forward, and space seemed to shrink beneath his feet, as if the ends of the earth were merely a step away. He arrived beneath Xun Wuyuan in a single bound.
At the same time, he pressed his fingers into a sword and slashed. It was a light, airy blow, as simple as could be, so simple that it seemed like the work of a student who’d just barely scratched the surface of the Dao of the Sword. It had no profundities to speak of, nor did it emanate any shocking energy fluctuations.
But in the face of this strike, Xun Wuyuan’s pupils constricted, and a chill coursed down his spine. He attacked with all his might without hesitation.
“Suppress!”
A mysterious star diagram condensed before Xun Wuyuan, interwoven entirely out of Undying Laws. The stars within the diagram were manifestations of Eternal truths.
The Dotted Stars Diagram!
This, too, was a supreme secret art. It might have just looked like a star diagram, but in truth, it seemed to encompass a boundless starscape. It seemed endlessly vast, enormous beyond measure.
When attacks struck the diagram, they vanished into that seemingly endless starscape, where they were ground away to nothing.
This was Xun Wuyuan’s strongest defensive divine ability.
Boom!
Sword qi slammed into the diagram, which rumbled and boomed. Countless stars split.
The mysterious star diagram had been cleaved open!
When Xun Wuyuan saw this, he looked stricken. He almost dared not believe his eyes. How could such a simple slash contain such terrifying power?
This strike’s power caught him off guard. He dodged as soon as he realized the danger, but even so, it severed one of his arms!
As blood gushed from the wound, Xun Wuyuan boomed in a voice like spring thunder, “Activate!”
A flying knife swathed in silver lightning flew through the air, cleaving at Su Yi, who was now going in for the kill.
Su Yi snapped his fingers three times in rapid succession.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Every strike was like the impact of a divine hammer. The flying knives quivered. In the end, they were sent flying.
Xun Wuyuan coughed up blood. When his knives were sent flying, he suffered a backlash, including internal wounds!
Everyone was astonished. None of them had anticipated that Xun Wuyuan, a terrifying existence who’d touched the threshold of the River of Destiny, would lose so badly to Su Yi.
Xun Wuyuan couldn’t even fight back. All of his attacks were crushed, one after another!
“So, Fellow Daoist Su is already this strong…” Luo Qingdi gasped.
In the past, when he faced Su Yi, he retained a hint of the prideful air of the former ruler of an epoch.
But now, there was no sign left of it!
At his peak, he could have defeated Xun Wuyuan too, but he couldn’t have done it with such casual ease! It wasn’t just Luo Qingdi; the other old monsters’ hearts churned, too.
Over the years, Su Yi had hidden himself deeply, never revealing his true strength. Who could have imagined that he’d be capable, not just fighting, but trouncing those who’d touched the threshold of destiny?
“Die!”
Off in the distance, the other members of Ravening Wolf Daoist Court lost their cool. All of them attacked at once, charging to Xun Wuyuan’s aid without thinking.
But Xun Wuyuan looked stricken. He roared, “Retreat!”
But he was already one step too late.
Boom!!
Dazzling, resplendent sword light suddenly lit heaven and earth, filling ninety thousand miles of sky with clanging sword hums.
Unstoppable sword force bore down on the surface of the ocean. The sky split, and all facets of creation dimmed!
Everyone watched as countless streaks of sword qi swept forth, connecting heaven and earth with the force to overturn mountains and seas.
Every streak of sword qi was just that sharp and tyrannical. They were full of heart-palpitating power of the Grand Dao.
And now, all of these densely packed streaks of sword qi shot forth like a windstorm.
Bang!!
A Nine-Tribulation Master God at the front of the pack was minced into countless meaty chunks before he could even fight back.
Dead, body and soul.
He didn’t even have time to scream!
The others were horrified. Their hair stood on end, and they turned to flee.
But it was too late.
That endless sword qi swept forth, like the surging river of heaven flowing to the east, enveloping heaven and earth. It blanketed all of the Ravening Wolf Daoist Court experts.
Desperate screams rose, then came to an abrupt halt.
Their figures rapidly disintegrated, becoming puddles of blood amidst the boundless flood of sword qi. In the blink of an eye, they were gone.
Over a hundred Master Gods!!
Without exception, all of them perished beneath the sword qi blanketing the nine heavens!
This tyrannical, bloody scene left Luo Qingdi and the others unwittingly stunned. How could a single strike be so terrifying!?
After all, even the weakest of those Master Gods had overcome seven Dao-Refining Tribulations, and their ranks included no small number of Nine-Tribulation Master Gods.
In the present-day God Domain, that was a top-notch lineup, a force strong enough to vie for supremacy and strive for a chance at Eternity during the Dark days of Legend.
Yet now, they couldn’t withstand a single of Su Yi’s strikes! If word got out, who knew what kind of uproar it would trigger in the God Domain?
Xun Wuyuan was stunned, too. His eyes bulged as if about to pop and his hands and feet quivered. He couldn’t accept this.
The natural order of the God Domain was collapsing, and the Dark Days of Legend had arrived. Ravening Wolf Daoist Court had finally waited long enough for this opportunity to arrive, and they’d finally left their spacetime forbidden zone to enter the present day.
But they’d lost over one hundred Master Gods before they could even participate in the struggle for supremacy!
How could Xun Wuyuan bear such a blow?
After all, even though Ravening Wolf Daoist Court was one of the ruling factions of the Epoch of Sumeru, it had a highly limited number of Master Gods.
When they came to the God Domain, they brought a group of Master Gods from their subordinate factions with them. Their goal was to gather as much power as possible to aid them in the struggle for supremacy.
Most of the hundred-plus Master Gods who’d died earlier had been from their subordinate factions.
Yet now, all of them were dead!!
This was unquestionably far too heavy a blow.
Heaven and earth were in turmoil. The seawater churned, but although the sword qi had vanished, the rifts in the sky remained.
The wind reeked of blood, but there was no other trace of the dead Master Gods; they didn’t even leave corpses behind. Their bodies and souls had been wiped fully from existence.
Su Yi turned to face Xun Wuyuan. “You came here to ‘bid me farewell’, and you even brought incense candles and paper money. You prepared so thoroughly, but it turns out you were nothing but a pack of clay chickens and porcelain dogs.”
His calm voice showed no sign of mockery. He wasn’t disdainful; he was disappointed!
That’s right. Su Yi hadn’t considered the possibility that the experts of a ruling faction of the Epoch of Sumeru would be so useless, Xun Wuyuan aside.
“Clay dogs and porcelain chickens?” Xun Wuyuan gnashed his teeth, his eyes bloodshot. “That’s because the patriarchs of our sect have yet to take action!”
Su Yi asked with great interest, “Have they perhaps stepped into Eternity?”
Xu Wuyuan promptly fell silent.
Su Yi laughed. “So, they’ve yet to become Eternal. And here I took them for something special.”
This time, he really was making fun of them. Blatantly, too.
Xun Wuyuan’s face was ashen. “You’ll pay for your brazen arrogance!”
Boom!
Unstoppable, dazzling, blood-red light ignited around him, and he vanished in the blink of an eye. This was obviously some sort of forbidden escape technique that sacrificed the user’s blood and qi. It was incomparably wondrous.
Su Yi just stood there, unmoving.
But in the blink of an eye, a heaven-shaking impact rang out in the distance.
Xun Wuyuan had slammed into a formation’s invisible barrier, the impact leaving him battered and bloodied. He staggered backward, looking utterly wretched.
His expression shifted, and his heart sank into the pit of his stomach. How could he fail to realize what this meant? All possible escape routes had been sealed off!
There was no doubt about it. Formations had been placed throughout the territory surrounding Sunset Perch Island!
Earlier, neither he nor his allies had sensed any sign of them. That proved how wondrous these formations were.
“Go ahead and call for help,” said Su Yi. “It seems to me that such a pack of clay chickens and porcelain dogs could never have hurt Wan Zitian. I’m sure someone else helped you.”
Xun Wuyuan stood there, his expression shifting and uncertain. “You’re right. Others helped me to defeat Wan Zitian.”
“Call them over,” Su Yi said casually. “I’ll give them a chance to save you.”
Xun Wuyuan took a deep breath, and, without a single wasted word, shattered an ancient black talisman. A strange spacetime energy fluctuation rippled outward, then vanished.
Su Yi just stood there, making no attempt to stop it.
Over on Sunset Perch Island, Luo Qingdi and the others’ expressions were strange. None of them could remain calm.
By now, how could they fail to realize that Su Yi wanted to start a massacre?
