First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2496 - Leaving the Nest

Chapter 2496 – Leaving the Nest

On the way to the Three Purities Daoist Court, Su Yi sat cross-legged in meditation.

Wan Zitian, however, was multi-tasking. Even as he steered the treasure ship, he contemplated the chaos source energy he was carrying.

There was no disguising the excitement on his face.

This was the greatest good fortune of the Tianxiu Sword Shrine, a chaos source born in the earliest days of the God Domain’s history. It was imbued with supreme Laws relating to the Dao of the Sword.

This Dao was known as Divine Execution!

“Execution” referred to slaughter. Divine Execution was the murderous intent of the heavens, naturally formed and centered around death.

And the Dao of the Sword strived for the pinnacle of destruction. Thus, teaching a sword cultivator the Dao of Divine Execution was like adding wings to a tiger.

It was no wonder rumors said that this was a supreme Law of the Grand Dao relating to the Dao of the Sword.

Wan Zitian was once second only to Li Fuyou when it came to the Dao of the Sword. When he sensed the aura of the Grand Dao of Divine Execution, he didn’t even need to perform any divinations; intuition told him that these mysteries would be enough to propel him into Eternity!

Of course he was excited. How could he not have been?

“Had I used the Grand Dao of Divine Execution to condense my Godhead, I’m afraid I’d have proven my Dao and become Eternal long ago,” sighed Wan Zitian.

Su Yi said, “It isn’t too late. You just need to fuse the mysteries of Divine Execution into your cultivation base. You just have to be on guard. Whatever you do, don’t let the Grand Dao of Divine Execution shake your foundations.”

Wan Zitian nodded, instantly solemn.

Those who became gods each mastered a single Law of the Grand Dao. That served as their foundations. Once established, there was no switching.

Gods could contemplate other Laws of the Grand Dao and fuse them into their cultivation base, but if their cultivation bases weren’t strong enough, studying other Laws would shake their foundations. The disadvantages of this outweighed the advantages.

Su Yi had already grasped the mysteries of the Grand Dao of Divine Execution on their way here. He knew that if Wan Zitian fused this power into his foundations in the Grand Dao, he’d have no need to fear failing to step onto the River of Destiny.

Suddenly, a clamor of voices rang out.

Numerous figures appeared in the distance. Some rode on treasure ships, while others sat astride divine birds. Some rode the wind, while others flew atop the flats of their swords.

All of them were rushing toward the Three Purities Daoist Court, just like Su Yi.

The difference was that most of them were immortals. Many of these young men and women were accompanied by servants and Dao Protectors.

When Su Yi and Wan Zitian overheard their conversations, they realized what was going on.

The Three Purities Daoist Court recruited disciples once a decade. It seemed their next major recruitment event would be held in just three days.

These young men and women were elites of the Immortal Dao. They were extraordinarily talented, with grand reputations. All of them were here in hopes of passing the trials and becoming disciples of the Three Purities Daoist Court.

“I’m afraid those little fellows are in for disappointment,” chuckled Wan Zitian, a strange look in his eyes.

Su Yi, however, said softly, “Now that I think about it, ten years ago, I was an immortal just like them, and I too longed to step into divinity.”

His voice was full of ruefulness. Time passed in a flash. It had already been over ten years since he’d left the Immortal Realm.

His eyes shone with reminiscence. Are my friends in the Immortal Realm still doing alright?

“Excuse me, my fellow Daoists on the treasure ship, are you perhaps also headed for the Three Purities Daoist Court’s recruitment event?” A group suddenly headed their way. The speaker was a man in jade-colored robes, the leader of the group.

“We aren’t,” said Wan Zitian. With his aura withdrawn, he seemed quite amiable. “We’re to be their guests. Have you any guidance for us, my young friend?”

“Guidance? I dare not put on such airs,” laughed the man in jade-colored robes. “I just wanted to make a few friends in preparation. That way, if we’re all fortunate enough to continue our cultivations in the Three Purities Daoist Court, we’ll be able to look out for each other.”

“Oh,” said Wan Zitian. He inclined his head. “I understand.”

“Since we’re all headed to the same place, how about we travel together, Seniors?” asked the man in jade-colored robes.

Wan Zitian gazed intently at him. “It’d be better not to.”

The man in jade-colored robes looked stunned. There was no hiding his disappointment. “In that case, we won’t disturb you any longer. Farewell.”

With that, he led his group away.

Wan Zitian laughed. “Kids these days! Each is cleverer than the one before. They haven’t even joined the Three Purities Daoist Sect, but they’re already trying to recruit others to pave their way ahead. Back then… we certainly didn’t spend our energy on such things.”

“You can’t blame them,” said Su Yi. “The competition is just too fierce. They’re all scrambling to get ahead. They just want a chance to rise through the ranks, like a carp leaping over the dragon’s gate.”

He paused, then said, “That kid was quite perceptive. He could tell that your treasure ship was extraordinary. That’s why he came over to greet us.”

Wan Zitian chuckled. “It’s a pity, but he’s focusing his attention in the wrong place. After all, we might be the Three Purities Daoist Court’s ‘guests,’ but we’re going there with ill intentions.”

Suddenly, someone shouted from a distance, “These are the gates of the Three Purities Daoist Court. Everyone must stop here and advance no further!”

His voice went off like a thunderclap, booming throughout heaven and earth.

Su Yi rose from his meditation and walked off the ship.

The light of the heavens was bright and beautiful. Otherworldly mists floated in the air.

The mountain in the distance was the most famous blessed land for cultivation in the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent.

This was the ancestral ground of the Three Purities Daoist Court. Thus, they called the mountain “Three Purities.”

Su Yi placed his hands behind his back and gazed at the mountain. He couldn’t help but feel a bit rueful.

As the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent’s leading faction, the Three Purities Daoist Court’s foundations were naturally incomparably firm.

Three Purities Mountain was home to numerous smaller blessed grounds and hidden realms, the likes of which were seldom seen in the outside world.

These in turn were home to divine materials and auspicious beasts unseen in the outside world, but common in the Three Purities Daoist Court.

Even the small fries who guarded the sect’s gates were brave enough to refuse Master Gods at the door without the slightest politeness.

When disciples of the Three Purities Daoist Court explored the outside world, almost no one dared to provoke them. Even those of greater seniority and higher cultivation bases treated them with the utmost respect.

Such were the foundations of a ruling faction.

Those same foundations were what had let the Three Purities Daoist Court exist since antiquity, overcoming countless tribulations.

There was now a sea of bobbing human heads gathered outside the sect’s gates. There had to be at least one hundred thousand people here.

There was no doubt about it. All of them were here for the disciple recruitment event, and these were just the people who’d arrived three days in advance.

It was obvious that by the time the curtains opened on the event itself, the crowd would be even bigger. It was to be an occasion so grand that the entire Spirit Firmament Divine Continent would pay attention!

At least, in theory. Wan Zitian dared say with certainty that the anticipated recruitment event would never come to pass.

“Let’s go, Ol’ Wan.” Su Yi walked through the air, drawing closer to the distant sect gates.

Wan Zitian followed shortly after.

The two of them were instantly the center of attention.

“Who are those guys? How brazen. Don’t they know that flight is prohibited near the gates of the Three Purities Daoist Court?” someone exclaimed.

This was one of the Three Purities Daoist Court’s rules. Everyone had to follow it, no matter who they were, and no matter how their cultivation was.

Nine-Tribulation Master Gods were no exception!

Yet now, two people were completely disregarding the rules. They were just riding the wind toward the Three Daoist Purities Gates in front of a crowd. Who wouldn’t have been astonished?

“Stop right there!”

“You’re seeking death!”

“Who are those idiots? They have no concept of rules!”

The experts guarding the gates shot into the air, shouting at the top of their lungs. All of them seethed with murderous intent.

The clamor of voices instantly died down, replaced with oppressive silence. Everyone’s heart quivered in their chest as they looked at Su Yi and Wan Zitian.

The crowd included the young man in jade-colored robes who’d gone to greet them earlier.

When he and his companions saw this, they couldn’t help but gasp. What are those two doing!?

This isn’t just overstepping the Three Purities Daoist Court’s rules. They’re blatantly trampling them! How is that any different from throwing their lives away?

Su Yi paid no attention to any of this. He just walked until he was ten thousand feet from the sect gates, then stopped.

He gazed at the crowd of murderous disciples charging out of the sect gates and said, “I’ll have to trouble you to pass on a message for me. Tell your seniors that Su Yi has come to visit your mountain.”

His voice wasn’t loud, and he sounded calm and casual, but everyone heard every word with perfect clarity.

Su Yi!!

The name seemed to carry a mystical power. A strange silence instantly descended over the area.

Even the wind seemed to stand still.

The hundreds of thousands of immortals gathered here froze as if they’d been struck by lightning.

The man in jade-colored robes quivered from head to toe, his scalp numb with fright and his heart pounding wildly in his chest. That guy I ran into on that treasure ship was… Su Yi!?

Mere moments prior, he’d thought that by blatantly violating the Three Purities Daoist Sect’s rules, Su Yi and Wan Zitian were effectively committing suicide.

Only now did he realize how ludicrous that assumption was.

That was Sword Venerate Su!!

How could he possibly concern himself with the rules of the Three Purities Daoist Court?

Outside the gates, the once murderous disciples were completely dumbstruck. All of them wilted like defrosting eggplants.

When Wan Zitian saw this, he couldn’t help but sigh. This is Brother Fuyou’s current prestige! He doesn’t even need to throw his weight around, nor does he need to take those mannerless small fries to task. All he has to do is say his name. That’s more than intimidating enough!

When Su Yi saw that none of the disciples were moving, he kindheartedly urged them on.

That’s right. It was just as Wan Zitian thought. With his current strength and reputation, there was no need for him to make trouble for the rude small fries guarding the gates.

Only then did the disciples react as if awakening from a dream. All of them frantically passed on the message.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Before long, the urgent ringing of a bell resounded throughout the sect, and countless streaks of resplendent divine radiance shot into the heavens. The formations covering the sect rumbled and boomed, all of them emanating terrifying power.

The commotion was so enormous as to startle everyone present.

Su Yi turned to face the crowd. “I personally suggest that you take this opportunity to leave. Wait too long, and I’m afraid it’ll be too late.”

His calm voice echoed in all directions. When it reached the crowd’s ears, it went off like a thunderclap!

Who could have failed to realize that Su Yi’s “visit” was, in fact, a declaration of war against the Three Purities Daoist Court?

Everyone was frantic, and all of them scampered off in panic.

Meanwhile, one terrifying figure after another shot out of the Three Purities Daoist Court under the leadership of Master Gods Yun Xiao and Yun He.

The sect leader and the elders followed shortly behind them.

All of them had “left the nest!”

When Master God Yun He saw Su Yi standing in the distance, his gaze instantly frosted over.

“Su Yi, do you really think you’re strong enough to shake the entire Three Purities Daoist Court by yourself!?”

Master God Yun He’s voice boomed throughout heaven and earth, shaking the mountains and rivers.

The chaos instantly died down as all eyes in the Three Purities Daoist Court converged on Su Yi.
