First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2492 - When the Dust Settles

Chapter 2492 – When the Dust Settles

Lu Shi really was surprised.

Any god could at most master one Law of the Grand Dao. That was how they condensed their Godheads.

Even if they gleaned enlightenment into the mysteries of other Grand Daos, they inevitably used the Laws within their Godhead as their foundation.

For example, Lu Shi’s Dao of the Sword was centered around lightning. It was imbued with mysteries of the Grand Dao related to thunder and lightning.

This was called “transforming in ten thousand ways, yet never forgetting one’s roots.”

But Su Yi was completely different.

Both now and prior to this, he’d used two starkly different powers of the Grand Dao.

And both could be described as his foundations in the Grand Dao!

The most unbelievable part was that the Laws of the Grand Dao Su Yi now had on display seemed capable of severing anything and everything. Judging by their quality, Su Yi would have no need to fear failing to evolve them into Eternal Laws!

Don’t tell me this has something to do with the Epoch Spark? No, that can’t be it. A few other legendary, unparalleled experts of the River of Destiny refined Epoch Sparks too, but I never heard of any of them using multiple Laws of the Grand Dao to build their foundations like this.

It was as if he’d discovered a difficult riddle. Lu Shi found it bewildering, but also inexplicably exciting.

As Lu Shi’s thoughts raced, his attacks silently transformed. He raised his hand and swung his arm.

Boom!

Three thousand streaks of searing purple sword qi whooshed through the air. Every last one of them was carved with markings of the Grand Dao and brimming with interweaving destructive power. They were like blazing suns, their radiance stinging the eyes.

When all three thousand streaks of sword qi took to the skies, they seemed like they’d melt the entire stretch of heaven and earth!

Su Yi’s eyes narrowed. He’d originally stayed in place, but now, he suddenly moved.

He stepped through the sky and launched an attack, bringing with it that vast ruin manifested of the Laws of Profound Ruin.

“Go!” Lu Shi waved his sleeve, and three thousand streaks of sword qi flew through the air like purple suns.

Boom!

The nine streaks of sword qi at the vanguard slammed into the great ruin, then exploded on impact.

Destructive, explosive sword force enveloped the entire sky. Firelight flew throughout the nine heavens and the ten earths.

That power was far too terrifying. The great ruin around Su Yi suffered the impact, and it struggled to neutralize it all at once, making Su Yi stagger backward.

Before he could steady himself, the remaining two thousand, nine hundred and ninety-one streaks of sword qi descended upon him like an avalanche.

All of them exploded before even reaching Su Yi, their destructive power like overlapping tidal waves. They enveloped the entire nine hundred thousand feet of sky around Su Yi.

The fourth extreme of the Nine Extremes Sword Dao—The Wrath of Thunder!

Three thousand streaks of sword qi took to the skies, like the thunder of the nine heavens flying into a rage, unleashing the limitless power of divine punishment.

That sheer destructive force was enough to severely damage the entire Tianxiu Sword Shrine. Countless hidden realms collapsed, and countless forbidden zones were reduced to flat ground!

The raging, explosive current of calamitous aura startled the experts waiting outside the Tianxiu Sword Shrine. Their courage failed them, and all of them turned to run.

They dared not linger. Even the aftershock of a battle like this could easily cost them their lives!

Luo Qingdi retreated too. He’d already retreated many times over, but every time he thought it was safe, he faced an even bigger threat, forcing him to move even further away.

This astonished him, but more than that, he couldn’t help but laugh at himself. Now that I’ve been reduced to a remnant of soul, I’m not even worthy of watching a battle like this…

But there was no denying that even at his peak, he wouldn’t have dared to recklessly intervene in such a battle between peak sword cultivators. That would be no different from inviting disaster onto himself!

Kaboom!!

Heaven and earth were in upheaval. The combatants’ swords hummed as if enraged, and explosive destructive power swept outward. Su Yi was repeatedly forced back, and the great void reflected around him shook as if about to fall.

At the same time, he was starting to pile on injuries. Blood flowed from numerous wounds. His wounds weren’t particularly heavy, but he did look rather wretched.

He couldn’t help but furrow his brow. Then, suddenly, he snorted coldly, and his tall, upright figure erupted with monstrous sword force.

He swung his sword, sleeves billowing around him.

Kaboom!

His sword drew on the river of stars.

Boundless sword intent came crashing down, like the river of heavens bursting through a dam. It transformed into an endless ruin. Wherever it passed, it enveloped everything!

It devoured the rest of the three thousand streaks of sword qi before they could explode.

Sword qi exploded into the ruin, but it no longer stirred up any waves to speak of.

Su Yi, meanwhile, was already attacking!

“Now it’s your turn to take one of my attacks!” Su Yi shouted, then took nine steps through the sky. With every step, his sword force rose to new heights, and the already turbulent stretch of heaven and earth descended into ever greater upheaval.

By the time he took his ninth step, Su Yi’s whole body was shrouded in boundlessly vast sword intent.

His radiance extended for one hundred thousand feet!

His sword force blanketed heaven, earth, and everything in them.

Heaven and earth were no longer chaotic. The skies were no longer in upheaval. Everything was suppressed, as if all of creation were prostrating itself in submission.

Off in the distance, Lu Shi’s gaze focused. In just nine steps, Su Yi had accumulated unprecedented, irreplicable sword force.

It was unsurpassed throughout heaven and earth, and it suppressed everything around it!

Lu Shi didn’t even need to think to know that when Su Yi attacked, it would be powerful beyond imagination. He didn’t hesitate to unleash his killer moves in rapid succession.

The Nine Extremes Sword Dao—One Thousand Autumns of the Soul!

The Nine Extremes Sword Dao—The Dharma-Annihilating Barrier!

The Nine Extremes Sword Dao—The Passage of Impermanence!

Three attacks surged forth at once, all of them imbued with utterly destructive power. Together, they surrounded and attacked Su Yi!

They targeted the soul, fleshly body, and the heart respectively. Each had its own mysteries, its own terrors, and its own secrets.

But without exception, all of them found new life amidst destruction.

The Divine Stele of the Dao of the Sword shook violently as if it were going to be ripped from the ground.

Deep beneath the dome of heaven, the strange, unfathomable power of the Laws was startled into action. Strange visions of calamity surged forth.

The entire Spirit Firmament Divine Continent was shrouded in dark clouds that blotted out the sun!

It was as if the bright skies had been instantly obscured by a curtain of darkness. An air of calamity instantly descended over every last god’s heart.

As for those beneath the god level? All they felt was helplessness and terror.

But then, Su Yi attacked, too.

It was just one strike, but it seemed to strip all of the power of heaven and earth. The skies abruptly withered and collapsed.

When it landed, it was as if a clear, complete, tangible World of Samsara had descended onto the God Domain, effectively replacing it.

The World of Samsara didn’t just reflect all manner of unbelievable visions. It also had a grand and mysterious rhythm of the Grand Dao, making it all come to life.

The Sea of Bitterness churned. Gods and demons wailed from within its turbid waters.

Lamps swayed on the road to the Yellow Springs, and the Flowers of the Far Shore bloomed with the inscrutable sound of deliverance.

Countless souls of the dead gathered on the Platform of Rebirth, displaying the alternations of life and death with all the mysteries of impermanence.

But the Ten Yama Kings were the most terrifying of all!

Yama King Chu Jiang, Yama King Yan Luo, Yama King Qin Guang… Ten grand and mysterious figures appeared, as if they’d truly come to life. Each presided over part of the underworld, and all of them divined the cycle of reincarnation.

The mysteries of the Six Paths soon appeared throughout the World of Samsara.

This was a true vision of the Netherworld. The natural order and Laws of Reincarnation were on full display.

No one could possibly have imagined that all of this was manifested from a single slash!

“Reincarnation…” Lu Shi’s pupils focused. He couldn’t help but sigh with admiration. This power of the natural order once ended gods, suppressed worlds, and traversed the past, present, and future.

Who among the Eternals of the River of Destiny could be ignorant of this power?

Now, when Lu Shi saw Su Yi’s attack for himself, he finally understood why reincarnation had become the most taboo of all Laws on the River of Destiny.

Boom!!!

The slash took to the sky, and the World of Samsara descended, clashing fiercely with Lu Shi’s three killer moves.

Heaven and earth were enveloped in searing firelight. Everything was shrouded in chaos. No one could see, hear, or sense anything at all!

Even when Lu Shi circulated the full extent of his cultivation base and tried his utmost to lock onto a portion of reincarnation’s power, he couldn’t.

On the contrary, his three attacks collapsed. The power of reincarnation completely crushed them!

Lu Shi suffered the impact, too. He flew back like a kite with its strings cut, repeatedly coughing up blood.

Yun He’s body… ultimately isn’t comparable to my own… Lu Shi sighed.

When he saw that reincarnation was about to trap him, he sensed a true, lethal threat.

He didn’t hesitate.

He took a deep breath, circulating practically all of the power available to him in this body, and used his fingers like a sword to strike the air.

A simple, yet mystical lightning pool appeared in a flash.

Electric lava churned within the pool, dazzlingly, stingingly bright. It was just a lightning pool, yet it was like the source of destruction, the origin of countless calamities!

When this strike appeared, the lightning pool took to the sky. Millions of arcs of electricity poured out of it, then gathered into a current that swept throughout the nine heavens.

The Nine Extremes Sword Dao—the Lightning Annihilation Pool!

Boom!!!

When the lightning pool and the power of reincarnation clashed, it was like two natural disasters colliding.

The lightning pool was full of destruction and new life, while reincarnation oversaw death and rebirth!

Both were just that taboo and just that mysterious.

The clash was so intense that the entire Tianxiu Sword Shrine collapsed.

The endless current of destructive power shooting throughout the nine heavens provoked a backlash from the Laws of the surrounding area!

Divine punishment descended!

Calamitous visions filled the sky throughout the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent.

Countless people recalled the battle in the Hazy Sea Forbidden Zone. The Laws had been provoked then, too, resulting in strange, apocalyptic visions.

The difference was that this time, the disturbance was even greater. Tides of lightning rumbled and boomed, and mysterious, impassioned sword hums resounded throughout the nine heavens!

Every cultivator beneath the heavens was astonished. Everyone was in uproar!

No one knew what was happening. Naturally, none of them could have imagined that all of this was the result of a duel between two sword cultivators.

However, shortly after, all of these strange visions faded, and the commotion died down.

The clouds parted, and the sun came back into view, its light illuminating the world once more. It was as if everything that had just happened were an illusion, gone in a snap of the fingers.

Meanwhile, all of the forbidden zones, hidden realms, and mountains of the Tianxiu Sword Shrine had been leveled.

The earth was now covered in criss-crossing gashes, and the ground was scorched.

Only the Divine Stele of the Dao of the Sword remained standing.

Two figures stood beneath the dome of heaven, staring each other down from afar.

Su Yi’s robes were stained with blood, and his long hair hung loose. His back was perfectly straight, but his whole body was covered in wounds leftover from their battle.

Lu Shi stood in the air too, his robes similarly torn and his face pallid. Blood gushed from the corners of his lips.

Most startling of all, his skin was covered in countless fine cuts, like a spiderweb.

And every last line seeped blood!
