Chapter 2267 - Su Yi Metes Out Punishment
Chapter 2267 – Su Yi Metes Out Punishment
As the scholarly young man’s voice echoed through the air, the atmosphere grew utterly oppressive.
Feng Wuji held his breath, and his hair stood on end.
The scholarly young man was just sitting there casually, but his voice was full of formless majesty that affected his heart directly. Feng Wuji couldn’t even entertain the barest thought of opposing him!
This feeling was unquestionably far too terrifying. Feng Wuji fully believed that if the young man wanted to kill him, he wouldn’t be able to resist in the slightest.
But Su Yi didn’t even seem to notice. He just shook his head slightly and said, “It seems you don’t really intend to welcome me as your ‘distinguished guest’ after all.”
The young man in Confucian robes laughed dryly, then suddenly tossed his teacup into the distance.
Then, he said slowly, “That depends on whether or not you’re worthy of such treatment. If you aren’t, I’ll have you crawl on the ground like a dog, fetch me that teacup, and beg me to grant you death.”
He clapped his hands and smiled. “No need to waste time talking. Come on and show me where you got the courage to bark like that!”
Every word was disdainful, playful, and clearly intended to humiliate.
Feng Wuji was the first to lose his cool. His face reddened, and he growled, “That bastard’s taking this too far!!”
The young man in Confucian robes ignored him. He was completely focused on Su Yi.
Su Yi said nothing. He couldn’t be bothered to utter so much as a single word more. Instead, he flipped his palm, and a rusted sheath floated into view.
When he drew the sheath through the air, it created a perfectly straight black line through heaven and earth.
If heaven and earth were a sheet of white paper, the black line divided that sheet of paper perfectly in half.
It didn’t create the slightest ripple, nor did it produce even the slightest noise.
But when this strange black line appeared, the scholarly young man’s smile froze in place. A moment later, he shot to his feet and swung his sleeve through the air.
Boom!
Countless resplendent, crystalline, purple Laws of the natural order surged forth, making the hidden realm of the ninth level shake. The dense, bloody, baleful clouds overhead shattered, and the nearby skies collapsed into pieces.
Feng Wuji felt a stinging pain in his eyes, and his heart filled with panic. All he could think was, We’re finished!!
That guy’s got to be a peak Nine-Tribulation Master God at the very least. No, he might be even more terrifying than that!
How are we supposed to fight that?
But a moment later, Feng Wuji was completely gobsmacked, as something unbelievable had just happened.
The countless crystalline purple Laws of the natural order silently vanished as soon as they drew near that black sword line.
Like flowing water vanishing into an abyss. It didn’t create so much as the slightest splash.
Su Yi put away the rusted sword sheath, and the mysterious black line instantly vanished without a trace.
The young man in scholarly robes shot to his feet, visibly stricken. “That’s… a spacetime secret treasure!? No, impossible! Not even a spacetime secret treasure could devour this lofty one’s attacks so easily!”
He’d been relaxed and at ease just moments prior, laughing and chatting without taking Su Yi or Feng Wuji the least bit seriously. He even spoke with an air of lofty superiority and clear intent to humiliate.
Yet now, he could no longer remain seated. His smile had vanished, and his handsome face was full of utter shock!
He stared intently at the rusted sheath in Su Yi’s hands, the look in his eyes shifting and uncertain.
Su Yi disregarded him, then turned to look at Feng Wuji. “For now, just stay back and watch the show.”
With that, he started walking toward the bronze pillar and the altar the young man in Confucian robes was standing on.
“Tell me, what would happen if I cleaved open that altar?” Su Yi asked casually.
The young man in Confucian robes took a deep breath, then plastered a slightly rigid smile onto his face. “I think you’d best refrain. After all, if we really cast aside all pretenses of cordiality, that old tea tree and the Rahu Yao Ancestor will be doomed even if you win.”
He made it sound like a discussion, but in truth, it was a threat!
“You’re wrong. If we really cast aside all pretenses of cordiality, I naturally won’t concern myself with whether they live or die.” Su Yi shook his head slightly.
As he spoke, he drew closer, his gait neither fast nor slow. He looked as relaxed as if he were out for a leisurely stroll.
But as he drew near, the scholarly young man’s expression shifted repeatedly, and that purple power of the Laws surged around his tall, thin frame. The entire stretch of heaven and earth shook violently, and the skies let out mournful wails.
Feng Wuji’s heart was on tenterhooks. He couldn’t help but sweat on Su Yi’s behalf. Su Yi had only just broken into the Limit Realm. Feng Wuji couldn’t even imagine why he was so fearless.
On the seventh and eighth floors, Su Yi had done everything in his power to avoid provoking those divine wraiths comparable to Seven and Eight-Tribulation Master Gods. Yet now, he was up against a terrifying expert comparable to a peak Nine-Tribulation Master God at the very least, but he didn’t seem to care in the slightest!
Kaboom!
Suddenly, a Dao Sword manifested entirely out of purple Laws of the natural order appeared out of nowhere above Su Yi’s hand and slashed furiously downward.
It was unbelievably fast.
The power of that strike sealed the space around Su Yi off completely!
The young man in Confucian robes was certain that even a peak Nine-Tribulation Master God like the Rahu Yao Ancestor would have struggled to dodge an attack like that.
But what happened next made him visibly lose his composure yet again.
Su Yi suddenly raised that rotting sword sheath into the air once more.
That strange scene unfolded yet again. The purple Dao Sword manifested from Laws of the natural order was like a meal delivering itself to the door; that mysterious sword gash silently devoured it whole!
The power sealing off the surrounding skies vanished with it.
Su Yi, meanwhile, wasn’t affected in the slightest. He just continued ahead, entirely unperturbed.
He was as calm as ever, but the young man in Confucian robes had obviously realized that this didn’t bode well for him. He finally panicked!
“Please, stop there! I admit that I misjudged you earlier. I severely underestimated you, but from this moment forth, you are the distinguished guest of my people!” The young man in Confucian robes smiled and clasped his fist in greeting.
He couldn’t help but panic.
The altar was a spacetime node, an anchor. The scholarly young man’s people wouldn’t be able to enter the present age during the Dark Days of Legend without it.
And Su Yi’s rusted sheath could cleave through time and space and devour everything. If a sheath like that cleaved open the altar, it would ruin the entire spacetime node, and with it, the scholarly young man’s only hope of leading his people into the present day!
The young man in Confucian robes absolutely couldn’t accept or bear the consequences of that!
Feng Wuji witnessed this whole exchange. He didn’t understand what was going on, but he still couldn’t help but sigh in relief. He could tell that the man in Confucian robes was afraid of ruining his plans. He’d decided to compromise!
This was an unquestionably good sign.
But against Feng Wuji’s expectations, and against the scholarly young man’s expectations, Su Yi remained silent. He just disregarded the young man’s offer to negotiate and continued ahead, entirely unperturbed.
“What exactly do you want? Just tell me. Everything’s on the table,” said the young man in Confucian robes, still maintaining that polite greeting. “If it’ll relieve your anger, you can even take the old tea tree and the Rahu Yao Ancestor with you.”
It was obvious that Su Yi’s domineering, unreadable silence had convinced the scholarly young man to take yet another step back.
Feng Wuji couldn’t help but click his tongue. His heart was full of astonishment. He hadn’t said a word. He was just walking, yet he’d somehow forced the scholarly young man to make concession after concession!
If word got out, who’d dare to believe it?
Finally, Su Yi spoke. “You want to bury the hatchet?”
“I do!” the young man in Confucian robes said with a smile.
“Very well,” said Su Yi. “Stand there and maintain that position while I pick up your teacup for you.”
With that, beneath the crowd’s flabbergasted gazes, Su Yi picked up the teacup.
Then, he glanced at it, picked up a jug of wine, and filled the cup. “Remember, don’t move. Move at all, and I guarantee I’ll destroy this place before the day is through.”
The scholarly young man’s expression shifted erratically. “What are you planning to do?”
“You refused a toast, so I’ll just have to have you drink a forfeit instead.” Su Yi walked over, held the teacup up high, and shifted his wrist. Drops of wine poured out of the teacup, splashing the young scholar’s head.
Feng Wuji felt as if someone had grabbed his heart and squeezed. He was more nervous than ever before, to the point that his scalp went numb. He would never have guessed that Su Yi would dare humiliate someone so unfathomably terrifying!
The scholarly young man’s expression turned ashen, and the depths of his gaze surged with murderous intent.
Su Yi was at such close quarters that the scholarly young man could have killed him in the time it took to raise his hand!
But when he saw Su Yi’s rusted sword sheath, he sighed and endured. The altar was a critical weakness; he couldn’t disregard it, nor could he tolerate anything happening to it.
Thus, all he could do was endure!
Cold, fragrant wine dripped down his hair, then down his forehead and onto his cheeks. Some of it reached his lips, while the rest trailed down his jaw and dripped onto the ground.
From beginning to end, the scholarly young man maintained his polite greeting, not moving in the slightest.
Su Yi lifted the now-empty teacup and said, “How does it taste?”
The young man licked his lips. “The flavor of the wine is rather decent, but my mood isn’t. This is absolutely the least pleasant cup of wine I’ve ever drunk.”
“As it should be.” Su Yi picked up the teacup and tossed it away. He said calmly, “Those who humiliate other people will be humiliated in turn, and I just love giving others a taste of their own medicine.”
Veins bulged on the young man’s forehead. He was obviously fighting to suppress his rage and humiliation.
In the end, he lowered his head. “Are you satisfied now?”
“Not yet,” said Su Yi.
Whap!
Su Yi smacked the young man in the face with the rusted sword sheath, leaving a bloody gash. Blood splurted, and the wound was so deep that Su Yi caught a glimpse of bone!
It was obvious how much force he’d put into the blow.
The scholarly young man could have dodged, but he didn’t. Instead, he maintained his polite greeting.
The sight left Feng Wuji gobsmacked. He was completely dazed. He couldn’t even imagine how a terrifying existence like that young man could be so tolerant. He’d suffered such grave humiliation, yet he still didn’t dare to fight back!
On the contrary, he’d cooperated as Su Yi smacked him in the face with his sheath!
This time, Su Yi finally seemed satisfied. “Now we can talk.”
