Chapter 2246 - Su Yi Versus Di E
Chapter 2246 – Su Yi Versus Di E
Several thousand feet away, the old man steadied himself on his feet.
“I told you that I only have a few years left to live. I won’t let you get away with this, even if I have to sacrifice these old bones to stop you!”
His gaunt figure stood upright, and a grand, blue sky appeared reflected behind. Waterfalls of the power of the natural order interwove within it.
Immediately after, his imposing, momentous aura soared, instantly rising to unbelievable heights.
Boom!!
Heaven and earth were thrown into upheaval, and the skies collapsed on all sides. It visibly startled the power of the Laws throughout the surrounding area.
The clear skies abruptly darkened. It was like the onset of an eternal night.
The experts near Skybright Peak were startled. All of them looked over.
“Master!” Si Ming’s heart clenched. “Has he decided to risk it all?”
“It’s that old man from Clear Breeze Daoist Temple, the one who refuses to kick the bucket!”
“They say he’s made numerous attempts to step onto the River of Destiny, only to fail repeatedly. All manner of calamitous powers have severely corroded his cultivation base. I would never have guessed that he was still alive!”
“Look at that aura! That stubborn geezer sure is scary!”
…Private conversations arose throughout the shadows.
Clear Breeze Daoist Temple was an ancient, mysterious orthodoxy of an unknown territory. Its masters each took on only one student.
The stubborn geezer was the founder of Clear Breeze Daoist Temple. He was just one person, but he was like a peak, massive faction in his own right!
Just as I thought. Si Ming’s master suffered severe Dao wounds while attempting to reach the River of Destiny. Otherwise, there’s no way he’d be any weaker than Di E.
Master God Yun He and the others looked over too.
Di E!
He was the man behind the curtain in this death trap!
When all of this was first set into motion, he was the one who insisted that Su Yi was sure to come to Xi Ning’s aid.
He was also Master God Yun He and the others’ backer!
After watching the old hunchback die, the Master Gods were cautious of Su Yi’s sword sheath. None of them dared to attack recklessly, so all they could do was pin their hopes on Di E.
The situation had developed to the point that Di E was now the key to victory!
If he lost, they’d lose his chess match completely. If he won, even if they paid a far heavier price than this, it would all be worth it!
Di E appeared beneath the dome of heaven.
He was dressed in black, with a black cloth covering his eyes. He looked like a teenager.
However, when he stood there, heaven and earth were instantly plunged into endless darkness. Countless Dao markings surged forth and revolved around him.
Most unsettling of all, darkness seemed to devour the space around him, transforming it into a seemingly endless, dark abyss!
When the distant onlookers saw him, their hearts quivered. A suffocating wave of despair washed over them.
Even the Nine-Tribulation Master Gods gasped. They didn’t dare look at Di E directly.
Di E’s presence was just too terrifying.
He was far stronger than the old hunchback!
It was like the descent of the unsurpassed ruler of darkness. He gazed down at all of his enemies with contemptuous pride!
“You’d best step aside, old man. Otherwise, Clear Breeze Daoist Temple will soon vanish from the face of this world!” said Di E. As he spoke, he took a step forward as if to shoot toward Skybright Mountain.
Boom!
The blue skies behind the old man descended, blocking Di E’s path. The power of countless Laws surged forth, collapsing the surrounding stretch of heaven and earth.
All of creation dimmed, and the Grand Dao collapsed.
Die E’s brow furrowed. No one saw him move, but countless dark talisman markings shot forth, like indomitably sharp spears tearing countless rifts in that stretch of blue sky.
The old man let out a muffled grunt, and his aged face paled.
However, he wasn’t the least bit concerned. He leaped ahead, hands forming seals, and struck the air.
Kaboom!
A dazzling sun rose amidst those blue skies, its light boundless and immeasurable. All Daos melted in the face of its searing heat.
Everyone felt a prickling pain in their eyes, and they were visibly overcome with astonishment.
This strike was so powerful that it seemed like the embodiment of heaven’s wrath or the descent of the apocalypse!
Di E shook his head, then swung his palm.
Boom!!
Darkness swept forth like the tides, collapsing the blue skies and shattering that brilliant sun.
The old man was sent flying backward on impact. Dark talisman markings bore into his flesh, and startling wounds appeared all over his skin.
It was a heart-palpitating sight. Who could fail to realize that the old man was no match for Di E?
“If you remain stubborn, don’t blame me for my rudeness!” said Di E. As he spoke, he headed straight for Skybright Mountain.
He looked young, but he had the imposing bearing of the sovereign of the heavens!
Without exception, the onlookers’ hearts shook. Even the old-timers watching from the shadows dared not emerge from hiding for fear that Di E would target them.
Qi Wei was fraught with anxiety. Di E was so powerful that she felt helplessness and dread!
Li Sanjiu’s expression was unprecedentedly grim.
In stark contrast, Master God Yun He and his allies visibly relaxed. All of them felt reassured. With Di E here, victory was certain!
Only Su Yi remained as composed as ever. He just watched calmly from afar.
“Activate!” The old man roared in fury.
Whoosh!
A streak of flowing Dao light landed in the old man’s hands.
This was none other than Si Ming’s taboo treasure, the Lotus Seed of Light and Shadow!
The power of light and shadow surged around the old man, and his momentum instantly transformed.
Di E had only just raised his foot to take a step forward, but he abruptly lowered it and whipped around.
“Do you really want to fight to the death!?” Di E said icily, his voice tinged with fury.
The combined power of the old man who refused to die and a taboo treasure was so great that even Di E felt threatened. He dared not underestimate them.
“Do you really need to ask?” the old man said calmly.
Throughout his body, his vital aura burned. Light and shadow flowed like a river, revolving around him. It washed and cleaned all Daos in the surrounding void, mysterious and taboo.
“Taboo treasures” were called that because they broke ironclad rules and defied the natural order. It naturally wouldn’t do to underestimate them!
Even those locked in battle—the Dipankara Buddha, the Angler, Celestial Priestess Divine Rains, and the Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor—were startled. They couldn’t help but take note of what was happening.
“As you ought to know, if you force me to reveal my true strength, I might well pay a heavy price, but everyone here will die beyond a doubt! The entire Spirit Firmament Divine Continent will be laid to ruin!” Di E said with cold indifference. “If you can accept those consequences, go ahead and attack me!”
Everyone’s heart shook, and they felt chills in their hands and feet. Everyone realized that the situation didn’t bode well for them.
All of them would die! Who could accept that?
Even the old-timers watching from the shadows lost their composure and prepared to flee.
No one dared doubt Di E. He wouldn’t have said such a thing if it weren’t entirely possible!
The old man’s expression filled with uncertainty.
The atmosphere was so oppressive that even the Master Gods felt ill at ease.
But it was then that Su Yi attacked.
He walked through the air, rising to greater heights, then gazed at the old man. “Fellow Daoist, step aside. There’s no need for you to risk yourself just to deal with Di E.”
Uproar ensued.
The old man frowned. “You have means of handling him?”
Su Yi nodded. “The moment I learned of this trap, I guessed that Di E was the one behind it. I naturally prepared countermeasures.”
His voice resounded clearly throughout the entire area. Everyone was incomparably astonished. Does Su Yi have hidden weapons even more terrifying than that mysterious sword sheath?
“Hah.” Di E shook his head. “The sheath was a surprise, but the other countermeasures you arranged were all within my expectations.”
He gazed at Su Yi through the black cloth obscuring his eyes. “That sheath aside, the only weapon you have left is that mysterious sword that’s somehow involved in your reincarnations.
“But you’re too weak! You can’t possibly reveal the sword’s true power!
“Yi Daoxuan and Li Fuyou used that sword back then, and it really did get them out of numerous dangerous situations.
“But against me, that treasure… is in no way enough to save you!”
Di E raised his right hand and rubbed his thumb and forefinger together. He said slowly, “Why not show me what ‘countermeasures’ you’ve prepared?”
It might have sounded like an expression of disdain, but Su Yi knew that Di E was probing him. If he really weren’t concerned, he’d have attacked a long time ago. Why waste all his time talking?
But Su Yi planned to seize this opportunity to ask Di E a few questions too.
“There’s no rush,” said Su Yi. “There’s actually something I’m rather confused about. Why didn’t Gu Huaxian and Jiao Mu come with you?”
Gu Huaxian was Lu Qingmei’s Master.
Jiao Mu, just like the old hunchback, was one of Di E’s old allies.
The three of them had worked with Di E to intercept Su Yi on the Road of Celestial Guidance.
The three of them were also responsible for Yi Daoxuan’s death!
Yet of the three of them, only the old hunchback had appeared. There was still no sign of Gu Huaxian or Jiao Mu. That meant that Su Yi hadn’t gotten to use some of the cards he’d prepared.
Di E chuckled. “You overestimate yourself. Why would I need their help to snuff out a measly little reincarnation like you?”
“It’s a pity,” sighed Su Yi.
Then, he gazed into the distance. “It’s time to determine victory and defeat. Surely you don’t plan to remain a bystander?”
Di E watched coldly, making no effort to stop Su Yi. It seemed he wanted to see whether anyone would dare to step forth.
A long time passed, and no one responded.
But this was, in a sense, an answer. It was proof that no one wanted to get mixed up in this, and that no one would choose to help Su Yi defeat Di E at a time like this.
Helping neither party was, in a sense, a show of neutrality, but that didn’t mean that no one would intervene after the battle began!
“That works too.” Su Yi looked away, then returned his attention to Di E. “What’s your connection to the owner of the Dao Origin Medallion?”
The Dao Origin Medallion!
Earlier, when Master God Yun He arrived, he used this medallion to send the old-timers of unknown territories packing. They’d had no choice but to obey.
It was just that practically no one here knew who the true owner of the medallion was.
But Su Yi knew.
In the long history of the God Domain, a tiny handful of legends had truly stepped onto the River of Destiny.
The owner of the Dao Origin Medallion was one of them.
His name was Lu Shi, and people had once called him “The Dao Origin Divine Monarch!”
He was already an unsurpassed legend who’d reached the River of Destiny when Yi Daoxuan was active in the God Domain!
Di E frowned and said coolly, “How is that any of your business? And what good will knowing do you? You still won’t escape death in the end!”
