Chapter 2173 - Recognizing Ancestors and Returning to the Clan
Chapter 2173 – Recognizing Ancestors and Returning to the Clan
Three blazing suns hung beneath the dome of heaven, casting their light on the world below.
But their radiance paled in comparison to that sudden burst of sword light.
Everything happened too quickly.
Earlier, Yao God Sheng Que fought with overwhelming force, repeatedly forcing the little monkey back. There’d been no holding back his divine majesty.
Who could have imagined that a single streak of sword qi would appear out of nowhere and end it all?
When Yao God Sheng Que’s spear first split, the crowd didn’t yet realize what had happened.
It was only when the illusory golden Dragon Sparrow behind him dissipated that their hearts shook, and they realized something had gone terribly wrong.
Then, they saw that a tall, upright figure had appeared on the battlefield. He stood before the badly injured little monkey.
Yao God Sheng Que came to an abrupt halt in midair.
Deathly silence descended over the area.
Han Dongzhi and the other higher-ups’ excited expressions froze in place as they realized that this didn’t bode well.
“What… what a fast strike!”
Yao God Sheng Que gazed at the tall, upright figure in the distance, his voice starting and stopping. He looked a little bewildered. Since when did such a powerful sword cultivator exist in the Billowing Blue Realm?
Moments later, awareness fled him completely.
The bloody line at his throat split, and his head and body parted ways.
The crowd watched in shock and horror as Yao God Sheng Que’s lifeless body and soul crumbled into ash and dissipated before their very eyes.
Han Dongzhi and the others were dumbstruck.
Immortal Queen Zi Jue, Yang Shuang’er, and A’Ling were dazed, too. Witnessing this unbelievable death had left them all stunned.
There was no doubt about it. Earlier, that streak of sword qi did more than just split Yao God Sheng Que’s spear. It shattered the illusory Dragon Sparrow behind him and slew him on the spot!
It was just too terrifying. Everyone felt a chill course down their spine, as if they’d been plunged into an icy abyss.
Just what kind of attack was that, to have slain a Fortune Realm Greater God in a single blow?
“I’ve embarrassed myself in front of you, Master,” said the little monkey. He’d already crawled back onto his feet, and he had an ashamed look on his face.
His formerly towering frame had returned to its usual ten-or-so feet. He was completely covered in bleeding wounds, and he looked utterly wretched.
Su Yi shook his head. “He was just one step away from becoming a Master God. He was no ordinary Greater God, so there’s no shame in losing to him.”
A’Ling suddenly cried out from on board the treasure ship, “So it was Big Brother Xiao who attacked!”
Boom!
Immortal Queen Zi Jue and Yang Shuang’er felt thunderclaps go off in their heads. They were completely flabbergasted. Xiao Jian was the one who killed Yao God Sheng Que!?
My heavens! He… isn’t he just a badly injured human cultivator? His whole body is riddled with Dao Wounds!
According to A’Ling, not long ago, Xiao Jian had been completely bed-bound, unable to lift even a finger. He’d been effectively paralyzed.
Who could have imagined that a “cripple” would kill Yao God Sheng Que in a single effortless strike?
Immortal Queen Zi Jue and Yang Shuang’er’s minds went completely blank.
Su Yi stood beneath the light of the heavens, one hand holding a gourd of wine. His blue robes billowed in the wind, and he looked extraordinary and detached.
He didn’t emanate even the barest hint of a heaven-shaking, momentous aura. Yet now, when people looked at him, he seemed just that mysterious and transcendent.
That wasn’t all. They felt uncontrollable terror, too!
“It’s him! That’s that Su Yi guy!!” Sect Leader Han Dongzhi suddenly cried out.
Su Yi!
The other sect higher-ups gasped. They were completely gobsmacked.
They’d only just received a message from Qingwu Divine Court ordering them to search the Billowing Blue Realm for Su Yi earlier today.
It was because of this message that they knew that Su Yi wasn’t just the reincarnation of the Swordmaster of Spiritual Desolation, Li Fuyou. He was also the reincarnation of the Unparalleled Sword Demon of the Endless Ocean, Yi Daoxuan!
At first, they’d disregarded this message, as they in no way believed that someone like Su Yi would come to the Billowing Blue Realm.
Yet now… here he was.
The realization left them on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Su Yi hadn’t just come to the Billowing Blue Realm. He’d even brought an extraordinarily powerful yao god with him and attacked the Celestial Yao Mountains!!
Su Yi? Immortal Queen Zi Jue and Yang Shuang’er were increasingly bewildered. Don’t tell me that Xiao Jian… has another identity?
“You recognize me?” Su Yi exclaimed. He’d only just sent the little monkey into Sky Blue City to gather information regarding him, only for the monkey to return empty-handed. He’d taken that to mean that word of his arrival had not yet reached the God Domain.
Now, he suddenly realized that he’d been wrong!
“Of course we know who you are!” said Han Dongzhi, his face ashen. He spat through gnashed teeth, “You’re the one wanted by every god and Buddha of the God Domain! Countless top factions want you dead!”
“Oh,” said Su Yi. He roughly understood what had happened. His fourth and fifth incarnations’ enemies had taken action, commanding the forces of the God Domain to put a bounty on his head!
“But…” Han Dongzhi said with grief and indignation, “There’s no grudge between you and the Celestial Yao Mountains. Why come here to kill us?”
Su Yi said flatly, “You know who I am, so why don’t you know my relationship with the Yi Family?”
Han Dongzhi was baffled, but one of the higher-ups beside him realized something and blurted, “I understand! His past incarnation, the Unparalleled Sword Demon of the Endless Ocean, Yi Daoxuan, was the progenitor of the Yi Family!”
Everyone was instantly startled.
Han Dongzhi and the others finally understood the root of this disaster. All of this was happening because once, a long time ago, they’d been involved in the demise of the Yi Family!
“Yi Daoxuan… Big Brother Xiao is… my clan’s progenitor!?” A’Ling’s eyes widened, and she was at a loss for words.
When Yang Shuang’er heard that, she recalled everything Elder Li Changqing had told her about the Yi Family. She felt like her mind couldn’t quite keep up with it all. How… could Xiao Jian be the progenitor of the Yi Family?
My heavens! If that’s true, wouldn’t that make him my…ancestor!?
“It’s a pity, but it seems you’ve realized it too late,” said Su Yi.
“Too late?” Han Dongzhi’s hair and beard bristled with fury. “It’s not too late at all. The Celestial Yao Mountains have fallen, but that’s sure to alert Qingwu Divine Court. You, Su Yi, are wanted by every god and Buddha beneath the heavens. You’ll be dead before long, too!!”
His voice was full of hatred and resentment.
Su Yi laughed, not the least bit concerned. “Little monkey, send them on their way.”
“Got it!” The little monkey marched into battle once more. He was badly injured, but that didn’t affect his combat strength. Within moments, the battle was over.
Nothing unexpected happened, either. Han Dongzhi and the other sect higher-ups were all dead.
As the little monkey and the Divine Replenishment Furnace scoured the battlefield for trophies, Su Yi returned to the treasure ship. Now that this was over, he planned to leave the Billowing Blue Realm and set course for the Southern Flame Divine Continent.
Su Yi returned to his wicker chair and asked with a smile, “Now do you understand who I am?”
From his perspective, flattening the Celestial Yao Mountains was a trivial matter, as ordinary as could be. It wasn’t even worth mentioning.
Yang Shuang’er was too dazed and out of sorts to speak.
A’Ling, however, couldn’t help but interject. “Big Brother Xiao, are you… really my clan’s ancestor?”
Su Yi inclined his head. “I was once, but none of that matters now.”
He sighed softly. The Yi Family had, ultimately, been lost to history. Now, only Yang Shuang’er and A’Ling remained. You couldn’t even call it a clan anymore.
But no matter what, so long as the sisters lived, a thread of his past incarnation’s bloodline lived on, and could carry on into the future!
“Strange. Big Brother Xiao, you’re so young. How could you possibly be my ancestor…?” A’Ling was a bit baffled.
Su Yi couldn’t help but laugh.
But Yang Shuang’er remained silent throughout this entire exchange.
She’d been unwilling to believe everything Li Changqing had told her about her origins, but now…
Her conviction wavered.
Immortal Queen Zi Jue was similarly silent. She was so shocked that her heart felt tangled up in knots. Her thoughts raced.
Su Yi? Xiao Jian? The master of that yao god? The progenitor of the Yi Family? The man wanted by every god and Buddha beneath the heavens?
Just who is this young man in blue!?
The Celestial Yao Mountains lay in ruin. The ground was littered with scars.
The yao gods she’d once revered had been reduced to ash. The sectmates she’d once known had perished, too.
All of this came as an extremely heavy blow.
She suddenly recalled Su Yi urging her to look at the Celestial Yao Mountains while she still had the chance, as this orthodoxy would soon cease to exist.
Now, his words had become a reality!
The most ridiculous part was that she’d been convinced that if Su Yi declared war on the Celestial Yao Mountains, he’d be throwing his life away…
She couldn’t find words to describe her feelings. She felt more bewildered than ever before.
“Going forward, your name is Yi Shuang’er, and your name is Yi Ling’er.” Su Yi suddenly looked at the sisters and said gently, “I’m going to get you settled in a hidden realm. You can cultivate in there, and so long as nothing happens to me, you’ll both be perfectly safe.”
“Yi Ling’er…” A’Ling murmured, then nodded solemnly. “Big Brother Xiao, I’ll remember!”
Yang Shuang’er, however, looked at Immortal Queen Zi Jue and said, “Master, am I… really a descendant of the Yi Family?”
Immortal Queen Zi Jue reacted as if awakening from a dream, her expression suddenly conflicted. “There’s… most likely no mistake.”
Why would someone capable of killing Yao God Sheng Que with ease go out of his way to deceive a girl like Yang Shuang’er?
Yang Shuang’er nodded silently, then suddenly said to Su Yi, “What do you plan to do with my master?”
Immortal Queen Zi Jue’s heart clenched.
Su Yi could tell that Yang Shuang’er cared deeply about her master.
He looked at Immortal Queen Zi Jue and said, “I’ll give you a choice. You can stay with Yi Shuang’er and cultivate in the hidden realm I’ve prepared. Do so, and becoming a goddess won’t be at all difficult for you.
“Alternatively, you can leave immediately. We’ll each go our separate ways, never to cross paths again. Decide for yourself.”
Immortal Queen Zi Jue’s expression shifted erratically, but then, she suddenly prostrated herself on the deck and said, “This junior hopes to stay behind! Please, let me stay, Senior!”
When Yang Shuang’er saw her master prostrate herself and address Su Yi as “senior”, her heart quivered uncontrollably.
She slowly knelt, then lowered her head to the deck and said, “Your unfilial descendant, Yi Shuang’er, would like to thank you, Ancestor. Thank you for tolerating my earlier rudeness and granting me an opportunity to recognize my ancestry and return to my clan!”
Yi Shuang’er had finally accepted her identity!
When Su Yi saw this, he couldn’t help but feel gratified. It wasn’t too late for her to mend her ways!
A’Ling was delighted too. She beamed, her face nothing but smiles.
But then, she hesitated. If Big Brother Xiao is my ancestor, what am I supposed to call him going forward?
