Chapter 2119 - Is the Height of Your Cultivation Important?
Chapter 2119 – Is the Height of Your Cultivation Important?
Kcch!
Yu Jiu shook his long black spear and attacked Su Yi from afar. Wherever his spear passed, it tore open a perfectly straight rift.
Terrifying murderous intent locked onto Su Yi.
Creation Realm cultivators had already grasped the power of Epoch Laws. They’d transcended the three stages of the Great Realm, and they could turn stone into gold or trash into treasure with but a touch.
“Creation” was thus the most appropriate title for the realm.
And Yu Jiu was stronger than any other early, mid, or late-stage Lesser God in history!
He had no need to ponder what he should do to attack, and neither did he waver. His essence, qi, spirit, and powers of the Grand Dao fused fully into his spear!
An attack like this would have been unstoppable against other Lesser Gods. It could have destroyed even the Limit Realm Mid-Rank Gods of the present day!
Su Yi’s eyes lit up. His will to fight instantly caught ablaze. It was just as he’d expected; Yu Jiu really was an opponent worth fighting! There was no need for Su Yi to suppress his cultivation base or hold back. He could unleash his full strength and fight to his heart’s content.
“Go!” Su Yi’s sleeves billowed as he charged and waved his sleeve. Sword qi shot forth, flowing like water.
In a flash, the two of them had clashed over one hundred times. Sword qi ran rampant, and layer upon layer of illusory spears flew throughout the sea of chaos clouds.
Clang!
A heaven-shaking impact rang out, and the two of them separated.
Su Yi’s blue robes swayed around him, entirely intact and unharmed. Meanwhile, a startling gash had split open on Yu Jiu’s shoulder. Any deeper, and his arm would have been cut clean off.
He pursed his lips, his expression now rather solemn. His aura rose, becoming more terrifying with each passing second.
“Die!” Yu Jiu leaped through the air and attacked once more.
Su Yi threw back his head, laughed, then jumped straight at his opponent. He never once retreated. Within moments…
Bang!
A muffled impact rang out. Yu Jiu’s spear flew from his grip, and tyrannical sword qi sent him flying explosively backward. Blood dripped from the corners of his mouth, and irrepressible astonishment appeared on his face.
Back in his epoch civilization of origin, he’d been able to kill any Mid-Rank God with ease. Yet now, while giving it his all, he’d suffered at the hands of the Great Profound Stage Su Yi. Twice!
His wounds weren’t overly serious, but there was no suppressing his astonishment.
“Again!”
Su Yi leaped through the air, dashing and unrestrained. With every gesture, unstoppable sword qi whooshed through the air.
“Die!” Yu Jiu bellowed, cast aside his scattered thoughts, and gathered the entirety of his essence, qi, and spirit, forgetting himself completely. He was now in a wondrous mental state perfect for combat.
His attacks continuously intensified, becoming mightier and more forceful with each passing breath. When his spear swept outward, it crushed the sky, breaking through the layers of chaos clouds!
But these attacks nonetheless crumbled before Su Yi, again and again and again.
He was getting stronger, but so was Su Yi!
Within moments, Yu Jiu was left riddled with wounds. Blood gushed from countless gashes.
Bang!
He was sent flying once more, and even after he landed, he staggered on his feet and struggled to remain upright. His face paled, and he breathed in ragged gasps.
Su Yi was just too terrifying! He was like an unshakeable divine mountain. Even when Yu Jiu gave it his all, he couldn’t move him!
By this point in the battle, how could Yu Jiu fail to grasp their relative strengths? He might have been the strongest Lesser God in history, but there was still a significant gap between him and Su Yi, who was not even a god yet.
“Can you still fight?” asked Su Yi. He’d obviously yet to get his fill. It had been a long, long time since he’d been able to fight wholeheartedly like this, and it was immensely satisfying.
“Of course!” Yu Jiu took a deep breath and attacked once more. He seemed to have steeled himself to go all out; everything he held in reserve was on full display.
But in the end, he was sent flying once more, his entire body smeared red.
Su Yi wanted to keep going, so when he saw this, he couldn’t help but find it a bit of a pity.
Yu Jiu was strong! He really was a worthwhile opponent, but… it was all he could do to fight back. He could counter-attack and struggle against Su Yi, but he had absolutely no hope of defeating him.
After all, Su Yi had been able to kill Mid-Rank Gods even before stepping into the Hidden Summit Realm. After reaching the Hidden Summit, he could even hold his own against Greater Gods!
Besides, since starting the Celestial Trials, his flesh, soul, and cultivation base had reached perfection in the Hidden Summit Realm.
Su Yi estimated that with his current strength, Greater Gods like Ren Beiyou and Wen Xiao wouldn’t be able to touch him in a one-on-one duel. If he pushed himself, he might even be able to kill them!
“I’ve lost…” Off in the distance, Yu Jiu admitted defeat. He wasn’t bitter or upset. Rather, he was frustrated.
How could he fail to realize that if Su Yi wanted him dead, he could have killed him many times over by now? Waiting any longer to admit defeat would seem far too senseless.
Su Yi walked over and helped him up. “We pursue different Daos. Ultimately, both victory and defeat are fleeting.”
Yu Jiu was stunned. He couldn’t help but ask, “I came here to target you. Don’t you… hate me?”
“There’s no grudge between us. Why should I hate you or your companions?” Su Yi laughed. “If anything, I ought to hate the one who sent you here.”
With that, he turned and left. His battle with Yu Jiu hadn’t been enough to satisfy him, so he planned to proceed straight to the fifth divine tower to duke it out with Bai Xiu.
“You really don’t want this good fortune?” asked Yu Jiu.
“Hold onto it. I’ve yet to become a god, so I have no use for it.” Su Yi waved without so much as a second look, and before long, he’d vanished completely from view.
When Yu Jiu saw this, he couldn’t help but sigh with admiration.
“No wonder that senior is targeting him. Even though he’s yet to become a god, his magnificent bearing and breadth of spirit are far beyond me.”
……
Outside the fourth divine tower.
When the crowd saw Su Yi emerge from the fourth tower so soon after entering, their expressions shifted subtly. Did Su Yi lose already? If not, why is he leaving so soon?
Those who’d been certain that Su Yi was no match for Yu Jiu couldn’t help but sigh in relief. This was how things should be. It would have been far stranger if Su Yi had won!
Those convinced Su Yi had had a chance at victory couldn’t help but sigh. This miracle… couldn’t last forever.
“Fellow Daoist Su, you needn’t lose heart. You set an unprecedented record in the first three trials. You’re unquestionably the greatest Great Profound Stage cultivator of any epoch!” Someone couldn’t help but approach to comfort Su Yi. “I trust that with your foundations in the Grand Dao, you’ll be able to create a legend all your own after proving your Dao and achieving divinity!”
Many others nodded. Su Yi might have lost, but he had more than enough reason to be proud, and no one here would criticize or mock him for his defeat!
Su Yi blinked in confusion. “Who says I lost?”
“???” The crowd didn’t know how to respond. He didn’t lose?
Su Yi, meanwhile, chuckled, shook his head, and went straight for the fifth divine tower.
To him, victory and defeat weren’t even worth mentioning. He naturally couldn’t be bothered to explain the situation to the crowd.
Shortly after he left, the crowd exploded into uproar.
“Don’t tell me… that Su Yi won?”
“Impossible! That senior broke the fourth tower’s record, making him the strongest Lesser God in history. How could he possibly have lost?”
“Su Yi must have realized that he was no match for that senior and given up of his own accord!”
The crowd conversed, all of them trying to find a rational explanation for it all.
But when Yu Jiu emerged from the tower covered in blood, there was no need for explanations. All of the debates and discussions instantly died down.
Complete silence ensued, to the point that you could have heard a pin drop!
Everyone stared in wide-eyed, slack-jawed shock. All they could think was, Su Yi… really won!!
Jian Xingyun, Li Mu, and Lu Kong had been waiting for the results of this duel. When they saw this, they couldn’t help but exchange glances. Tidal waves of shock coursed through their hearts.
Yu Jiu lost!
Yu Jiu had only just broken the fourth tower’s record, becoming the strongest figure among early, mid, and late-stage Lesser Gods in history, but now, he’d already lost to a Great Profound Stage young man! How long had his new record stood before being broken? Too little to even count!
A moment later, Jian Xingyun and the others realized where Su Yi was heading, and their hearts shook. He’s going to challenge Bai Xiu next!
When they realized this, even the badly bloodied Yu Jiu disregarded the severity of his wounds and raced toward the fifth divine tower.
There was no doubt about it. He wanted to watch the battle and see whether Su Yi or Bai Xiu emerged victorious!
Moments later, Jian Xingyun and the others suppressed their astonishment and followed him.
The crowd quickly came to their senses, reached the same conclusion, and followed suit.
Today, they’d witnessed one miracle after another. Yu Jiu, one of these miracles, had just been defeated, but Su Yi’s miracle was still ongoing. He was about to undergo the trials of the fifth tower! Who wouldn’t have paid attention?
Soon, everyone here, save for those undergoing trials themselves, had gathered around the fifth divine tower.
Su Yi, meanwhile, had already gone inside.
This was a trial designed specifically for peak Lesser Gods. Practically everyone who overcame it managed to break through. However, Su Yi wasn’t here for that; none of these tests and trials could help him realize his goal.
He was here to fight Bai Xiu!
…
Meanwhile, atop the fifth divine tower, in a sea of chaos clouds, Bai Xiu was flipping through a book. She was a delicate beauty with the air of a scholar.
She wore a plain ruqun skirt and blouse, and her long hair was tied back with a red string. She had no other adornments, and she looked pure, like one who’d risen out of the dust of mundanity.
But it was this tranquil, scholarly young woman who’d just broken the fifth tower’s record and defeated nine supreme peak Lesser Gods of past epochs!
Yu Jiu was unrivaled amongst early, mid, and late-stage Lesser Gods, but Bai Xiu was unquestionably the strongest Lesser God, period!
When Su Yi arrived and saw her, he asked with great interest, “What are you reading?”
Instead of answering, Bai Xiu furrowed her delicate brow and asked in a pleasing, elegant voice, “Tell me, is the height of your cultivation base really all that important?”
Su Yi was stunned for a moment, but then he laughed. “It’s important, but at the same time, it isn’t.”
“What do you mean?” Bai Xiu asked in apparent confusion.
Su Yi mulled that over. “Fight me, and no matter who wins, I’ll explain my answer to you in full detail.”
Bai Xiu closed the book, then looked at Su Yi for the first time.
“I hope your answer can clear up my doubts,” she whispered.
With that, she clasped her fist in greeting and said, “If you please.”
