Chapter 839 Spoiled Reunion
Kanami shrank down to her normal size as she flew towards the scene of the fiery tornado descending from the atmosphere.
Not just her, but the Euphrates and even Cthulhu stopped to stare at the arc of terrible heat.
A single figure emerged from the wall of flame.
A god wrapped in a dark furry cloak with scarlet hair and eyes who Kanami knew very well.
But he was wearing a face she didn’t recognize. Almost like… panic?
“Brother..?”
His eyes that seemed to have been searching for her trembled when she called for him.
He teleported across the distance between the two of them and embraced her tightly without holding back at all. She was one of the few beings he could hug with all his might and not injure.
Kanami was confused, but she hugged her brother back regardless.
She’d forgotten how much she missed this. Her family’s comfort.
There was only one person who could have made it better. But Kanami had spent so long trying not to think of him.
The toll it imposed upon her heart was not an insignificant one.
“Are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere??” Abaddon unglued himself from his sister and gave her an unprompted pat-down.
He ran his hands over her face and armor to make sure she hadn’t developed any serious holes in her skin that weren’t there when she left home.
“W-What are you doing??” Kanami popped away her brother’s hands and stared at him like he was a skin-walker. “Since when do you ask me if I’m okay??”
Honestly, it was a reasonable question to ask. Whether it was this timeline or the previous one, Abaddon had never worried about his younger sister. When it came to her, he usually fretted over everybody else’s wellbeing.
He bit his lip awkwardly. He’d rushed here without thinking as soon as Percival mentioned his sister.
Of course, he sent Ayaana to earth to check on Malenia’s wellbeing and make sure that she moved her family back home.
“You miss me so much you finally went crazy, huh?” Kanami made a gloating face. “I knew you needed me around to feel stable.”
Even though Abaddon’s heart was beating out of his chest with adrenaline, he couldn’t help but smile. He had missed his sister.
He had many nights where he had wanted to recall her before this, just so that she could sit and have a drink with him.
Perhaps he should have been grateful to that madman Percival. He’d given him a reason to do so ahead of schedule.
Abaddon hugged his sister again. It was tight, but not as crushing as before.
“Effective immediately, I need you and your troops to pull out. You are all going home.”
Kanami almost got whiplash. “What? But the mission isn’t over, we’ve got one, but as you can see..”
Kanami gestured over to her soldiers who were holding a writhing Cthulhu in black chains, waiting for order on what to do with him.
When they met Abaddon’s gaze, they bowed deeply without losing their grip on the beast.
Abaddon found Monica rather easily and she waived at him excitedly. He smiled warmly back.
“Look… I don’t care about the mission for now. I need you and everyone here to get home. Quickly.” He sighed.
Kanami was a great many things, but she was not always the most effective listener.
If she didn’t understand the reason behind why she was being asked to do something, 9 times out of 10 she wasn’t going to do it.
“What? That doesn’t make any sense, we’ve got Hastur’s scent, and the Goat Mother’s, and Tsathoggua-“
“I don’t care.” Abaddon shook his head hard. “They can wait, they aren’t as important to me as prioritizing your wellbeing.”
Kanami crinkled her nose in confusion. “My wellbeing? You fucking with me?”
Abaddon couldn’t exactly say that he didn’t understand her skepticism. If Abaddon and Ayaana were creation’s number twos, then Kanami was firmly at place at number three.
Abaddon knew that. And he did in fact trust his sister and her battle capabilities immensely.
He knew nothing could harm his sister, that was the reason he let her go everywhere she wanted with impunity.
He was a worrier prone to fretting over the wellbeing of everyone, but his youngest sister had never needed his coddling. She had his full confidence.
…Until he saw what was done to Gulban.
It had rattled him to his very core.
Inside of the universes he has personally created, Gulban is said to be akin to God.
And yet that man had somehow fallen into this miserable state with the person responsible not showing so much as a single wound.
He couldn’t shake the feeling it gave him. Percival had to be taken as a serious threat for the time being.
“I will explain everything when I get home, but for now I need you to listen to me when I tell you to do something. Go. Home. That is an order.”
Kanami’s eyes sparkled with hurt.
She hated for her brother to pull rank on her. And vice-versa, he hated to use it.
But Abaddon never would have done it if he didn’t need to get his sister home. Read exclusive content at My Virtual Library Empire
“…I understand… Emperor.”
Abaddon sighed. “Kanami, I just-“
Kanami slipped her helmet back on as her locust came back towards her. She jumped onto it’s back and flew towards her other soldiers.
“Euphrates!! We’re heading home!!”
The Euphrates bathed while they were out on missions, but they were starting to think that they hadn’t been doing a good enough job.
Because clearly, there was so much wax still left within their ears that they were now hearing their leader say things that she just wouldn’t say in a million years.
Leave? Now?
With an enemy still drawing breath?
What the fuck?
“Skin-Walker!” A soldier accused.
“I’m not a skin-walker, Delacroix! We’re going home, now!!”
To prove her claim, Kanami opened a portal into the sky that was big enough for all of them to fit into at once.
A luxury Kanami had that her brother didn’t was that her soldiers were much better listeners.
“What do we do with the creature??” One asked.
Kanami shot another scathing glance at her brother. “Leave it for the emperor to deal with. We evacuate on his orders.”
Though they didn’t understand, the black riders immediately retracted their chains and started flying towards home.
When the last soldier was through the opening, Kanami shot her brother a middle finger and left promptly afterwards- closing the portal behind her.
Abaddon sighed as he nursed his growing migraine.
But his headache was only about to get worse when Cthulhu roared in his ears rudely.
“Oh, shut up…”
Abaddon performed a single swipe with his sword and cut Cthulhu down the middle.
The only problem with this was, an annoyed Abaddon has difficulty controlling his strength.
So Abaddon didn’t just cut Cthulhu down the middle.
He cut everything in Cthulhu’s direction.
As the planet slowly lurched apart, the exposed core exploded- prompting the entire planet to explode.
But after a couple of moments, at least it was quiet again.
Though Abaddon did have his clothes blown apart by the explosion.
As soon as he made up his mind about what to do next, he got a text on his phone.
Pulling it out of his dimensional storage, he grimaced at the message already waiting for him.
Granny Asherah: Fix it, please.

One reconstructed planet later, Abaddon reappeared in the underground cavern where he’d left the rest of his family in a mad dash to save his sister.
Ayaana still wasn’t back, so she must’ve still been trying to convince Malenia to come back home.
Knowing her, she wouldn’t leave without her wife and husband, and they both had their own lives and loose ends that they couldn’t just abandon at the drop of a hat. Mateo especially.
And then there was Courtney too… Ayaana would likely make it mandatory she stay home for the time being.
He couldn’t imagine that going over well. Especially not with track, school, and her new friends.
It didn’t matter for now. They just had to get everyone recalled back home.
“Are you wearing new clothes..? Or am I just hallucinating..?” Gulban asked weakly.
“Long story, old man. Come on.” Abaddon helped his father-in law get to his feet gingerly.
Gulban sniffed him a bit and made a disgusted face. “You smell like an eldritch seafood boil.”
“…My sister had located Cthulhu when I got to her. I made her return home and dispatched it myself.”
“She’s going to bust your balls for that…”
“As long as she’s safe, that’s all that matters… but yes, she is.”
Abaddon opened up another portal that he prepared to take Gulban through.
Belloc, Straga, Thrudd, and Behemoth prepared to follow behind him.
“Wait a second.”
Abaddon glanced over his shoulder at Shin and his daughter.
“We’re coming with you. Joint operation and all that.”
“That’s okay, right?” Fiona asked, much more politely than her father.
Abaddon glanced back at then, and the dozen members of the order hanging around them.
“…Fine. But I’m not feeding you.”
Abaddon walked through the portal without another word, leaving Shin to roll his eyes as he trudged behind him.
“Who the hell needs you to feed us… Damn dragon.”
