Chapter 184: The Wrath of the Kings

The Council of Harmony was completely unrecognizable.

The pristine white stone walls were violently scored with deep, jagged gouges. The towering stained-glass windows had shattered into thousands of colorful shards. The beautiful morning light now cast a fractured glow across the ruins of the grand chamber.

In the center of the destruction stood a living nightmare.

The King Level Beast towered over the broken stone table. It was a massive, writhing spider constructed entirely of dense dark matter and suffocating shadows.

Jagged, scythe-like limbs stabbed deeply into the marble floor. Hundreds of uneven, rotting teeth ground together in a sickening rhythm.

The surviving royal guards trembled in the corners of the room.

Elite Elven rangers and heavy Dwarven infantry stared up at the towering monster. Their glowing spears and heavy axes shook in their hands.

They were hardened soldiers, but this was a world-ending threat. The sheer, suffocating pressure of the Miasma leaking from the beast made it hard for the ordinary soldiers to breathe.

"Fools," the beast hissed.

Dozens of overlapping, demonic voices echoed from its gaping maw. The sound scraped against the inside of the mind like rusted iron.

"You forced my hand. You stripped away my disguise. Now you will all rot in the dark."

The giant spider did not hesitate. It reared back on its hind legs.

It violently snapped two of its own elongated, shadowy scythe-limbs right off its main body. The severed limbs pulsed with volatile, highly unstable corrupted magic.

The beast hurled the detached scythes directly at the terrified royal guards.

BOOM!

The shadow-limbs detonated like massive magical bombs.

A terrifying shockwave of corrosive dark matter exploded across the chamber. The sheer concussive force lifted the heavily armored royal guards entirely off their feet.

They were thrown brutally against the far walls. They groaned in pain as the dark magic began to eat through their steel and enchanted leather.

The King Level Beast laughed. It was a horrible sound that vibrated the remaining stone pillars of the estate.

"Look at your elite protectors," the beast mocked.

It turned its dozens of glowing, bloody red eyes toward the faction leaders standing near the shattered table.

"You mistake yourselves for my equals. You are prey. This mountain is my table. Your World Tree is my meal. And when I unveil the power I have kept buried... your species will understand what it means to stand before a true calamity."

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the ruined chamber. The thick gray dust slowly began to settle.

Forge-King Thorgar stood perfectly still amidst the swirling destruction. His thick, braided red beard was covered in gray ash.

He casually brushed a speck of dust from his royal bronze armor. He looked up at the towering shadow spider.

He did not look terrified.

He did not look intimidated.

He looked incredibly disappointed.

"Is that it?" Thorgar asked deeply. His voice rumbled like a waking volcano.

The King Level Beast stopped laughing. Its many eyes narrowed in sudden confusion.

Thorgar took a slow, heavy step forward. He reached behind his back and gripped the handle of his glowing rune-hammer with both hands.

"You spent years crawling through the shadows," Thorgar growled, his neck popping as he slowly raised his gaze.

"You poisoned my cup because you feared meeting my eyes. You filled my ears with lies because truth was never on your side. You fractured my alliances with whispers, bargains, and betrayal because deception is the only battlefield where cowards believe they can win."

High-Warden Sylveth stepped up right beside the Dwarf King. The elegant Elven leader raised her chin.

Her green eyes glowed with a terrifying, unbridled celestial power. The air around her began to hum with lethal intent.

"We spent years wondering why the great King-Level Beast never descended upon our cities," Sylveth said softly, every word laced with aristocratic contempt.

"We assumed you were orchestrating a campaign worthy of your title. It never occurred to us that fear was the only strategy you possessed."

Thorgar spat a heavy glob of blood and soot onto the broken floor.

"But now I see the truth," Thorgar sneered.

He pointed his heavy hammer directly at the towering monster.

"You hid like a rat because you knew exactly what would happen if you fought us in the light. You are weak. You are a pathetic parasite."

The King Level Beast shrieked in pure, unadulterated fury. Its pride was deeply wounded. It raised its remaining shadowy scythes to impale the arrogant leaders where they stood.

Thorgar did not dodge. He slammed his rune-hammer directly into the stone floor.

[Valor of the Molten Core]

The temperature in the room skyrocketed instantly.

The solid white stone beneath the beast did not just crack. It instantly liquefied.

A massive, glowing caldera of bubbling orange magma erupted across the entire Council chamber.

The heat was utterly blinding. The air itself warped and shimmered like a desert mirage.

SKREEE!

The King Level Beast screamed in genuine, agonizing pain.

The boiling magma scorched its shadowy legs. The pure, unadulterated thermal energy of the earth’s core actively burned away the dark Miasma coating its bloated body. The shadows hissed and dissolved wherever the magma touched them.

Thorgar did not stop his assault. The Forge-King charged directly across the pool of lava.

The magma did not burn him. It empowered his every step.

He was a Level 200 apex predator. The epitome of Fear and Arrogance!

Thorgar leaped high into the sweltering air. He brought his massive hammer down with earth-shattering force.

CRACK!

The hammer struck the beast directly in its shifting, shadowy face. The kinetic impact was deafening.

The giant spider was violently thrown backward. It crashed heavily into a massive, load-bearing pillar. The stone column groaned under the immense weight.

The beast thrashed wildly in the magma. It opened its massive jaws. A sickening gurgle echoed from deep within its throat.

It spat a massive, highly pressurized stream of bubbling black acid directly at the falling Dwarf King.

The acid was lethal. It was designed to melt through enchanted bronze armor and Dwarven bone in mere seconds.

Sylveth did not even blink. She raised her slender, glowing hands.

[Valor of the Emerald Sun]

A blinding, incandescent light exploded from the Elven leader. It was not fire. It was pure, concentrated holy sunlight.

Massive, glowing vines erupted directly from the boiling magma floor. They were made of solid, emerald light. The vines formed a thick, impenetrable barrier in the air directly in front of Thorgar.

HISS!

The highly corrosive black acid slammed into the holy vines.

The dark magic was instantly neutralized. The blistering sunlight purified the dark liquid upon contact. It turned the deadly acid into harmless white steam before a single drop could touch the Dwarf King.

Sylveth gracefully lowered her hands. The glowing vines did not disappear. They shot forward like bolts of green lightning.

The emerald vines whipped viciously around the King Level Beast. They tightly bound its remaining scythe-limbs.

They wrapped securely around its bloated, shadowy abdomen. The holy light seared the dark matter, burning the monster with the terrifying intensity of a dying star.

Sylveth ruthlessly dragged her hands downward.

The massive vines violently yanked the King Level Beast toward the ground. They pinned the shrieking spider directly onto the bubbling surface of Thorgar’s magma floor.

"Every creature chooses the world it belongs to," Sylveth said softly.

"The righteous walk beneath the sun. Vermin flee from it."

The beast thrashed in absolute, helpless agony. The magma burned its flesh from below. The holy vines crushed its shell from above.

Draven stood perfectly still near the ruined doorway. Nyx and Lucien stood closely guarding his flanks.

Draven watched the brutal, one-sided slaughter. He coughed softly into his hand, feeling the severe, aching strain on his failing lungs. He did not need to step into this fight. He did not need to cast a single vector.

He was witnessing the true, terrifying scale of Level 200 Awakenings.

The Forge-King and the High-Warden were not just politicians in fancy robes. They were walking natural disasters.

They commanded the very elements of the world. They were the strongest beings on the continent for a very good reason.

The King Level Beast realized it was going to die.

It could not overpower the crushing holy vines. It could not endure the searing heat of the magma pool.

In a fair, head-to-head fight against the united faction leaders, it was completely outmatched. It was being butchered like a common field monster.

It needed to escape. It needed to break the stalemate right now.

The giant spider stopped trying to pull its limbs free from the glowing roots.

It went eerily still.

It turned its dozens of glowing red eyes upward. It looked at the massive, intricately carved stone pillars holding up the towering ceiling of the grand estate.

The beast began to violently channel all of its remaining dark matter into the tips of its pinned scythes.

It was not preparing a counterattack against the Kings. It was preparing a coward’s gambit.

Draven narrowed his pitch-black eyes. He saw the dark magic rapidly building in the beast’s trapped limbs.

The ambient mana in the room was shifting dangerously toward the ceiling supports.

’It is going to bring the roof down,’ Draven realized grimly.
