Extra's Death: I Am the Son of Hades

Chapter 720: A Hidden Mastermind, Ancient Dragon Blood

Chapter 720: A Hidden Mastermind, Ancient Dragon Blood

“You know Velkaria?” Felix asked back.

Neo nodded slowly.

“Velkaria told us ’someone’ told its master—the Outer God Yaleth—that it was killed on Earth. In other words, someone sent Velkaria here. We wanted to find that person, since they caused a lot of damage to our world.”

Neo’s expression darkened.

The memories of Velkaria were not distant ones.

His previous reincarnation of Hades and his mother had both died at its hands.

“Why were you searching for that person?” Neo asked.

“There was a chance they could leak our location to the Universal Alliance. We couldn’t find them, so we started backtracking Yaleth.

“There was also the chance this person sent Velkaria to confirm Yaleth’s death. If so, they’d want to steal Yaleth’s research on Soul Weapons,” Felix said.

Neo forward.

“But the one who took Yaleth’s information about Soul Weapons is—”

“Not Kevin,” Felix interrupted smoothly. “Because of a contract, I can’t tell you how I confirmed this. But the person who stole Yaleth’s research wasn’t Kevin. They were only impersonating him.”

“But why?”

Neo’s brows creased further.

Arthur, who had been silent until then, spoke again. “It might be because you.”

Neo turned to him, startled.

“…Me?”

Felix continued. “Given your strength and potential, maybe this person wanted you to fight Kevin. We can’t say for sure. We don’t have enough information. Even Percival hasn’t been able to find anything on them.”

Neo sat quietly, absorbing everything.

The bar’s noise continued faintly in the background, but the weight of the conversation pressed down harder than any sound.

And somewhere deep in his chest, unease stirred again.

His thoughts spun without pause.

Was it really him this mysterious person was targeting?

And if so, why?

What were they planning to do with Yaleth’s stolen research on Soul Weapons?

Damn it, I should’ve talked about Soul Weapons with Kevin.

Back then he had been a mess, both emotionally and mentally.

He had been too unstable to think clearly, too overwhelmed by everything happening.

He’d left without asking the questions that mattered, convincing himself he could return later and pick it up again.

“Why is everything coming up at the same time?” Neo muttered under his breath.

Felix tilted her head, watching him closely. “There’s a problem coming up?”

Her tone wasn’t teasing anymore.

She had picked up the tension behind his words.

“There might be,” Neo admitted. He leaned forward, lowering his voice. “Can you show me your Dragon Mark?”

Felix raised her arm without hesitation.

The skin on her forearm shimmered faintly, then darkened as the mark became visible.

It looked like an ink-black tattoo etched into her flesh, a dragon caught mid-flight with its wings spread wide and talons reaching forward.

The lines seemed almost alive, shifting faintly with every flicker of light.

Neo studied it for a long moment.

His expression didn’t change, but inwardly, he cursed.

“Where did you get it?” he asked finally.

“The Ancient Dragons gave it to me. They said it would help me track ancient dragons with the name Hargraves. My new mission was to kill them.”

Neo clenched his jaw. Damn it.

Felix narrowed her eyes. “What is it?”

“My bloodline,” Neo said slowly, “is an Ancient Dragon bloodline.”

Felix blinked. “What? But Layla—”

“She hasn’t awakened her Ancient Dragon Blood yet,” Neo cut in. “That’s why the mark doesn’t detect her. But I’ve already awakened some of mine.”

During his time in Tartarus, he had devoured several smaller Nyxtharions.

The act had deepened his draconic essence, strengthening draconic traits.

It was the only explanation that explained how the mark could track him.

Back them, his ancient dragon bloodline had been partially awakened.

But I don’t feel any different. I can’t feel any power within me like what I felt from brother.

Neo put a stop to those thoughts for now.

“If there’s a tracker in that mark that links to my bloodline, then the Ancient Dragons already know where I am.”

The table went quiet. Even Felix’s confident expression tightened, the easy grin gone.

“That’s… not good,” she said finally, her voice dropping.

“No, it’s not,” Neo agreed.

If the Ancient Dragons had given Felix the mark, then they would’ve left contingencies.

They’d be monitoring it.

And if they realized Felix hadn’t completed her mission—if she wasn’t hunting them the way she was supposed to, or had failed—they’d know something had gone wrong.

They wouldn’t send messengers after that.

They’d come themselves.

Felix’s gaze hardened.

“The Ancient Dragons won’t stay still after this. If they believe I’ve failed, they’ll move.”

Neo sighed. “I’m sorry for endangering Earth—”

“Don’t start that,” Jack cut him off sharply. “Let’s focus on the issue at hand. Do any of you have a plan?”

Neo didn’t hesitate. “I’ll put Earth inside my Cosmos. That way, no matter what happens, the planet itself will be safe.”

Felix frowned. “And what about you? Can you enter your own Cosmos?”

Neo shook his head. “No. I can’t.”

“Then they’ll target you,” Jack said. “You’ll be the one left exposed.”

“That’s fine. It’s me they’re coming after, not Earth, not anyone else. So I should be the one facing them.”

“Don’t act like you can carry this by yourself. If the Ancient Dragons make a move, you won’t be able to handle it alone. You know that.” Jack leaned forward with a sharp voice.

“I’ll have to face them sooner or later. And if I don’t, they’ll keep circling until they strike. Better to meet them head on than wait.” Neo held his ground.

Felix tilted her head, studying him. Her eyes searched his face, and then she smirked faintly.

“Still the same, huh. Always ready to walk into hell first.”

Arthur, who had been silent for most of the exchange, finally spoke. His voice was steady, carrying none of Felix’s teasing tone.

“We will help.”

Neo glanced at him. Arthur’s expression was calm but firm, leaving no room for argument.

Neo shook his head slightly. “Arthur—”

“We will help,” Arthur repeated himself. “We can’t let you carry everything on your own all the time. You’ve…. done too much already.”

Before Neo could speak Arthur spoke, “Percival told me about the Age of Gods. You have done more than enough already.”

It seemed Arthur wanted to apologize for what had happened yesterday.

But perhaps it was his pride, or perhaps something else, he showed he wanted to do better but never apologized.

“Alright.”

Neo let out a sigh.

“I won’t force you guys to go inside my Cosmos. But I will still put Earth there. We can’t endanger civilians.”

“Jack and I will inform the Goddess from Forgotten Suns about Ancient Dragons,” Felix said.

“I will ask Grim Reapers about the Ancient Dragons. They might know their weakness, if it exists. Also, I want to fuse my Path into Earth. I need all of you and other leaders of Earth to agree before I can do that.”

“Did you ask Amelia for the same?” Felix questioned.

“….You are right. I don’t think all leaders will agree,” Neo said. “Then, is it fine if I give my Path to people of your continents?”

“That’s a good idea!” Felix’s eyes sparkled. “What’s your Path though? Is it good? Will it make me powerful?”
