Chapter 207: Coaxing: Obediently Kissed, and Even Proactive

Chapter 207: Chapter 207: Coaxing: Obediently Kissed, and Even Proactive

"I didn’t leave!"

A tart voice emerged from the darkness, nearly making Yun Sheng jump.

She turned toward the sound and saw Xing Che standing in the shadows not far away.

His face was dark, hands stuffed in his pockets, jaw clenched tight. His entire posture screamed ’unhappy’.

Before Yun Sheng could say a word, Si Jin had already murmured coolly,

"He lost and was ashamed, so he was deliberately keeping quiet."

Xing Che’s face darkened further.

"Big deal, you won?" His voice rose with a resentful edge. "You’re the former War God, rich with battle experience, and you still only beat me by a single move."

Si Jin looked at him, his expression unchanging. "A win is still a win."

Xing Che glared at him as if trying to burn a hole right through him.

"So what? You’re still the one who can’t openly protect Shengsheng. You have to rely on me for that."

Si Jin’s brow twitched.

’If it weren’t for that, it wouldn’t have been a victory by a single move. Xing Che wouldn’t have a chance to be near Yun Sheng ever again.’

But he couldn’t say that. Nor would he deign to!

Sensing Si Jin’s mood suddenly plummet, Yun Sheng reached out and took his hand.

Her fingers were cool to the touch. Her grip wasn’t strong, yet she held his hand with a steadiness that felt like a silent promise.

Si Jin glanced down at their intertwined hands, the tension in his brow easing slightly. He tightened his grip in return, pressing his palm against hers.

Standing to the side, Xing Che watched their fingers interlace. The light in his amber-gold eyes dimmed.

He grit his teeth, holding back for two seconds before he just couldn’t take it anymore.

"Shengsheng," he sidled closer, his voice a mix of tartness and grievance. "I need comforting, too. I’m the one who lost, so why are you comforting him?"

"You lost and you expect to be praised for it?" Si Jin cut in before Yun Sheng could respond.

Xing Che’s face darkened again. He pressed his lips together, but ultimately said nothing more. He just turned away to stare at the pitch-black woods in the distance, his entire face taut.

The night breeze stirred the stray hairs on his forehead. No matter how one looked at it, his figure seemed desolate.

Seeing him like that, Yun Sheng couldn’t help but let out a soft sigh.

"Xing Che," she called.

Xing Che didn’t turn around.

"Thank you."

Xing Che’s ears twitched, and he finally turned his head.

He looked at Yun Sheng, looking like he wanted to say something, but he swallowed it back down.

In the end, he just mumbled sullenly, "That’s more like it."

He turned his face away again, but this time, the corner of his mouth curved up ever so slightly before he quickly flattened it.

For some reason, Yun Sheng found him a little cute. She had the urge to reach out and pinch his cheek, but she suppressed the thought as soon as it surfaced.

She looked up at Si Jin, rising onto her tiptoes to whisper in his ear, "Didn’t you say that if he lost, you wouldn’t let him stay by my side? So why...?"

She hadn’t been able to follow them earlier, so she had no idea how the fight between Si Jin and Xing Che had played out, or what Si Jin had said to Xing Che after his victory.

Si Jin was silent for a moment before saying coolly, "You still need someone to protect you."

’So, he was still doing it for her sake.’

A wave of tenderness washed through Yun Sheng. She leaned forward slightly, slipping her other arm around Si Jin’s waist and hugging him gently.

Si Jin froze for a moment, then tightened his arms, pulling her completely into his embrace.

He rested his chin on the crown of her head, nuzzling it gently. His voice was low, laced with a hoarseness that came from long-held restraint.

"Yun Sheng."

Yun Sheng buried her face in his chest, listening to the steady, powerful beat of his heart without looking up.

The night wind slipped between them, catching a strand of her hair and tangling it on his collar.

Si Jin looked down at her for a long time before slowly leaning in. One hand gently tilted her chin up as he lowered his head and kissed her.

The kiss was light, his lips just pressing against hers, not deepening. He simply held them there, his warm breath caressing her face.

He didn’t close his eyes; his blue irises quietly watched Yun Sheng.

He was watching her reaction. If she was unwilling, he would pull back.

Yun Sheng’s eyelashes fluttered, but she didn’t shy away or push Si Jin away.

Her hand slid up from his waist to gently grip his shoulder, her fingertips tightening slightly.

Si Jin’s breath hitched, and the once-gentle, tentative kiss instantly deepened.

The kiss made Yun Sheng’s legs feel weak. She clutched the fabric on his shoulder, leaning her entire weight into his embrace and letting him pull her into the intoxicating depths.

Xing Che stood rooted to the spot, watching the two entangled figures. His face was devoid of expression, but his fists were clenched tight.

But he didn’t move or make a sound. He just watched in silence.

He watched Si Jin kiss Yun Sheng. Watched as she offered no resistance. Watched as they clung to each other like two magnets that had finally found their counterpart, leaving no room for anyone else to get in between.

His Adam’s apple bobbed. He suddenly spun around and walked away, heading deep into the forest.

His footsteps were light, but they grew quicker with every stride.

Xing Che had lost the duel. He wasn’t a fool; he knew Si Jin had been holding back.

So this time, he had no reason to stop them, and no right to either!

Hearing Xing Che’s footsteps fade into the distance, Yun Sheng finally let out a sigh of relief.

A moment later, she felt a light nip on her lip. It didn’t hurt, but it was clearly a gesture of discontent.

Si Jin reached out and tapped her nose, his voice low and tinged with jealousy. "You’re distracted."

Yun Sheng looked at him and suddenly smiled.

It was a faint smile, but it started in her eyes, spreading out like a lantern suddenly lit in the dark.

She rose onto her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around his neck, pulled his head down, and kissed him.

This time, she was the one taking the lead.

Si Jin’s breath immediately hitched.

Whatever he had been suppressing for so long in those blue eyes finally, completely shattered!

His lips crashed down on hers. Gone was the gentle testing from before, replaced by a plundering, undeniable claim.

He kissed her so hard it made her lips go numb and her tongue ache, as if he wanted to crush her and devour her whole, as if he was trying to make up for all his previous self-control in one go.

Si Jin’s kiss made Yun Sheng lose her footing, and she stumbled backward. His arm instantly tightened, locking her securely in his embrace.

His other hand cradled the back of her head, allowing no retreat, no escape.

His kisses trailed from her lips to their corner, from the corner to her jaw, and then all the way down, landing on the softly pulsing skin of her neck.

Yun Sheng’s breathing was a wreck. Her fingers threaded into Si Jin’s hair and tightened, unsure if she was trying to push him away or pull him even closer.

Si Jin lifted his head, his blue eyes churning with a desire that threatened to spill over. His voice was a low, impossibly sexy murmur.

"Don’t provoke me. Otherwise, I’m afraid I won’t be able to hold back."

’He’d been holding back ever since the moment he saw Xing Che.’

’He’d thought he could endure it, but the moment she initiated the kiss, all of his self-control had shattered!’

Seeing the pained restraint in his eyes, Yun Sheng’s heart clenched. She felt a pang of both heartache and guilt.

She reached out, gently cupped Si Jin’s face, and looked at him with eyes full of love.

"Si Jin, you don’t have to hold back. This is my fault. It’s me... You can yell at me, you can blame me... you... You can do whatever you want."
