Even After My Death

Chapter 747: 642: About Last Night, I’m Sorry

Chapter 747: Chapter 642: About Last Night, I’m Sorry

The morning light flowed in like honey through the half-drawn gauze curtains, casting golden spots over the disheveled sheets.

Jiang Ning’s mind wasn’t fully awake yet, but her body felt a sense of discomfort as she realized a pair of strong, slender arms held her waist tightly, and a heavy leg was draped over her like an octopus securing its prey.

Jiang Ning furrowed her brows, shaking her head slightly, then slowly opened her eyes.

The first thing she saw was a fuzzy black head. Xingzhou, with his head buried against her, was sleeping soundly.

Judging from his long limbs draped over Jiang Ning, pressing her down tightly, it was obvious that in his sleep he had taken her as a comforting companion.

Staring at the ceiling, images from before she fell asleep last night flooded Jiang Ning’s mind, and her vaguely confused eyes rapidly gained clarity.

Jiang Ning remembered.

Last night, she had completely passed out because of Xingzhou.

In the bathroom, Xingzhou was awkward and uneasy like a well-behaved child, enduring his discomfort quietly and only ever letting out soft sighs, relying wholly on Jiang Ning’s initiative.

After Jiang Ning helped him just once, an entirely new world opened up for Xingzhou.

He was inconceivably excited, like a hyperactive puppy, affectionately nuzzling and nipping at Jiang Ning, intuitively pinning her against the wall, unable to stop.

Until the hot water ran out and cold water doused them both.

Jiang Ning motioned to Xingzhou, urging him back to the bedroom.

She thought that two times would be enough for the effect of the medicine on Xingzhou to wear off, but once they returned to the bedroom, he became more restless, his actions growing more intense, ignoring Jiang Ning’s attempts to stop him.

In the end, Jiang Ning had no idea how she finally fell asleep.

Looking down at the person sleeping soundly atop her, Jiang Ning carefully tried to move, eager to slip out from under Xingzhou.

But as soon as she moved, she was instantly stunned.

The warm skin-to-skin contact.

She and Xingzhou were both naked!

And that movement made Jiang Ning realize something else.

The person on top of her, whose even breathing had ceased at some point, suddenly grew tense.

Underneath Xingzhou’s elegant and handsome features, his long eyelashes quivered slightly, like the wings of a butterfly.

Jiang Ning: “…”

She couldn’t hold back, reaching out to pat him: “If you’re awake, stop pretending to sleep.”

There were only Jiang Ning and Xingzhou in the room, and it was obvious to whom she was speaking.

Feigning sleep, Xingzhou immediately opened his eyes, those beautiful eyes completely clear, devoid of any drowsiness.

Xingzhou’s bright and fervent gaze fell on Jiang Ning as their bodies pressed closely together, the distance between them no more than a breath away, close enough that a slight move of Xingzhou’s head could bring his lips to Jiang Ning’s cheek.

Xingzhou had awoken around two or three in the morning.

Looking at Jiang Ning beneath him, scenes from last night rushed through his mind, his emotions turbulent and conflicted.

He was full of energy, holding Jiang Ning for quite a while before carefully getting out of bed to gently clean the already sleeping Jiang Ning, the bed left in disarray—he even carried her to the guest room next door.

Then, he dashed into the bathroom for a quick shower, racing to climb back into Jiang Ning’s bed, too excited to sleep until dawn.

As soon as Jiang Ning stirred, Xingzhou was awake.

He didn’t move, waiting to see how she would react.

Xingzhou watched Jiang Ning’s face, observing closely.

Seeing no signs of anger or disgust on Jiang Ning’s face, Xingzhou held her tighter, blushing slightly like a shy new bride: “Ning Ning, how did you know I was awake?”

Jiang Ning teased him: “Your eyelashes were moving so much, they almost fanned me into a cold.”

Her face bore a smile as she said this.

Unable to hold back, Xingzhou lowered his head, affectionately nuzzling Jiang Ning: “Can I still kiss you?”

His words brought back a rush of steamy images from last night into Jiang Ning’s mind, as his heated touch enveloped her.

Xingzhou held her tightly, kissing and nibbling, overpowering in a way that even Jiang Ning’s kicks couldn’t dissuade.

Jiang Ning had never been in a relationship before; Xingzhou was her first boyfriend.

And though they had been officially a couple for three years, they had always been proper, never crossing the line into intimacy.

This was the first time they woke up together in the same bed.

Their relationship had suddenly progressed rapidly, leaving Jiang Ning feeling far from as calm as she appeared on the surface.

“No,” she refused flatly.

Xingzhou’s eyes dimmed, afraid that his behavior last night had displeased Jiang Ning.

But then he heard Jiang Ning say: “We haven’t brushed our teeth yet; let’s kiss after that.”

With that, Jiang Ning suddenly felt a weight upon her.

Xingzhou couldn’t help but embrace Jiang Ning tightly, his eyes shining like stars, his voice brimming with excitement: “I thought… you never wanted to be close to me again.”

Jiang Ning couldn’t quite comprehend his erratic emotions, and Xingzhou quickly calmed down, his affection for Jiang Ning palpable.

Moments later, his voice low and earnest, Xingzhou apologized to Jiang Ning: “I’m sorry about last night.”
