Chapter 3016: Conjectures

Chapter 3016: Conjectures

The Worldly Laws finally left the Vermilion Palace, the phenomenon fully gone. And still, the shock it left behind was one that couldn’t easily be erased.

Even now, there were many senses that constantly attempted to figure out who had called upon such an outstanding sight, keeping themselves from forcing their way into that room only because the Matriarch had given the order not to.

The Matriarch herself was impatient, wanting to see Alex immediately to ask him how he had done all that he had. However, she knew better than to disrupt him now.

He had just learned seven Daos, four of which were Time Daos, and had broken through as well. He needed some more time, which she was willing to give him.

Kangli and her husband left, leaving their mother all by herself. The Matriarch stayed there for a while before Ningzhu returned, now having sent off the many beasts that had come to see what had happened.

He wondered how they would take the obvious lie.

“Aunt Rinzhou, I’m worried they might consider our words’ lack of forthcoming answers to be a disrespect,” he explained. “Should we have at least mentioned that it was something important that we couldn’t talk about?”

“There’s no need to say that,” the Matriarch said. “Our words have already had that effect. I will tell them the truth, but not now.”

“When?” Ningzhu asked.

The Matriarch thought for a moment. “When is the next four families gathering again?”

“The Heavenly Beast Tournament?” Ningzhu asked. “That is about 120 years away.”

“Oh, that’s closer than I thought. I will explain the situation during the gathering,” she said. “We will have much to talk about.”

Ningzhu nodded.

“When should we call him? I’m sure you wish to speak to him,” Ningzhu said.

“Not yet,” the Matriarch said. “Let him consolidate his cultivation base. We have time.”

“I’m sorry, Matriarch. I could not find any answer,” Xuan Lingkai, the tortoise half of the Black Tortoise, said. Her sister was still in the Phoenix Continent when she gave the message to the Matriarch.

“You did well,” a pleasant voice came from deep underwater, soothing Lingkai’s ears. “You did well, granddaughter. You’ve given me exactly what I wanted.”

The lack of information was information itself.

The Black Tortoise Matriarch, both the snake and the tortoise, couldn’t help but be amused at what they had found out.

“More evidence adds up, doesn’t it, sister?” the snake asked.

“It surely does, sister,” the tortoise said. “So one of them is here.”

“They’re here indeed,” the snake said. “They won’t be a beast, would they?”

“No,” the tortoise said. “They would be a human. Speaking of human, wasn’t there a human here just a while ago?”

“The Sword God? Surely she isn’t the Moon Goddess. We would have found out long ago if she was,” the snake said.

“No,” the tortoise said. “But I remember hearing they were not alone.”

“Hmm,” the snake thought through what she was told. “Lingkai, have you any information about who came with the Sword God?”

“The Sword God?” the Matriarch’s granddaughter asked. “I believe there were two other humans in her group, and a beast that took them here. That beast was the one we recently learned about.”

“The one the Azure Dragon Patriarch wrote to us about?” the tortoise half of the Matriarch asked. “I don’t believe it can be the beast then. What about the humans?”

“The Sword God should have left long ago along with the humans,” Lingkai said.

“Find out if that is true,” the snake half of the Matriarch said.

A moment passed with nothing but silence. Then, Lingkai spoke again. “Bai Fulin says one of them is still in this world, back in the White Tiger’s palace.”

“Good work, Lingkai. Go with Fulin and see if you can meet with this human. Learn what you can about him.”

The two halves of the Matriarch couldn’t help but smile at what they had just learned.

“Let us not get hasty, sister. Let Lingkai meet him and report back first. We cannot be sure this is him.”

“You’re right, sister,” the other one said. “We will be patient.”

The White Tiger Patriarch was confused.

“Why did you bring her with you?” he asked Bai Fulin. “What does she want?”

“I don’t know. She randomly asked about the Sword God and if all humans left with her,” Bai Fulin said. “I was going to lie, but Qing Zhangru was right there and he would tell I was lying immediately. So I could only tell the truth.”

The Patriarch frowned. “Try to delay her. We will have to make her think he’s in deep cultivation until he finally returns. On that note, no one can see him returning either.”

Bai Fulin nodded. “I’ll set up a—”

“No,” the Patriarch said. “I’ll ask young Jingshen to do it. He’s the best one to handle this.”

“How can it be?” the Azure Dragon Patriarch asked. “I clearly tested his bloodline. It was weak, not even worth looking at. How could such a beast be able to learn such a strong Dao?”

“I don’t know, Patriarch, but this is the only answer I thought of that made sense,” Qing Zhangru said. “An Immortal who just managed to break through and also learned Spatial Dao. It could be that White Tiger.”

“I would’ve sensed it,” the Patriarch said.

“Maybe they found a way to hide it?” Qing Zhangru said. “What if his bloodline is actually strong? We did confirm he was Tianchui’s son, so maybe all that talk about him losing his bloodline was a lie.”

The Patriarch frowned. “You’re saying they purposefully hid it?” he asked. “What reason would they have for that?”

“I don’t know,” Qing Zhangru said. “But what if they did? What would that mean? Could they get ahead on this new battleground that is forming? Wouldn’t the White Tigers get a head start on gathering other bloodlines?”

“Hmm…” the Patriarch paused for a few moments, lost in thought. “Let’s… not be hasty. This is nothing but conjecture right now. Unless you can prove the bloodline is there, it means nothing.”
