Chapter 2977: Invoke the Vows
Chapter 2977: Invoke the Vows
Alex walked past Bai Fulin, who held a strange look on her face as he walked by. Among the group, she was the only outsider to know the truth of who Alex was, and that knowledge made her feel awkward around him.
The other White Tiger, whose name Alex had still not caught, stood up all of a sudden, getting in front of Alex.
“What do you think you’re doing, little human?” he asked, a killing intent flaring out of him immediately, pressing on Alex.
Alex felt the strength of his Intent, very quickly understanding just how strong the beast was. It was surely a beast at least in the Divine Manifestation realm.
“Weiwen,” the patriarch’s voice came. “I called for him. Sit down.”
The White Tiger turned around with a confused look. “Patriarch? Why would you call for him?” he asked.
“Sit. Down.”
The patriarch’s voice was soft among all the other noises in the ship, but to the few that were close enough, there was nothing more deafening.
The White Tiger known as Weiwen immediately shook a little and slowly lowered himself, backing away from Alex.
Alex stood still for a bit, surprised by the patriarch’s stern response. Then, he walked on ahead and went over to the patriarch.
“You wanted to see me, senior?” Alex asked when he arrived next to Bai Zhuqiang. He could feel the gazes of the others behind him, drilling him with their questions and curiosities.
It wasn’t just the White Tigers or the Azure Dragons that were surprised, but also the rest of the beasts that had come with them.
Seeing humans alone in these sorts of places was extremely rare to begin with. And here was Alex, standing next to the Patriarch of one of the Heavenly Beasts.
Even if Alex was someone high in the Divine realms, this would’ve still been a very confusing and surprising situation to the beasts. So, his weak cultivation base added to their questions even more.
The patriarch gestured to the empty spot next to him. “Sit here.”
Alex sat down and waited.
“We will arrive at the Azure Dragons’ palace very soon, so I realize there is something important that must be done,” the White Tiger said. “So I wanted to ask for your opinion on what should be done.”
“In regards to Pearl?” Alex asked. “I think we should see if they will accept—”
“No, not young Shouchuang,” the patriarch said. “In regards to you.”
“Me?” Alex asked in surprise. “What about me?”
“What you are,” the patriarch said. “We need to discuss whether we should let the other heads of families know of this, or if you wish to keep holding on to this for a while.”
Alex paused for a moment. He hadn’t even considered this at all. Did he now have to go tell the other four leaders that he was the Sun God?
Was he even the Sun God just yet?
“How important do you think it is that I tell them now?” Alex asked. “Is there any advantage or disadvantage to delaying it?”
“I couldn’t really tell you that,” the patriarch said. “It’s your decision to invoke our vows whenever you want to. So in the end, you will have to decide.”
Alex frowned. “I don’t want to make any decision prematurely. I don’t even know what I’m deciding anyway.”
The patriarch gave him a weird look. “Do you really have no idea?” he asked.
Alex shook his head. “Should I?”
“Were you really not the one who spoke back then?”
“Back then?” Alex asked, quickly thinking back to the day in the hall room where he had met the patriarch. The Sun God had then spoken to the patriarch, saying a few things that Alex couldn’t fully understand.
“No, that wasn’t me. That was the Sun God.”
“His vestiges must be showing through you,” the patriarch said. “Then I assume you do not know about the Heavenly Beasts’ vows either. You wouldn’t be able to invoke it without knowing what it was.”
Alex shook his head. “I don’t know. Can you tell me?” he asked.
The patriarch remained silent for a long time, seemingly lost in thought. Alex waited on the beast to speak again, which he only did nearly a minute later.
“The Sun God will return to invoke our vows,” the patriarch said. “If you do not know what it is yet, then you may have to wait until you do.”
Alex narrowed his eyes. “Do you expect me to learn about your vows on my own?” he asked.
“The Sun God will know. Since you are the Sun God, you will know,” the patriarch said. “So I will wait for the time when you learn it.”
Alex frowned. He wanted to learn more, but it didn’t look like he was going to learn anything.
“Since you won’t tell me anything, I don’t really have much to use to prove that I am the Sun God,” Alex said. “Especially when I’m this weak.”
“You could always do what you did with me,” the patriarch said.
Alex very quickly shook his head. He didn’t know about the situation enough to do it again, especially when it was likely the ’madness’ that Memory talked about.
“I cannot do it unless I am in real danger,” Alex said. “And I don’t wish to be put into such a spot.”
“I understand,” the patriarch said. “Then I won’t speak of it. I will let you decide when you are ready to reveal this information to others.”
Alex nodded. “Thank you.”
There wasn’t anything else to talk about with the patriarch anymore, so Alex went back to Pearl and Bai Jingshen and told them what he had conversed with the patriarch about.
“The Heavenly Beasts’ vows?” Bai Jingshen asked. “I’m afraid this bit of information is not something I’m familiar with. We inherit the vow along with the blessing in our bloodline, so no living Heavenly Beast knows what the vow is themselves, maybe only through records. Which is to say, unless you invoke our vows, we will never know for certain what the vow is.”
