Chapter 2864: Void Opening
Chapter 2864: Void Opening
Once Alex and Bladedance left the sect’s territory, they went deeper into the core region where there would be fewer people and beasts to distract them from what they were doing.
Once they found a region that was good enough for what they wanted to do, Bladedance had Alex bring her down to the sand. As she landed, she brought out her sword while feeling the region around to see how strong the space was.
“Are we starting right away?” Alex asked in surprise.
“Of course,” Bladedance said. “Why should we wait?”
Alex supposed that was true. “What exactly do we do?” he asked. “I imagine you’ve given it some thought while I was busy cultivating.”
Bladedance nodded. “It’s simple. I cut through space, open a void, and you stabilize it long enough to take in as much aura as you can from it. I will help too, but since my Intent isn’t attuned with the Void, it won’t work as well as yours will.”
Bladedance said it so simply, as if it was as easy as boiling a pot of water, that Alex wanted to complain a bit. But in the end, it was really that simple.
Absurdly difficult it may be, but it was not complex.
“Alright, let’s do it then,” he said as he prepared himself.
Bladedance took out her Creation, the silver sword, and took a deep breath. She brought herself to a state where she could cut space itself.
Alex looked at her, feeling the aura around her change. Space distorted slightly around her after a while, and Bladedance swung her sword.
The speed of her sword swing took Alex by surprise. Death had been fast, but Bladedance didn’t give much focus to speed it seemed. Her swing was fast, but not so much that Alex couldn’t follow it.
The swing tore through space, parting two silver lines in the fabric of reality. The tear was a mere meter long vertically, and the slit that opened through it was barely 2 centimeters. Even through that, one could see the world of silver and purple hidden behind that veil.
Alex moved the moment her sword swing was completed and drove his fingers through the tiny slit. He forced Space aura into his palm and used it to pull it open. The tear grew wider and wider, and deep Space and Time aura flooded out of it.
Alex looked into the Void, the swirling colors a pathway out of Hell. If not for the fact that he knew there was no exit from here should he enter now, he would have jumped in long ago.
He needed an exit after entering, and if there wasn’t one, he needed to open an exit himself. That meant he didn’t only need to find a way to maneuver the realm inside, but also find a way out of it.
Finding a Voidgate would be a lucky matter, but those were incredibly hard to come by, and depending on those would be the same as depending on lightning for fire during a cold night with a cloudless sky.
Alex quickly cleared his mind of all thought and closed his eyes as he felt the pure aura coming out of the Void. He could feel the knowledge ingrained in those aura, and he wasted no time taking them in.
Bladedance stood to the side, surprised. She was ready to help Alex keep the pathway to the Void open, but he had handled it himself fully. She wasn’t needed at all.
For someone who had come from a lower realm, he was far too learned, given the lack of opportunities those people got.
But then, those usually were the most talented cultivators, considering they managed to surpass billions and billions of other people in order to become an Immortal and Ascend.
Bladedance stood to the side, not doing anything, but ready to help him should he need it.
Time began to pass, minutes at first, and then hours. The sky darkened, the only color in the desert the swirling rays of silver and purple that spilled out like ink onto the red canvas that was the desert sand.
Alex remained still, his hands still on the sides of the opening, keeping the Void from closing in on itself.
If Bladedance was certain about one thing, then it was that she would have long since failed to keep the gate open and would’ve let it collapse. That had nothing to do with her being weak and everything to do with how little she understood about Space and Time, and how that was a lot of burden for her.
She would have had to use a lot to get very little in return and would’ve long since run out of her mental energy.
But Alex kept going. Hours after hours. Even when the sun came up, he was still at it.
With each passing hour, Bladedance grew more and more relieved that her absurd idea that she should’ve kept to herself was actually going to come true. This young man, whoever he really was, would most certainly be able to guide them through the Void, out of Hell.
’No one has ever done that before in recorded history,’ she thought. ’Is he going to become the first?’
A full day had passed at which point Alex finally stopped. He let go of the two sides of the opening, letting the space collapse back to normalcy.
Alex fell back onto the sand, panting slowly.
Bladedance walked over. “Impressive. I never imagined you could keep it open for a whole day all by yourself,” she said. “At this point, you don’t even need my help, do you?”
Alex didn’t immediately answer, taking his time getting back up. He looked toward the empty space where the Void used to be and then turned toward Bladedance.
“I could’ve continued, but then I would’ve kept you here without anything to do for another half a day,” he said.
Bladedance raised her eyebrows. “Are you saying you could go on for even longer?” she asked.
Alex grinned a little. “Let me rest for an hour or so, then we can start again.”
