CHAPTER 122: SIBLINGS TIME III
Two shadows hid by the window of a room on the second floor as they watched the figures walking through the academy's perimeter.
"Big brother, I want to kill those little bastards. I need to kill them! I can't rest easy until I see their corpse before me."
"I want to dig out their bones and drink their blood. I want to pluck out their eyes..." Ben descended into a mad tirade. His eyes appeared despondent, and his face sickly pale. Red veins spread across his eyes, and from his haggard and gaunt appearance, one could tell he had seen better days.
Daniel, who had remained quiet, with his eyes narrowed at the two kids outside, abruptly turned around, a backhand slap landing resoundingly across the side of Ben's face.
The strength behind the blow was so controlled that Ben didn't even take a step, yet it was strong enough to stun the young teacher and wake him from his listless reverie.
Ben looked up, his eyes filled with shock as he gazed at his brother. But before he could act, Daniel moved close to him and grabbed the back of his head with his only good hand, the former's hair spilling through his grip.
"Can't you see? You have lost your edge." Daniel's voice was low, with a hint of heaviness to it.
"Wake up, brother! This is no longer the old world. If you don't realize this quickly, this new world will gobble you up, chew you into pieces, and spit out your remains."
The shock in Ben's eyes slowly gave way to tears.
"But big brother... Logan and all those who followed us have been killed. As for me, just look at my state...I have no arms..."
The more Ben spoke, the more his vision grew blurry, and he could only make out the hazy shape of his brother's form.
"Can't you see how pathetic I look? Don't you see the way the other survivors stare at us? Their gazes bore into my heart, smoldering the hatred festering within."
Shutting his eyes once, all the tears spilled out, and his vision cleared once more. He stared his brother down, the mania in his eyes unrestrained.
"And you want me to bottle them up? You want..."
"You will press them down, Ben." Daniel released his grip on Ben's hair and instead shoved his head forward while bringing his own closer.
The two brothers' heads met with a solid thud, and both pairs of eyes gazed into each other, one filled with uncontrollable emotions, and the other filled with restrained fury masked by cold determination.
Daniel's voice turned soft, his eyes flashing with a gentle light as he gazed at his brother's broken figure.
"We are not the ones with the biggest fists, Ben. But that doesn't mean it will always be the case. For now, we lay low. For now, we have to bow our heads."
"No!" Ben tried to pull away from his brother, but the hand holding him remained firm, and he couldn't even budge. That only caused something inside him to shatter further, the darkness festering within his heart spilling over, and the hatred in his guts, overflowing.
Daniel's gaze hardened, his grip growing firmer.
"But make no mistake, brother. The pain and humiliation we have suffered will be repaid a hundredfold. That I swear upon my name."
"The survivors who look at us with judging eyes? They have yet to become aware of their own situation. Will there always be someone to protect them? When they finally plunge into the darkness of this new world, will they still look at us with such eyes?"
"As for those righteous, pretentious pricks, they have yet to witness true despair and have their convictions broken."
"And when they finally discover just how cruel this world truly is..."
"We'll be there to support their broken figures."
Daniel watched as his brother seized his protest while crying with his eyes shut.
A part of him couldn't help but wish his brother had also entered the trial, but he quickly shook his head.
'Perhaps it's for the best.'
'As for our current state, this is nothing difficult for me to resolve.'
How could regenerating limbs be a problem for the Sanguine Lord?
Ben didn't see it, but Daniel's eyes turned into two churning pools of blood, a dangerous glow flashing within their depths.

Kael, who was bickering with his sister, with the latter pulling at his hair strands, couldn't help but feel annoyed.
He really wanted to put the girl down and spank her butt senseless. And the sight of Jinx, who had stopped trying to disturb his sister and was instead laughing at his expense, didn't help either.
The little snake was even starting to gaze at the little minx with a bit of fondness in her golden eyes.
'Just you wait! The both of you.'
Thinking this, he rubbed Seris' head, which had been glued to his own, and kept walking forward, the warmth grounding his emotions.
Just when he turned around a corner and was starting to wonder if today's endeavor would prove fruitless once more, his body suddenly came to a halt, his eyes turning into three snakes looping around themselves in circles, each swallowing its own tail.
The world disappeared around him, his sister's voice fading away.
His vision suddenly surged forward, space blurring around him until finally his gaze fell upon a spot at the very edge of his detection range.
There, a bright green flame burned furiously before his eyes.
