Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 813: The Bug Empress’ Fears

Chapter 813: The Bug Empress’ Fears

The Bug Empress decided to see everything for herself…

She had complete faith that her children wouldn’t lie to her, but still, she thought that it was better to see exactly what they’re up against if they want to have any chance of fighting back.

Honestly, she could leave humanity alone. It’s an option.

She could recall her children, regroup, reinforce the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm, and send them out again once the time is right. But this wasn’t her style.

The Bug Empress had clashed with Humanity so many times that she had long known what they’re capable of.

She has paid the price of underestimating them one too many times…

Eons ago, humanity was like the Insect Race—tiny, inconsequential, weak, and completely ignorant about the immensity of heaven and earth. She could’ve wiped them off of existence with a single thought.

But within a million years after they’d been exposed to the vastness of the Primitive Universe, humanity became one of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm’s hegemonic races. Rising far above anybody’s expectations of them.

The race that used to cling to other races’ things tightly for the sake of survival had managed to grow into a towering race that stood above most.

They started off weak, but they observed closely and learned. They copied, they followed, they schemed…they faltered and failed a lot, but they never quit, never stopped. Each failure was treated as a lesson, an experiment, or an opportunity.

Slaves to progress—that’s their whole thing. Once they commit to something, they wouldn’t hesitate to pursue it to the bitter end, even if it costs them their lives.

And that’s what makes them scary.

Because while everybody laughed at their naivety, humans were busy compiling information for their descendants. When one falls, the rest pick up what they left and continue moving forward.

They. Never. Stop.

They kept going and going until one day, they pushed so far ahead that the others who used to laugh at them couldn’t even see their shadow anymore.

Before everybody knew it, humanity was already standing at the peak none of them had reached. And even then, they’re still going. They just don’t stop.

The Bug Empress has tried, on multiple occasions, to eradicate humanity. She would never admit this out loud, but she was scared of them, of what they could do, of their relentless pursuit of knowledge, and of their overwhelming desire to keep going forward.

She’s afraid that humanity will move past her, overtake everything that she built, and never look back.

And the track record shows that everybody who tried to stifle humanity’s progress was wiped off from the face of the Primitive Universe.

Just look at their rivals: the True Dragons, the Mechanoids, and the Great Demons. These races used to be the previous hegemons competing for supremacy over the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm. Humans used to cling to them for survival.

But look at them now. Where are they? What’s their fate? What did their arrogance and hubris bring them?

Extinction, that’s what.

Only a handful of them still lived to this day, and the ones that do don’t even entertain any idea of repopulating or avenging their kind. They either bow their heads and willingly offer themselves as slaves to humans, or they stay clear of them as far as their feet could take them.

Humans don’t have the patience, tolerance, or mercy for those who are standing in their way.

And for her and her children, who have repeatedly tried to stifle humanity’s growth? Oh, they simply can’t exist under the same sky. This grudge has been written with blood and sworn through iron.

Humans will never be at peace so long as the Horde lives, and vice versa.

That’s why the Bug Empress can’t show weakness. She can’t let humanity breathe and relax. Because if she does, they will make her pay for that dearly.

It’s not a promise. It’s a certainty. One that the Bug Empress has done one too many times before.

It only took humans a million years to reach the same pedestal as their competitors. Another to stabilize their foundation, and one more to start preparing to overtake them. They spent a million years warring against their neighbors and successfully took them down. After that, they spent another million years to completely occupy the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm.

From a race that was ignorant of how vast the Primitive Universe was to a Supreme Race that now occupies one of the five known Chaos Realms, humanity only took a little over five million years to do so.

They spent the next five million years stabilizing their hold of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm and enriching their foundation even more.

While they were staging their uprising, the Bug Empress was in seclusion for her breakthrough.

Which means that before going into seclusion, humans were nothing but mere ants to her. But as soon as she got out, she discovered that the ants she ignored from before have now turned into giants that now pose a threat to her plans.

Just imagine what that’s like from her perspective, yeah?

And even with all of this, humans just won’t stop.

So with all of these given, how could anybody expect the Bug Empress to relax? How can she dare to give humanity enough time to breathe and progress?

The answer is she just simply can’t.

**

And so, she left her home and flew close to the Dimensional Gap of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm.

She didn’t dare to go too close. If she did, she had no doubt that Gibson would sense her and start pointing his weird weapons at her.

While she’s not afraid to fight him, especially if he’s by himself, that’s not what she’s here for.

The Bug Empress started observing.

She wanted to see for herself just how troublesome the opposition was so she could plan accordingly.

Suppressing humanity was a priority. The pressure must remain; they can’t afford to give them enough wiggle room to do something.

Just look at this as an example. The Horde had been constantly harassing this frontier and doing so excellently for quite some time, yet it only took one person to switch things around.

In just a matter of years, the Space Marines went from being harassed to reclaiming what should’ve been theirs in the first place.

This was how deadly humans were when given a chance. It’s what makes them terrifying.

’Yeah, all of this has Gibson’s fingerprint, no doubt.’ The Bug Empress sighed in distress. ’Only he can come up with deadly technologies like this.’

Seeing it in person proved to be the right thing to do. The Bug Empress only guessed it before through the reports she got from the hive mind. She could’ve been wrong. Gibson wasn’t the only tech genius of humanity; he’s just the strongest of them all.

But seeing it in person and in action eliminated all the lingering doubts she had. Now, she’s completely convinced that Gibson now sits at the helm of the Space Marines.

And he will most certainly not leave unless he’s sure that everything is covered. He’s just that meticulous.

Psst! Boom!!

“Shit!!”

The Bug Empress snarled as she hurriedly evaded. Through her luck, she managed just in time, barely avoiding a beam of pure annihilation aimed at her.

Her pupils constricted as she hurriedly scanned where that shot came from. And to her horror, she saw a massive railgun emerging out of nowhere, tracking her movement with nigh-perfect accuracy.

She could literally feel its barrel pushed against her body.

“Fuck!!” She snarled again, especially after she saw the railgun gathering more energy for another shot.

’How the hell could they see me!? ’The Bug Empress screamed internally.

The hairs on her body stood on end as she evaded yet another close call.

She madly retreated, her mind reeling from shock. She had hidden herself well enough before coming here. She didn’t even dare to release her killing intent or any kind of emotion.

There should’ve been no way for them to sense her at all, but they did.

It wasn’t until she left the Dimensional Gap that she saw the railgun folding down but not disappearing.

’Fuck you, Gibson!! ’

The Bug Empress had no doubts that it’s him who’s responsible for this. See? This is what happens when humans are given enough time and breathing room! They pull out some real scary shit like this out of their asses!

That thing was nowhere in sight when she arrived. It just manifested out of nowhere and shot at her when she least expected it. Hell, she didn’t even sense it firing until the shot was literally about to obliterate her!

And god, that range is insane! That thing could shoot her anywhere within the Dimensional Gap, and it’s freakishly accurate!

’That motherfucker made that thing to kill me, I’m sure of it! God fucking damn it!! ’

And she’s not wrong.

When Gibson said that he’s upgrading humanity’s security against the Horde, his main aim has always been the Bug Empress.

This railgun was his answer to prevent her from waltzing into their home again.

The question is…how many of those railguns are in there?
