Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife

Chapter 1436 - 1477: Too Many Unknowns

Mabel Quinn couldn’t help but giggle, wondering if Atlas Shaw heard Ivy’s words, would he feel that all his pampering of the little one was worth it.

Beside her, Kyle Kinston couldn’t resist feeling a bit jealous and asked, "Who do you prefer more, Daddy or Atlas?"

The little one blinked, clearly showing a very conflicted expression, and then the two pairs of large and small eyes just stared at each other in silence.

Well, Kyle Kinston thought he had asked a silly question, estimating that if his status in his daughter’s heart could be equal to Atlas Shaw’s, he should be secretly smiling.

So Kyle Kinston simply changed the subject and took his daughter to do her homework for the day.

Mabel Quinn watched the warm interaction between the father and daughter, and her lips curled into a slight smile. He was really a great father, and in the future, he would also give his love to the small life growing inside her.

...

When Mabel Quinn came out of the bathroom, she saw Kyle Kinston leaning on the sofa, flipping through a book on pregnancy knowledge, and the coffee table in front of him was piled with various pregnancy-related books.

"Where’s Ivy? Asleep?" Mabel Quinn asked.

"Yes," Kyle Kinston looked up and replied.

"How many stories did you tell her before she fell asleep?" she asked.

"Two," he said. Today, his daughter fell asleep relatively quickly; otherwise, he would’ve started telling the third story.

"Are you really planning to read all these books?" Mabel Quinn asked. He had instructed Caleb to buy these books this afternoon, and when Caleb delivered them to the Quinn Family, she distinctly heard him instruct Caleb to buy even more.

"Of course," he replied, "I just read a bit earlier. I found it quite enlightening." Many things he didn’t know before, like he didn’t realize pregnant women’s nausea could be so frequent and uncomfortable. He didn’t know how many times pregnant women need to be examined, how much blood needs to be drawn, and how much suffering they endure. With the increasingly large belly, the swelling, constipation, and various discomforts of pregnant women, he knew none of it, nor did he know how painful it is to deliver a child, pain that could linger post-operation for many days...

All of this he wouldn’t have known if he hadn’t read these books, and she had never mentioned the hardship of carrying and delivering a child to him, as if the ten-month pregnancy and giving birth were very simple matters, matters that could be brushed off lightly.

"Even if it’s enlightening, you don’t need to read so many books, maybe just one or two would suffice," Mabel Quinn laughed.

"Not enough, for me, these few books are far from enough," Kyle Kinston said. "Back then, when you were pregnant, I missed out on so much, leaving you to endure the hardship of delivering Ivy all alone. Now, I want to make up for all of that. So I want to read more books, maybe this way, I can better understand your struggles and pains, and offer more help to you and the baby in your belly."

He missed out on so much of his daughter’s life. He wasn’t there to accompany her during the ten months of pregnancy, he wasn’t there at the delivery room door when she was giving birth, nor did he witness his newborn daughter, taking care of her while she was still in bed.
