Dungeon of Niflheim

Chapter 991: Life energy toxicity

Chapter 991: Chapter 991: Life energy toxicity

The sombre mood was quickly extinguished by Baron Glorfile personally, he hated being pitied and thus put a stop to such antics.

"My mistake." General Anya instantly understood such a life was to be celebrated not bemoaned. She didn’t bring up the death of his wife again, instead focused on the clean up duty that was taking place.

"Remember to take accurate stock of the equipment and ensure that those with heavy and severe injuries receive immediate treatment. 3 deaths are more than enough for this little operation." The loss of the 3 fighters all at the mid stage B-rank was a significant toll for their little band of reinforcements. Icethorne needed every able body it could get its hands on, those with high ranks even more so but thanks to Crown Prince Randolph’s subordinates there was not just three missing from their roster but several more with heavy injuries, injuries that could make it all but impossible for them to play a solid part in this war.

""Yes sir."" High ranking officers replied from both sides as they took personal action, carrying and moving the wounded safely back to Niflheim where their healers were stationed.....High quality health potions were used however to stave of the worst.

"The operation was a success overall, but we couldn’t avoid paying a price it seems." Muttered Cavalish, two of the dead B-ranks and more than half the wounded were from his side, proving that either their men and women were weaker overall or at least more careless in battle.

"It could have been far worse, focus on the positives Red or rather Cavalish. Prince Randolph is now bereft of two of his hidden blades." Baron Glorfile was quite upbeat, his body after enduring pangs of depression for the past few months was finally feeling like it used to.

"When you put it like that it’s hard to argue." Depriving Randolph of two hidden blades was quite the achievement he didn’t even care that his true name had been revealed, allowing the Baron, Anya and Ovaria to call him Cavalish from now on if they preferred. Green, Yellow, and Blue however continued to keep a tight lid on their identities, there was no need to reveal a secret that was still hidden after all.

The seven A-ranks and dozens of B-rank soldiers thus worked hard through the night to erase all traces of their battle, burning corpses and collecting any and all form of items and equipment, stuff they could either hand over to Frost as payment for his scout work or sell to him thus dusting off their prints from this crime scene. Doing so would help keep Randolph and his cohorts in the dark regarding the true events of tonight’s activities, he’d be unable to prove anything without evidence.

Back in the Dungeon in a sequestered area on the fifth floor Yuna sat on a large boulder, swinging her legs in an animated manner as a holographic screen displayed what was currently happening two kilometres southwest of the city. Like her colleagues and Master her eyes had been glued to the screen, every single interaction between the B-ranks with strength greater than her own and the A-ranks whose abilities completely dwarfed hers caused her heart to powerfully thump, flooding her body with excitement and instinctual desire.

Her focus was primarily on Ovaria given her similar role as a mage, but she ultimately failed to pry her gaze away from Baron Glorfile as his purple covered fist slammed into Rathborne’s right side and sent him hurtling to the ground.

She was speechless, her entire body visibly shaking as the might washed over her, making her feel small, like a pathetic child. A moment later however desire festered, she dreamed and innately demanded that she one day reach the same level.

She would stand at the forefront of her Master’s magic corps, leading them as a mighty A-rank against intruders or other Dungeons in their competitive wars.

Such a thing was still far in the distance but thanks to the ability to visibly see her current level it didn’t feel beyond her means. As long as she trained, grew her knowledge and frequently engaged in battle she’d eventually reach Baron Glorfile and the others’ levels.

She sported an ear spanning grin that was somewhat malevolent or rather savage in nature, her hands balled up into tight fists and her mana was subconsciously swirling through her mana veins, a battle ready state wherein she could cast magic at an instant.

She wanted to fight, to summon the very depths of her magic in a duel with an equal or higher ranked opponent and the first face that came to mind was that of her Master. Surely he was feeling the exact same way after seeing such a triumphant display.

"Urgh!" When Yuna turned her head however what she saw wasn’t her Master in a state of uncontrollable excitement but one of madness and savagery.

He was red in the face, his veins bulging and throbbing obscenely across his body. His muscles twitching, writhing in agony from being filled with too much energy. The expression on his face was vicious, his teeth snarling, growls and groans escaping his throat as he fell to the floor clutching his heart. The most unnerving feature however was his eyes, they’d turned blood red and invoked an unsettling level of brutality, like a starving beast coming across and flock of harmless, delectable sheep.

Yuna physically shivered as her eyes met with his, he looked at her as if he wanted to both eat her flesh and ravage her all at once. Fear and excitement bore down on her in tandem as she imagined her beloved Master brutally mounting her, forcibly taking what rightfully belonged to him but such dirty thoughts were quickly expunged, his current state was clearly dangerous and not just for her.

"LADY MAYA!!!!" Yuna ignored the supposed conflict between her master and mistress as she screamed to the high heavens via the Dungeon menu’s telepathic connection, distress and panic in her voice.

"Yuna what’s wro....Shit!" Maya was still a little grumpy with Frost but upon hearing the panic in Yuna’s voice she immediately teleported from the private space into the room. She soon spotted Frost squirming on the floor; his face covered in throbbing veins as he strongly held back his urges.

Maya practically teleported next to his buckled form, placing her hands against his back to help him channel the excess and too high quality life energy rampaging through his system. Unfortunately after her curb in strength her efforts to allay him of his suffering were far weaker than what she previously capable of. Even after giving it her all she only managed to mitigate the minor symptoms, returning a modicum of clarity to his mind, doing little for his rabid emotions that continued to build and build.

"What happened?" Maya was almost panicking at this point as she could feel Frost’s state of mind slowly slipping away from her, soon he’d become akin to a ravenous beast seeking to satisfy his desires.

Yuna quickly and concisely explained the situation at hand, how a conflict was occurring two kilometres from the city and involved dozens of B-ranks and even several A-ranks.

"Life energy toxicity, the quality and quantity has overwhelmed him, stoking his instincts to the point that they’re threatening to take over." This wasn’t the first time Frost had suffered from an emotional imbalance, but it was certainly the worst.

He’d already been struggling recently as his daily DP income had more than tripled and mainly because of creatures with sufficiently high levels of strength. A B-rank level Dungeon core was feasting on dozens of equivalent sources and even several that were much, much stronger. The potency of the life energy proved to be too much.

As the 150 soldiers were violently culled and wounds were continually mounting Frost’s heart had already become erratic, a desire for blood and meat rapidly growing to the point that his eyes turned red. He only managed to keep a lid on it because of his keen focus on Baron Glorfile, Rathborne and Cavalish but when that was all over and the adrenaline started to leave his system he absorbed the lifeforce of both Rathborne and Sierra in close succession thus leading to the pot boiling over.

He wanted nothing more than to follow through on his desires, to fight, to kill, to devour and to fuck.

Maya’s cool hands on his back managed to retain some of his consciousness but the desires continued to fester, soon he’d be unable to stop himself from attacking whoever was in his line of sight....only Maya would be strong enough to control him in such a state, she could also serve as an appropriate outlet for much of his hunger.

As she explained the current situation to Yuna who’s head was about to fall off from panic she felt Frost’s body rise in temperature, his breathing became laboured and a certain part of him swelled to a very intimidating size.

"Crap!" She then felt his mind fade; her lover was swiftly transforming into a beast without willpower.

"Yuna fill in for Frost and make sure no one, and I mean no one enters the training space under any circumstances until I say it’s safe." She needed to teleport the two of them while she still had some semblance of control.

"Y...yes Lady Maya." Yuna replied with a slight stutter, tears welling in her eyes as she looked at the half folded form of her Master, he looked to be in extreme pain.

Maya didn’t say anything further simply nodding her head before teleporting Frost and herself to the empty training space. Here he could go all out in his violence and not cause any lasting damage.

The moment they arrived Maya pulled back her hands and took several large steps away from him.

Frost’s entire body aggressively shivered before a darkness befell his mind. All his muscles became tense causing him to grow 20% larger than normal. He then kicked the ground and rose to his feet, a somewhat bestial expression marring or perhaps enhancing his charming appearance with a bit of wild allure appeared on his face. He looked around his surroundings before locking his gaze on the ravishing beauty that was Maya.

"ROAAAAARRRRR!!!!" Frost roared like a beast and charged straight for her very aggressively.

"Haaaaaaa this is going to be difficult."
