Chapter 1009: Chapter 1009: Daki’s methods (3)

She didn’t apologise or even looked the slightest bit remorseful, however. Many felt as though the end times had come, that death would be a mercy.

They instinctively looked at their matriarch, hoping to garner some solace from her leadership but what they saw sent shivers down their exposed spines.

Half of Neve’s face looked as fearful as they were, but the other half was smiling, looking very similar to Daki, like a demon.

That expression on her face made something tremble inside them, as though trying to mirror her expression.

The only thing that seemed to bring them peace was chanting the prayers and mantras of their tribe.

Daki witnessed all this, but she didn’t stop their actions, the beasts had been awoken so it was only a matter of time until they were fully unleashed.

’Hahahaha you’re all so shell shocked that you’ve forgotten you’re all naked.’ Each of them knelt on the ground and held their sister’s hands in prayer completely oblivious to the air brushing across their fair skin. It was a good thing they all had strong resistance to the cold otherwise there’d be a lot of fevers by this time tomorrow.

Leaving them to their own devices Daki put on her clothes and left the Maidens quarters. "They can leave now." She said to a group of ronsos who were acting as guards during the whole ordeal before heading to the Sleeping Fenrir where Nanna, Loki and the other kids should be enjoying a meal on her.

"Lady Daki" The children all greeted her warmly, they all knew who Daki and Maya were to Frost and thus they treated her with great respect. It also helped that she occasionally made them toys in her forge, little knick knacks like metal figurines or dull practise weapons.

"Have you guys eaten yet?" She had gotten quite famished after playing around with Neve and her sisters.

"Not yet we just ordered." A child from the Lunar maidens replied, her face beet red from playing in the park with the rest of the children. They didn’t have the problems the adults had, the indoctrination hadn’t taken hold of them. As long as Frost put a stop to their tribe’s traditions they should be free of the anguish, likely blooming naturally when they reach adulthood.

"I’ll join you then, waitress please add a barbarian’s special to the table order."

"Yes Lady Daki no problem." Although the place was quite busy the staff always made sure to take extra care of children and special guests like Daki, Nanna and Loki.

"You four can head back home after dinner if you’d like I’ve finished what I needed to do with your elders." Daki gently smiled towards the four lunar maiden youths.

"Do we have to? There’s still some light out and the park doesn’t close for another 3 hours." The youngest asked in a very childlike manner. The eldest moved quickly to admonish her, but Daki replied before she got the chance.

"No you don’t have to. As long as Nanna or Loki is willing to chaperone then you can play in the park until closing, I’ll let one of the ronsos know so they can inform your elders if that’s what you want."

The four lunar maiden youths silently looked at one another as well as their group of friends who were pleading for them to stay out.

"Thank you Lady Daki we’d like to stay and play for a little while longer." This time the oldest answered on everyone’s behalf, feeling bottomless joy in the depths of her heart.

"No problem I’ll see it done after our meal."

An hour later Daki strode into the private space with a spring in her step.

"You look happy. Did your intervention go well then?" Frost asked from the sofa, a glass of red wine sitting in front of him.

"Yes very much so and I’ll tell you all about my glorious discoveries later but first aren’t kids just the absolute cutest?"
