Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons

Chapter 510: Sit Down.

Chapter 510: Sit Down.

“That is exactly why I said books alone does not make you wise.”

He repeated his words, then he glanced at the Stonefangs standing at the distance and—

“You won’t be able to ’fight back’ if you’re not prepared,”

He said, chuckling under his breath as he turned back to her.

“You should be more careful, Lady Lavinia.”

He spoke, his voice now seeming deliberately cruel, and his gaze… it seemed like he was looking down on her.

“And don’t think your Kael would be able to save you either.

He isn’t here.

By the time he even knows what’s happening, it’ll already be too late.”

He let out another small laugh, but this time, Lavinia laughed too—almost… dismissively.

“You’re a fool if you believe that,”

She commented.

Kayden frowned at those words and Lavinia then raised her eyes, her violet eyes looking right into his grey ones.

“If they moved,”

She began softly, her voice echoing through the vale.

“Kael would be here within seconds.

And none of them would see tomorrow’s sun.”

The mage spoke in a confident tone as she glanced at the Stonefangs, her grin widening even further as she thought about more than twenty ants—ants Kael himself brought here—that were present in the area, watching every single thing carefully, ready to inform Kael the moment something out of expectation happened.

Not to mention there was also Cirri, who was still in the area in her Sky Form, invisible to all, but ready to act the moment she was needed.

This was the reason Lavinia was so calm in the first place, because she knew that even though Kael was a few hundred meters away from them, with his speed, he would only need a few seconds to get here and control the situation.

And as she thought of all this, Lavinia once again turned to Kayden with a mocking grin on her face and—

“So stop worrying.

Since I am here, you won’t need to move. My husband will deal with everything.

All you need to do is to not make a mess and sit down.”

The woman spoke, and Kayden… he froze.

For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. The tension between them hung like a blade in the air.

Kayden wanted to retort, to push back, but her eyes—those calm, confident eyes—made him hesitate.

He could feel it.

She wasn’t bluffing.

And deep down, he knew she was right.

This was the woman that man deeply loved; he had seen it more than once. He had seen him react whenever her name was mentioned, he had seen him being protective when he first approached her.

Someone like him… wouldn’t leave her here unprotected.

If Lavinia—the woman who knew that man the most—spoke with that kind of certainty, then it wasn’t arrogance—it was… assurance.

Kael would be here, just like he always does.

Finally, Kayden clicked his tongue in frustration and looked away. He turned to glance at his mother.

Morvain was standing a few steps behind, her arms crossed, her expression unreadable. When she met his gaze, she didn’t say a word—just shook her head lightly.

The message was clear.

Stand down.

Kayden exhaled slowly through his nose and stepped back, his hand leaving the sword’s hilt. He turned away from the Stonefangs and—

“Tch… Fine.”

He muttered under his breath.

Lavinia didn’t respond. She simply turned her gaze away, scanning the mist that stretched across the valley.

The air remained tense, but at least for now, there was silence again.

On the other side of the vale, the Stonefangs had noticed the small argument. Their sharp eyes didn’t miss anything; after all, just like Kayden, they too were uneasy.

Gruumak’s warriors shifted restlessly, their low voices rumbling in their native tongue.

“Velmourns watch too close,”

One of them muttered.

“They not trust.”

“They never trust,”

Another replied.

“They think we beasts.”

“We fought them for years. They not wrong.”

A third warrior, older than the others, spat into the snow.

But the first warrior quickly shut him off—

“They come to our land. Take our land. Our food. And we beasts? They beasts! They outsiders! They can’t be trusted!”

That earned a few grunts of agreement.

But soon, another spoke up, pointing towards Lavinia.

“She different,”

He said.

“Magic Girl. She with Flying Man. Flying Man good. He let us go.”

Several Stonefangs turned to look at her. Her long violet hair moved slightly in the wind, her purple eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. Even when she felt their gaze, she did not stiffen up; instead, she nodded at them calmly, and that reaction alone was enough for the Stonefangs to… soften their gaze.

“She beautiful.”

One of them muttered; others nodded in agreement, but the older Stonefang stopped them—

“She with Flying Man. Flying Man love her. Not look.”

“She fight beside Flying Man too.”

Another warrior added.

“She strong. Just like Flying Man.”

“Flying Man love her, trust her.

Then maybe she trustable,”

Another added.

“Maybe,”

Another growled.

“But she stand with Velmourns now.

Means she like them.

Means she enemy.”

The argument continued quietly among them, half in whispers, half in grunts, tension twisting through their lines just as it did through the Velmourns’.

Neither side trusted the other, both were prepared for an attack, but neither side made the first move.

The wind howled through the cliffs again, carrying the echo of dripping water and the distant groan of the Thunderspine Rauk far in the back of the vale.

The two sides stood apart—watching, waiting, frozen in their mutual… distrust.

Thum

Until a faint, distant sound broke through the air—

A low rumble.

A vibration in the ground.

In an instant, every head turned towards the direction it came from and—

Then came the silhouettes—two tall figures walking side by side through the fog, followed by two smaller ones.

The first was broad and heavy—Gruumak, the Ironjaw.

The second walking beside him, his cloak fluttering faintly in the wind—Kael.

Freyal and Zakaar followed behind them, their eyes alert, and as the four of them returned, the murmurs on both sides stopped instantly.

The Velmourns straightened, the Stonefangs froze.

The quiet returned, heavy as stone—

Until Gruumak and Kael finally stepped into the open space between both sides, prepared to deliver words that… would change the very history of Heights.
