Chapter 2045 Spell Practice Part 2

Chapter 2045: Chapter 2045 Spell Practice Part 2

Kat —

“Let’s go back to your spell for a bit,” said Kat, “is it a Rank 2 spell or a Rank 3 one?”

“I was planning for it just to be Rank 2 because I didn’t have confidence in managing a Rank 3 spell without it exploding in my face… but it is a bit complicated for a Rank 2 spell and might be why I’m having so many issues creating it…” grumbled Lily.

“Well… I’m pretty sure a Rank 2 spell isn’t really going to hurt me. So I could act as a target for your practice!” offered Kat.

“I really don’t think I want to do that…” Lily frowned.

“Right but, counterpoint… would it even hurt me? This isn’t a piercing spell and the band does nothing to reduce the durability of my skin or the power of my regeneration. I’m sure at Rank 3 you’d be capable of at least hurting me… but at Rank 2? I’m not sure and it would be good information to have,” countered Kat.

“I really don’t like this…” Lily retorted.

“Okay, how about a compromise-” Kat began to offer.

“I’m pretty sure whatever this is, isn’t going to be a compromise…” sighed Lily.

Kat rolled her eyes, “Let’s first go for a Rank 1 spell and see if that does anything. If it hurts, then we can stop there. If not? We try a normal Rank 2 spell, then you can keep testing,”

“I still don’t like this… and I’m not sure this really counts as a compromise because casting dangerous spells at you really isn’t something I want to be doing…” Lily sighed.

“But are Rank 1 spells even dangerous?” Kat added.

“I wish I could say yes… but I suspect you’re right in that they won’t do anything,” grumbled Lily.

Kat gave Lily a smug look as she carefully stood up using her tail as leverage against the ground. Gently placing her girlfriend on her feet, Kat then moved a few paces away to make sure no shrapnel or deflected magic would be likely to hit Lily. Lily didn’t seem happy… but she sent off a basic paper storm at Kat.

Kat puffed her chest out smugly as the paper flew right at her stomach. Kat, feeling extra confident bent her knees just a bit so that instead the paper shards all flew into her chest. This proved to be an… interesting idea. On the one hand, Kat was correct. It didn’t do any damage. The paper that hit her boobs simply bounced off and that was pretty funny. On the other hand, it was her boobs that were tough not the outfit. Kat found her chest completely exposed to the world after the barrage, even as her clothing tried to knit itself back together.

Lily was not prepared for her spell to… reveal such a tantalising sight. The jiggling on top of that was a bit much, as Lily collapsed backwards bleeding from her nose. Kat sighed, as she found Lily’s thoughts filled with lewd images mostly centred around her boobs. *Does this count as ’not hurting anyone’? Because sure I’m fine but Lily’s collapsed and bleeding.*

Kat couldn’t help but giggle at her latest train of thought. It was very silly but quite true. *Perhaps I should’ve tried to reinforce my outfit or something? I’m not even sure why it shredded like it did. I’ve taken much worse blows without it taking nearly as much damage as this and I’m Rank 4 now… unless I usually unconsciously strengthen it? Or perhaps I WANTED it to break? That… ok I admit that was half my plan with this.*

“Alright, let’s test a Rank 2 spell!” cheered Kat. Snapping her girlfriend back to the present and causing Lily to pout in her direction. “What? Did I say something wrong?”

“You know what you did” hissed Lily. “I have no idea how you managed it… but it’s definitely your fault.” Kat shrugged. “Fine, whatever. This time I’m aiming for your wings because I’d really rather not strip you when Hedera’s in the house.”

“Ah but stripping me when she’s away is fine?” asked Kat.

Lily sent a blast of paper at her. Sticking to the upgraded version of the spell to figure out the difference. The answer was, once again, weird. Kat didn’t want to push her luck so she simply allowed her wings to extend fully and take the damage. It was… super inconsistent. A few bits of paper managed to cut her lightly and heal up before the storm of paper had even finished but most of them simply bounced off… and Kat really wasn’t sure why. “Ok that’s odd…”

“What’s odd?” asked Lily. “I know I didn’t really feel much pain just a few pinpricks… so what was weird?”

“Well I DID actually get cut, only some of them managed to do it though. Surely they all should have the same amount of power behind them?” asked Kat.

Lily frowned at the question. “I… I think they should? Are you sure there was no reason for it to have failed? Like, hitting the bones in your wings or something?”

“The ones that hit the bones obviously didn’t do any damage… but I don’t think any of the ones that did cut me were different…” mumbled Kat.

“What about veins?” asked Lily.

Kat opened her mouth to deny it before closing it once again and thinking the question over. “Ok… it might be? I don’t know their locations THAT well so I can’t be sure but I suppose that makes the most sense… but let’s not get distracted. With this all settled, are you willing to test your new spell on me as you refine it?”

“Urgh, fine…” agreed Lily with a grimace. “Just… start moving around a bit. This is supposed to be a homing attack. Let’s see how good it is,”

Kat grinned at Lily. Picking out the misdirection for what it was and knowing how this was likely to go. If the tracking was less then perfect Lily would perfect it first… mostly because it mean Kat would be dodging potential pain at least some of the time. *Though I suppose it’s also the most important part of the spell to get right.*

“Yes, it is,” agreed Lily who listened in on Kat’s entire train of thought. “Now, dodge,”

Kat being cheeky, bent over and let her shirt hang open a bit as the spell went off. Kat was ready for the paper plane to fly back and try to hit her again… but it just didn’t. It kept sailing off towards the back wall where it eventually splattered once again. “Oh…” mumbled Kat.

“Dammit!” groaned Lily. “I thought I had the tracking down! It always curved when I tried to hit a stationary target. It didn’t matter if I launched it straight… but it couldn’t even correct for that! You barely moved!”

Kat shrugged, “Eh, I was going to see if I could like, dance around it because it doesn’t seem all that fast… but yeah a bit disappointing.”

“Well… nobody said spell creation was easy…” sighed Lily. “Let’s try this one,” Another spell went off and Kat got ready to dodge the plane. This time, she moved to the side more normally, side stepping the plane when it was about halfway to her. The paper plane did turn to try and get her… but it simply lined up with where she was, and didn’t account for its previous momentum properly.

Kat found she now had a plane circling around her. It wasn’t managing to hit her, as she didn’t move and it didn’t recalibrate its attack angle… but it wasn’t stopping either. “How long is this meant to go on for?” asked Kat.

“It’s MEANT to keep adjusting to where you are… but I didn’t use all that much mana on it. Um… maybe a minute? No that’s too long. Thirty seconds maybe?” pondered Lily. Kat was about to comment on it being about that long already when the plane dissipated into nothing, stealing her point.

“Yeah that seemed about right,” sighed Lily. “Let me just… hmm… adjust that, and move that there… oh but that will just… ok hang on I might need a few minutes…” Kat waited patiently as Lily tinkered with the spell in her head. Trying out different combinations and guessing what they were going to do. Eventually she must have settled on something because a Sigil came alight and a plane flew in Kat’s direction.

Deciding to keep the test simple, she stepped to the side and watched as the plane corrected for her movement and its own, still heading towards her. Kat sidestepped again and the plane corrected once again. Deciding that was enough playing around, Kat waited until it got close to her and dashed to the side at the last second. It turned around swiftly, wobbling a bit as it did so but managed to stay on track.

So Kat leapt over it. The plane immediately freaked out and shredded itself. Kat flapped her wings a few times and looked down at the spot the plane had been. “Ok what the f-fudge?”

“I honestly have no idea what happened with that one…” sighed Lily
