Chapter 2043 Green Deals
Chapter 2043: Chapter 2043 Green Deals
— Green —
A few more arrows were shot in her direction but now that she was on the ground they were less accurate. Bunches attacked the spot she was meant to be, as well as the nearby area. Perhaps in a hope that she’d run out of mana or something? Green wasn’t entirely sure but the shield was still strong. Especially because she was able to swap out the brooch between barrages. It had been about five minutes since the last volley and she was expecting someone to show up soon.
That turned out to be sort of the case. Green picked up on the sound of someone in one of the nearby trees after just another minute. The temptation to look over at the tree in question was strong. She knew where her watcher was… but she also didn’t want to scare them off. *Just give them a bit longer. Perhaps I’ll look over if I hear their bow winding up?*
Green snapped her head to the side when she heard the bow string being pulled back. Startling whoever was watching her. An arrow was launched directly at her face once again but Green just rolled her eyes, making no move at all to dodge. A few more arrows were fired from the tree before a figure jumped down. One Green recognised as Ash. “Well I sort of feel useless,” grumbled Ash.
Green shrugged… and as she did so Ash quickly raised and fired one more arrow. It wasn’t travelling all that fast compared to the others. In fact, it was slow enough that Green was pretty sure she could dodge it if she wanted. The main issue was that the shield was a bubble and the arrow would likely still be caught. So to keep that a secret, Green just continued to stare at Ash, deadpan.
“Alright fine,” grumbled Ash as she put her bow away. “What sort of deal are we talking about?”
“Well, without getting into specifics. I’m stuck in a place with limited food. Previously, I was stuck in a place with limited food and great rewards. Sort of. I’ve now got a bunch of useful arms and armour I’d be willing to trade away in exchange for food. Then we can fight or whatever afterwards. Maybe come to an agreement about someone forfeiting or something if things work out,” explained Green.
Ash nodded slowly… just as a spear made of ash exploded on the back of Green’s shield. Green just raised an eyebrow, trying not to show how that spell had made her heart leap into her chest. She hadn’t heard it at ALL nor had she noticed it forming. The only reason she didn’t panic on impact was that she’d been trying to keep her face blank. Ash might have caught something… but the shield didn’t even ripple so it was probably fine.
*Not that I’m going to take that again.* “No more attacks. I could block them for quite some time,” *Even if I can’t attack like this.* “but I’m not going to. Either we have a deal, or we have a fight on our hands. What’s it going to be?”
Ash raised her hands up into the air, and also had her familiar Zipper show up, clearly in view. “Alright no more attacks.” *I’d be more inclined to feel safe if Zipper couldn’t cone himself? Herself? Themselves I guess. If I didn’t know about that. For all I know there are three Zipper’s in the trees or something. At the same time… yeah I do need the food.*
“Alright, I’m glad we’ve come to a preliminary agreement. So, what sort of things are you looking for?” asked Green.
“Well… why don’t you tell me what you have?” asked Ash.
“Because firstly, I’m not going to give away what my arsenal includes now. Secondly, I’ve got way too much shit because, thirdly, I have extra storage space. It’s actually something I have a few copies of and I might be willing to give away one of them. That’d be for a pretty high price though,” explained Green.
“What’s stopping me from taking them during the fight? Or as my spoils?” asked Ash.
“I’m confident you won’t be able to take them from me, nor defeat me. Yet, even if you could… the extra spatial storages aren’t in my ’main’ bracelet. I believe, if my memory is correct, you can only take things either directly from my person during a fight or from the bracelet storage. So you couldn’t just ask Thyme to give you a whole extra storage ring,” countered Green.
Ash nodded slowly, “Ok that makes some sense. Hmmm… I don’t actually have that much food on me. I’ve got some sure, and I can probably hunt a bit or go hungry… but what about other things? You said you were trapped? How much would you be willing to offer for someone to come help you out?”
“You’re not working with anyone else currently?” asked Green, carefully watching Ash’s face.
“Nope. I did find a group of two, but I decided interacting with them was too dangerous and gave up on that in the end. So, about that rescue?” asked Ash.
Green sighed, “I’m really not sure. I’d have to reveal a decently big secret about the island for you to even consider coming to find me. I have no way to ensure you’ll actually come help, or can arrive before I get out myself… and I’m also not sure you CAN help.”
“Surely I can do something?” queried Ash.
Green considered the question for a few moments. *Is there much harm in letting her know where I am? Not the specifics, just the fact that it’s a broken expanded space. Once she understands the issue, she should realise helping me is a risky, and likely pointless endeavour. I don’t know how to find the entrance so I certainly have no idea how I’d find anyone else in ’here’ even if we were both looking for each other.*
“Alright, so, basically, I’m stuck in a semi-broken expanded space. Someone turned a large structure into an even larger one internally, and then it all shattered. No all of the rooms are floating around in an endless void. I went inside to take a look but didn’t realise they were all moving rapidly and I was sent flying away from the entrance. I thought it would be best to change rooms to try and find the exit slash entrance but now? I might’ve been better off staying put. Or maybe not. I’ve been inside for days at this point and I needed to move to find what little orbs and food I could,” explained Green.
“Wow… that… ok you’re right I’m not certain I can help with that. Um… in that case do you have any bows or good armour?” asked Ash.
Green made a so-so gesture. “I have some bows but the ones I’d be willing to give away are mostly gimmicks and the armour isn’t much to out taste. I mean, look t me,” Green gestured to her heavily armoured form. “This shit limits my movement so much but it’s unbelievably tough and still light. There are some leathers but none of them are particularly good,”
“Then what are you even offering?” growled Ash.
“Well, I DO have plenty of fancy quivers. I’ve got ones that increase the amount you can store inside of them. Ones that enchant the arrows. I’ve got one that seems to just supply an infinite amount of arrows though they’re not the highest quality. I also have a few grenades and things of that nature. One off consumables that I have buckets full of. Um… got a few healing potions and poultices. I’ve got a bunch of weapons that aren’t bows. I think I have a good spare dagger but I don’t have many of those either…” outlined Green.
“Wait… are you saying you have more equipment for literally anyone else?” asked Ash.
“Not quite ’anyone else’ because Hedera is an archer much like us… but yeah more or less? I seemed to mostly get high quality stuff that wasn’t quite right for me. Take this for example,” Green pulled out a small short sword. Or perhaps a long dagger. It was an odd midground in size. “This thing is enchanted to cut through almost anything but it’s probably more dangerous to me if I’m using it because I’m not used to the size. I also have a couple sets of amazingly strong heavy armour… but they’re heavy armour,” explained Green.
“Alright. I understand why you were more interested in what I want. That’s… a rather awkward inventory…” sighed Ash.
“Yeah I was half hoping for someone that would be more interested in a lot of my excess stock. Then again, if it was someone that could be real scary with those items maybe I’d want more food then they have on them,” shrugged Green.
“I see… a complicated situation. And you’re obviously not in a rush to make the deal,” mumbled Ash. Green shook her head. “Right, ok then. Give me a bit to think about this more seriously. I obviously didn’t come into this fight thinking anything like this was going to happen.”
