Death... and me

Chapter 3771: Old Friend

Chapter 3771: Old Friend

Back at the tunnel, Rean simply used his Light Bending Skill to conceal their presence inside while Xian did the same with his shadow energy. But before he captured another mindless Umbra, Rean had to ask something else. "Xian, everything in this place is made of this black structure. You said the structures were made of Umbras, just like you. How did it even happen?"

Xian was still weak. "Just... give me a few hours. I need to recover a little of shadow energy."

"Oh! Sorry! Yes, go ahead. We will wait." Rean felt like an idiot for stopping the guy.

Just like before, Xian used his hand to attract another shadow, capturing it and starting to absorb its energy, trying to resist the pain. The process was slow as always, but ultimately, eleven hours later, he finished.

"Again!" Rean didn’t let Xian stop, though. "You need many of these to really be out of danger, don’t you? Just keep doing it. We will wait until we recover to the same level you did when you helped Roan."

"But it will take a very long-"

Roan cut in. "We are not in a hurry. Just do it already."

Xian nodded. In fact, he was slightly happy since he was always afraid of suffering an attack during these moments, which made the absorption process even more dangerous to his soul.

And so Xian took his time. One, two, five, ten... days passed, and then weeks. It wasn’t before three weeks later that Xian’s body had the same concentration of Shadow Energy he did back when he helped Roan. Maybe it was because of the safety the twins offered, but he found it even easier to go through this process, diminishing the dangers of having his soul affected during the process. "Seniors... this is enough."

Rean and Roan looked at him, nodding. "It does feel like you are back to normal indeed."

Rean took the chance to ask again. "So, Xian, how do the Umbras become these structures? You said they were the same as you, after all."

"Oh, that?" Xian was a lot more vigorous with his energies restored. "Come with me, I’ll show you!" He quickly covered the twins with a thicker amount of his shadow energy, flying out of the tunnel in the next second.

However, it was then that Rean flew to the front and stopped him. "But first, we’d better take care of a certain someone." A cold smile appeared on his face as he flew ahead.

A few tens of kilometers away, inside another tunnel, there was a young Umbra working hard to absorb a mindless shadow of low-level. At that moment, a Level Two Umbra entered that tunnel, seemingly disappointed with what he saw. "Tch... look at how much energy you have. It won’t be enough to satisfy me at all. Oh well, better than nothing, I guess. At least Calanti isn’t here to bother me."

The young Umbra was taken aback, but he couldn’t stop the absorption midway. As for the newcomer, it was Tissal, who once again came to Calanti’s area to rob him of his shadow energy sources, which were the kids.

Truth be told, Tissal didn’t do it only to Calanti, but a few other Level Two Umbras who also had their tiny territories close to the outside. He was quite infamous for that.

Tissal grabbed the back of the young Umbra’s neck, and the little energy that Umbra had gathered quickly began to flow into his body... for a second!

"Stop!" Suddenly, Xian appeared at the entrance of that tunnel, his face full of anger.

Tissal looked at him, and his eyes lit up. "Aren’t you the kid I absorbed last time I was here in Calanti’s area? Look at you! So much emotional energy!" Tissal immediately threw the other little Umbra away, coming straight for Xian!

That was just perfect, though. It was Rean who told Xian to stay outside and use his own presence to lure Tissal over. Tissal was very confident he could fight Calanti without problems. Even if Calanti came with someone else, he was confident he could at least flee, like he had done many times. So, he didn’t hold back when he tried to capture Xian.

Xian, obviously, turned around and fled as well, much to Tissal’s amusement. As if a weak Umbra like Xian could escape from him. In less than ten seconds, Tissal caught up to the desperately fleeing Xian, ready to grab him. He was even more excited because he couldn’t feel the presence of any other Umbra in the surroundings.

But then, as his cloudy hand was about to catch Xian, things changed.

’Red Death, Death Moon!’

*Swish!*

Two Elemental Intent Scythes appeared, arcs of Bright Red Lightning dancing around as a wave of energy came out. It was Roan who cut Tissal’s hand like it was nothing, destroying it with the pure Yang Energy from the Light and Red Lightning he got from his connection with Rean.

"Who are you?!" Tissal obviously stepped back, noticing he was lured into a trap. Above all, he was shocked to see that he hadn’t noticed Roan’s presence until his hand was destroyed. He could grow it again, but that would require shadow energy.

"You don’t need to know." Yet, the one to answer was not Roan, but Rean, who also appeared out of nowhere.

’Red Death, Death Claws!’

*Swish, swish, swish, swish...*

Ten Elemental Intent Swords, all of them carrying a powerful Bright Red Lightning, Sky Energy, and everything else, finished Tissal off. Tissal had tried to defend, and even his laws gathered at that point. It’s just that the Bright Red Lightning was truly a nemesis to his Yin-based abilities. Besides, only an Umbra with a power equivalent to a Peak Divinity Realm would truly be able to put up resistance, which wasn’t his case. His power was only equivalent to a Middle Stage instead.

"Hmph!" Rean put away his swords, feeling nothing of that kill. "To think you would dare to come back so early. I’ve always kept my eyes on you, piece of shit."

How did Rean know Tissal was back? Very simply, he used the same method as Diliy did to him back then, Sword Intent! That day when Tissal and Calanti fought, he made sure to leave some inside Tissal’s body, which Tissal couldn’t even feel. Once Tissal returned, Rean instantly felt his presence. Thus, here he was, finishing this other Umbra once and for all.
