Update on the author’s health.

I have some bad news.

This weekend I started feeling unwell, so I went to the emergency room, and there—as I had suspected—I was having an episode of peripheral vertigo.

This isn’t the first time it’s happened to me, though it’s been several years since the last episode. The problem is that I can’t take the medication prescribed for this—sulpiride—because I’m intolerant to it, and when I do take it, not only does it worsen the symptoms, but it also prolongs the illness.

What does that mean? Unfortunately, it means I can only take, at most, a muscle relaxant at night to help me sleep and let the illness run its course, which usually takes between five and ten days, depending on the severity of the attack.

But for the novel, it means I can’t write. What’s more, as soon as I finish posting these words, I’m going to have to lie down and wait for the headache—which is already setting in from writing them—to pass.

If nothing goes wrong, by this Thursday or Friday the Vertigo should start to subside, and by Saturday or Sunday it should be over, so, in principle, by next week I should be well enough to resume writing and, therefore, releasing chapters.

Above all, I apologize for this sudden hiatus, but there isn’t much else I can do in this situation.
