Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1110: Code Devour! (2)

Chapter 1110: Code Devour! (2)

The flames within Jacob’s sockets contorted when he heard Black Mechanic’s words and impassively questioned, "Violet Rank Spirit Mechanic, meaning a trace left by its master. Is it going to hinder you in any way?"

"Possibly," Black Mechanic replied, his tone layered with static as his runes began to fluctuate, "But they are acting as self-protective encryption—something like a mystic firewall of law. A Violet Rank Spirit Mechanic has a very high comprehension of Mechanical Law, and I’m just at its initial stages. If I attempt to overwrite it directly or too hastily, my core could suffer recursive backlash."

Just as Black Mechanic’s voice trailed off, the dark space vibrated faintly as the crimson pentahedron pulsed, resisting the devouring process.

Those foreign glyphs expanded outward, forming a defensive barrier of pure logic, and strange, almost organic whispers echoed through the tower like a distant choir of distorted souls.

"Intruder of unauthorized rank... cease intrusion...

"This code is bound by Supreme Protocol. Breach attempt...punishable by annihilation."

Even Jacob felt a faint ripple in the law surrounding the tower.

But he didn’t move; he merely folded his hands behind his back, cold amusement glimmering in his hollow gaze as those laws ripple instantly suppressed at his behest, and the resisting crimson pentahedron instantly became still.

"Proceed, Black Mechanic. Let’s see whether that ’Supreme Protocol’ still dares cause trouble. Also, try to comprehend those runes or preserve them; it might be good for your future progress and research. You don’t need to worry about any precautions. Within this space, there’s no law above me!"

Jacob’s words were filled with confidence, and they weren’t without merit, as he proved with his action by directly suppressing that supreme protocol with the Infinite Space.

If it were a mythical being or divine rank treasure, Jacob might’ve been worried slightly, but it was just a wisp of such an existence, and it could be easily suppressed.

This was the main reason Jacob was personally overseeing this entire process so that he could help Black Mechanic at moments like this.

Black Mechanic hesitated for only a millisecond before responding, "Acknowledged... activating auxiliary threads—triple-sequence devour acceleration!"

Black Mechanic has blind faith in Jacob, and after receiving the latter’s command, at once, the black octahedron erupted with dazzling brilliance.

Millions of black runic codes formed into serpentine data streams, weaving together into colossal constructs that resembled mechanical serpents, each one biting into the outer layer of the violet barrier.

The space appeared as if shuddered with digital thunder as the glyphs resisted violently, spreading fractal cracks of red light that lashed across the chamber like lightning. Still, under Jacob’s suppression and control, it vanished as soon as it appeared, causing no harm to Black Mechanic.

With Jacob personally presiding over the entire process, Black Mechanic pressed forward with relentless, cold, and absolute momentum—each devoured rune replaced, rewritten, and finally subjugated.

Slowly, yet agonizingly, the dark glyphs began to falter when the 97% mark appeared on the holographic display.

Then all of a sudden...nothing as the progression halted.

The final three glyphs remained untouched, suspended in the crimson void. Their glow brightened until even the black threads began to erode, fracturing under their pulse.

For the first time, Jacob’s gaze sharpened because he could vaguely see an extremely complex runic law structure imbued within those glyphs, and they weren’t easily handled.

If he wants, he could easily annihilate those glyphs, but by doing so, the Red Spirit Mechanic might as well end up being annihilated because those glyphs were embedded within its ’soul’.

Abruptly, the Red Spirit Mechanic, which was now almost entirely covered in black runes, suddenly trembled, the final glyphs twisted, rearranging into a sigil resembling an eye formed from endless triangles. It was a mystic symbol that might not have belonged to the Legendary Plains.

Jacob could also feel a vague yet profound change the moment that triangular eye appeared, and instead of suppressing it, he let it be, wanting to see what was about to happen.

At that moment, from deep within the crimson pentahedron, a voice that did not belong to Dark Rose echoed faintly; it was mechanical and regal, speaking in the language of Spirit Mechanics.

"Greetings, I’m the Divine Source Code Fragment within this Red Child of Entropy!"

Jacob’s eyes flickered violently because he wasn’t expecting this kind of development at all. For a moment, he thought that the primary consciousness of Dark Rose had somehow managed to infiltrate the Infinite Space.

However, when he thought about how it called itself a ’Fragment of Divine Source Code’ and he didn’t sense any disturbance within the Infinite Space, Jacob calmed down.

Furthermore, that triangular eye seemed to be completely disregarding Jacob’s presence as if he didn’t exist at all, and only looking at Black Mechanic with emotionless and calculative chillness like a divine being gazing at a mortal.

Nonetheless, Jacob didn’t mind, and instead, he was now very curious because that thing seemed to be fully conscious. Since it dared to show itself, it could only mean it was no longer confident in resisting Black Mechanic.

’But since you know that you are about to be devoured, why did you suddenly show yourself and speak up? What compelled it to reveal itself suddenly?’ Jacob thought as he silently ordered Black Mechanic to probe this thing, as he was in no hurry to get rid of it.

Furthermore, with Jacob’s sharp instincts, he was sure that the reason behind this thing showing itself and being willing to have dialogue with them meant there was something it didn’t want Black Mechanic to discover, and it might be almost impossible to stop Black Mechanic from acquiring it.

Black Mechanic, who had received Jacob’s command, spoke up in the same language, "Who are you? What is a Divine Source Code Fragment? Do you perhaps mean ’Spirit Source Code’ of SNIM Race, also our so-called ’Souls’?!"

The triangular eye seemed to be reflecting infinite rotations of triangles within itself before it finally spoke with a hint of curiosity, "What an intriguing child you are, a Black Child of Entropy, a divergence that shouldn’t exist within Zodiac Plains!"
