Chapter 167 - 164: This Is Blatant Robbery

Chapter 167: Chapter 164: This Is Blatant Robbery

"Where’d you get this RV?" Hao Wenli was practically dying of jealousy.

’Why is Chen Xing so damn lucky?’

"Stole it," Chen Xing replied. She didn’t have to answer.

But if she didn’t, their imaginations would run wild.

Knowing Hao Wenli’s wild imagination, she was worried the woman might figure out she had a private dimension or something of the sort.

It was better to be direct.

Sure enough, when she said she’d stolen it, even Yu Heng believed her.

"Where did you steal it? You’ve got some damn good luck," Yu Heng said, his voice tinged with jealousy.

He and Xiao Nan’s group had escaped together and searched all over for an RV, but they hadn’t found a single one.

’And her? She just goes out and not only finds one, but it even has a trailer.’

He had half a mind to take it from her, but... it wasn’t time for that yet.

In truth, he was a little intimidated by Chen Xing. After all, things hadn’t reached the point of mutual destruction.

’Never mind her abilities,’ he thought. ’Just that huge tiger at her side is enough to make me give her a wide berth.’

"Are you planning on going somewhere?" Hao Wenli’s sharp intuition told her that Chen Xing was planning a long trip.

The main reason they were so convinced the RV was stolen was that it was already fully repaired and outfitted.

There were even lush green vegetables growing on top of it.

’If it didn’t already belong to someone, how could it be in such good shape?’

"Mhm." Chen Xing actually hoped the two of them would follow her.

At least that way, she could keep an eye on them.

Otherwise, given their scheming personalities, if they went off to trick other people, someone would definitely fall for it.

Especially back at the factory district; it was best to keep them far away from the people from the Research Institute.

"Where are you headed?" After asking Chen Xing, Hao Wenli looked toward Yu Heng.

Although she was with Yu Heng now, she still had a mission and couldn’t leave Chen Xing.

’If I had to choose between them, for the sake of survival, I’d still stick with Chen Xing.’

No matter how capable Yu Heng was, he was no match for her boss behind the scenes.

Her boss could casually send over enough food and drink to keep her alive for a long time.

"Deke City." After answering, Chen Xing went inside her RV, ignoring them.

Seeing Chen Xing go inside and shut the door, Hao Wenli immediately grabbed Yu Heng’s arm. Tilting her head, she asked in a cute, fawning tone, "Let’s follow her, okay?"

Yu Heng yanked his arm away in annoyance. "Mhm," he said flatly. ’I need to go find us a vehicle, fast.’

From the looks of it, Chen Xing had no intention of letting them ride with her.

’However... that trailer in the back is an option.’

He immediately gestured for Hao Wenli to go and negotiate.

Hao Wenli pouted.

’With a personality like Chen Xing’s, I really don’t want to be the one to sweet-talk her.’

But what could she do? She didn’t want to leave Yu Heng.

After knocking on the door to get Chen Xing to come out, Hao Wenli pointed to the trailer. "That trailer in the back is just sitting empty. Yu Heng and I could stay there..."

"No." Chen Xing cut her off before she could even finish.

’Never mind that 00002 is here,’ she thought. ’Even if he weren’t, I wouldn’t let them stay in it.’

Hao Wenli’s expression instantly soured. "It’s empty anyway! What’s the big deal with letting us stay there?"

"If you want an RV, go find one yourself," Chen Xing said, her tone cold and unforgiving.

Just then, 00002 happened to walk over.

Seeing such a large RV, he didn’t seem to find it unfamiliar. "This is..."

Chen Xing pointed to the trailer. "We’re leaving for Deke City tomorrow morning. Starting tonight, you’ll stay here."

Hao Wenli’s face grew even uglier.

’She’d give the trailer to some amnesiac idiot?’

’But when I ask nicely, she refuses?’

A thought of her boss made her bite her lip and walk back to Yu Heng.

Yu Heng had, of course, heard everything.

’Looks like I’ll have to find an opportunity to teach that Chen Xing a lesson.’

He shot a look at the useless Hao Wenli, then headed out.

Hualai City had been destroyed, so he could only check the surrounding towns. And he had to be back before dawn.

And sure enough, at dawn, Hao Wenli saw a small RV pull up.

It didn’t look as nice as Chen Xing’s trailer, but at least it was a place to live on the road.

"Yu Heng, you really found an RV! You’re amazing!" Hao Wenli gushed, feeling she hadn’t picked the wrong man.

’This man spent the whole night looking for an RV just so I could be more comfortable on the road.’

Out of the corner of her eye, Chen Xing noticed several bloodstains on the rear of the vehicle. The area around the door handle was also heavily damaged.

’He really did steal it.’

Regardless, the four of them—with two RVs and one trailer—set off.

Pulling a trailer, their speed was naturally limited.

After driving for the better part of a day, they entered a rural area where a large bridge loomed ahead.

The bridge appeared to be seven or eight hundred meters long, but the riverbed below was very narrow and mostly dry. Only a few muddy patches were overgrown with weeds.

And starting from those weedy patches, a thick fog swirled up, obscuring the view.

Chen Xing slowed down slightly, easing the RV into the dense fog and onto the bridge.

Perhaps annoyed by Chen Xing’s slow pace, Yu Heng’s RV sped past her and vanished into the dense fog.

The bridge had a rather steep incline.

Combined with the thick fog, it was nearly impossible to see the road ahead.

The vehicle up ahead suddenly slammed on its brakes.

Even from a distance, Chen Xing’s RV was jolted by the force.

Sensing trouble, Chen Xing decisively turned her vehicle around.

The bridge was wide and had no median barrier, so she managed to turn around in a couple of maneuvers.

"Help... Help! Chen Xing, save us! I’m begging you, save us!" Hao Wenli’s crying was laced with terror.

Chen Xing ignored them, instead driving her RV to a safe spot under the bridge.

She went to the trailer and instructed 00002, "Don’t open the door no matter what. Meng Hu is outside, so you don’t need to worry."

After giving her instructions, she ran into the thick fog.

After running for more than five hundred meters, she reached the downward slope of the bridge. She could see Hao Wenli’s RV, its chassis faintly shaking.

A little further ahead, she saw that the bridge was broken. The RV’s front wheels were hanging over a drop of several dozen meters.

"Help! Save us!" Hao Wenli’s screams were incessant.

Right now, she didn’t even dare to breathe too loudly, let alone look back.

They were lucky that the front of the RV had gotten snagged, otherwise they would have plunged to their deaths, shattered to pieces.

How could they dare move an inch in a situation like this?

Chen Xing walked to the rear of the RV, got a grip on a groove in the undercarriage, and with a powerful heave backward, dragged the vehicle to safety.

The two inside, blinded by the fog and their own panic, had no idea how they had been saved.

They just assumed Chen Xing had used her own RV to tow them back.

After a long moment, they finally got out of the vehicle, still visibly shaken.

The two of them hadn’t even had a chance to catch their breath when they heard a strange noise. A moment later, a monster leaped out in front of them.

The monster was enormous. Its lower body was stocky and dark, its features indistinct, but its head was that of a flat-mouthed fish with absurdly thick lips.

Its body was soaking wet. With a single shake, it sent water droplets flying everywhere.

When it landed, the entire bridge trembled, letting out a series of ominous CREAKS, as if it were about to collapse.
