Chapter 160: Chapter 157: Survivor

Chen Xing just watched her coldly and said two words, "Get out!"

Xiao Nan broke out in a cold sweat. He didn’t dare argue with her and immediately scrambled out of the room.

Cui Ying lay on the ground, clutching her neck in despair and fear.

"Get your girlfriend out of here!" Chen Xing yelled coldly.

Xiao Nan was speechless. He was truly afraid now.

The living room in the house Chen Xing had chosen was large and had curtains for privacy.

She pulled a small RV out of her dimensional space, took a shower, and made some stewed noodles. After a simple meal of noodles, a side dish, and a sweet bean bun, she went to sleep.

In the morning, Meng Hu ambled back from a distance.

When Hao Wenli and the others saw a tiger approaching, they thought it was wild and scrambled back into the house in fear.

She wasn’t in a hurry to return, so she drove a loop around Hualai City.

There were no buildings left standing in the entirety of Hualai City.

All that remained were endless ruins, a sight even more wretched than that of the Capital City.

Now dressed in plain clothes, she picked her way through the rubble, heading in the direction of the Research Institute.

She couldn’t be certain of the exact location, but she remembered the general direction.

Once in the vicinity, Chen Xing began to search meticulously.

But after the explosions and the massive fire, it was impossible to make anything out.

Just as she was about to give up, she suddenly heard a cry for help from beneath the rubble.

A patch of rubble was shifting, occasionally pushing upward.

The boy collapsed to the ground in anguish, his pale face a mask of bewilderment. "Why can’t I remember anything?"

"How did you survive?" Chen Xing asked, her curiosity piqued as she looked at his uninjured body.

The boy shook his head.

"When I woke up, I was surrounded by fire, but for some reason... I’m not afraid of fire!" His eyes were filled with pain and confusion. "I waited for the fire to die down and tried to climb out, but I wasn’t strong enough. It’s a good thing you saw me and saved me. Thank you!"

"I’m heading home now. You want to come with?" In her mind, Chen Xing temporarily assigned him the designation Number 00002.

Number 00002 nodded. "Yeah."

Everything was foreign to him; he had no idea what to do.

So Chen Xing led him out of Hualai City.

Hao Wenli was looking miserable.

The sky was growing dark, and still, no one had returned.

When she saw Chen Xing return, she forced a smile and went to greet her, despite her dislike. "You’re finally back! And this is?"

She wasn’t stupid.

’Just looking at his helpless expression, he must be one of them, another one of those weirdos.’

’It’s just... where do these people keep popping up from?’

Chen Xing ignored her as usual and turned to Number 00002. "Pick any of those houses over there to rest in. A few people will be back later. You’ll get something to eat then."

With that, she went into her room.
