Chapter 111 - 108: Qiu Min
Chapter 111: Chapter 108: Qiu Min
"My pet can do its part, too!" Chen Xing said humbly.
Meng Hu’s combat power was off the charts.
Ran Gaoyang wiped the sweat from his forehead.
’It’s the apocalypse. Nothing is surprising anymore.’
After a brief delay, the group set out.
Along the way, they picked up more scraps of paper, all written by Qiu Min.
Soon, the convoy was in sight again.
A residential community appeared up ahead.
The community was built in a hilly, rural area. It wasn’t large, consisting of eight six-story buildings.
The community was enclosed by a wall taller than a man, and its entrance was a heavy iron gate.
Over time, everyone had learned what kind of environment was best for survival. When building their homes, they did their utmost to make them as defensible as possible.
The key was to block zombies and other such threats, as well as to fend off other mutated species.
Since it was in the mountains, they also had to guard against wild animals.
Another advantage of this community was the ability to survey the surroundings from the upper floors.
They could immediately spot any sign of trouble.
If Chen Xing hadn’t been so vigilant and advised against following rashly, they would have been discovered long ago.
Seeing the others just watching without making a move, Xu Biao grew anxious. "Aren’t we going to rescue them?"
He was frantic!
’Qiu Min is so timid; even the sound of thunder on a normal day would make her tremble with fear.’
’Now that she’s been captured by a gang of rough brutes, isn’t she scared half to death?’
The thought of his little darling being afraid made him lose all patience.
Ran Gaoyang was anxious too, but it was broad daylight. The slightest move would get them discovered. "There are several guards on the roof. We can’t get close!"
"So we just stand here and watch?" Xu Biao was so agitated he almost rushed out, but thankfully, Ran Gaoyang blocked his way.
"Brother Xu, even if you did charge over there, you wouldn’t get through the gate!" Ling Yi pointed above the entrance. "There’s barbed wire up there. It’s probably electrified."
Xu Biao knew he couldn’t be reckless, but the thought of the children made his heart twist in knots. "Does this mean we have to wait for nightfall?"
’Qiu Min will be scared to tears by then!’
Just then, Chen Xing, who had been observing the situation from a distance, spoke up. "I’ll have Meng Hu draw their fire. You all use the opportunity to get inside however you can!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Meng Hu leaped out and started running toward the community.
The men on the roof noticed at once, grabbing a whistle and blowing it frantically.
Inside the community, the men who were inspecting their loot and captives heard the urgent alarm. They all gathered nervously. "What’s happening?"
"A tiger is charging our community!" the man on the roof shouted, his eyes glued to the tiger. As it neared the gate, he nervously aimed his gun at it.
"Shit!" When Brother Leopard, the man in charge, heard it was just a wild animal, he instantly relaxed. "What’s there to be afraid of a tiger for? It can’t get in anyway!"
’I thought a whole mob was breaking in. Got all worked up for nothing!’
’Even if you gave the tiger a chance, it couldn’t get through the gate.’
’Putting aside the heavy gate and iron walls, could its ordinary body even withstand that electric fence up there?’
Hearing Brother Leopard’s words, the men on the roof relaxed a little and lowered their guns.
But to their surprise, when the tiger reached the gate, it didn’t even pause. With a single leap, it jumped onto the wall, ignored the powerful electric fence, and landed right inside the community.
If it weren’t for the sparks flying from the broken fence, they would have thought someone had forgotten to turn the power on.
And looking at the tiger, it was completely unharmed by the electricity and immediately began attacking people.
The community was instantly thrown into chaos.
Ran Gaoyang’s people were being forced out of their vehicles, but when they saw Meng Hu suddenly appear, they all scrambled back inside, making sure to pull the children in with them.
Brother Leopard reacted fast, grabbing his gun and aiming it at Meng Hu.
Despite Meng Hu’s large size, it was incredibly fast at dodging bullets.
Neither Brother Leopard nor the men on the roof could stop Meng Hu. Instead, they were sent scattering and fleeing from its attacks.
The men on the roof were completely focused on Meng Hu; no one was paying any attention to what was happening outside the walls.
Seeing that the men on the roof were too preoccupied to notice anything else, Ling Yi raised his sniper rifle and picked them off one by one with headshots.
With the threat on the roof eliminated, the rest of the group charged toward the community.
Chen Xing was the first one inside.
Don’t ask how she got in.
Ran Gaoyang watched as Chen Xing vaulted over the two-meter-high wall with a single kick-off. He suddenly realized he had underestimated her—grossly underestimated her.
By the time Ran Gaoyang reached the main gate, Chen Xing had already taken care of the guards there and pulled the heavy iron gate open.
The people hiding in the vehicles saw Ran Gaoyang arrive and knew it was time to fight back together. Leaving the old, the weak, the sick, and the young in the cars, the rest all disembarked and joined the counterattack.
There were quite a few women among them. Knowing their Combat Power was low, they found weapons hidden in the cars, formed small teams, and specifically targeted lone enemies.
Brother Leopard, seeing the tide turn, had already retreated behind a bus. He looked back and saw his own men in the building.
These were the ones who had hidden the moment they saw Meng Hu break into the community.
By headcount, there were over thirty of them.
Although the captured convoy had more people, most of them had no Combat Power.
’As long as I can subdue those men, I still have a chance to win.’
’The biggest problem right now is that tiger.’
’I don’t know where it came from, but it bites anyone on sight.’
’Best case, it bites all these people who dared to attack our community to death. That would save me a lot of trouble.’
But after watching for a moment, he discovered that the incredibly ferocious tiger was only biting *his* men.
The enemy’s people were right there beside it, but it didn’t even give them a second glance.
Brother Leopard: "..."
’This can’t go on!’
’I have to deal with these people, and fast!’
He immediately grabbed one of his men and shoved him toward Meng Hu. "Go lure that tiger away!"
The man who was pushed out: "..."
’Lure the tiger away?’
’How am I supposed to outrun a tiger, boss?’
As he stumbled to his feet, he saw the tiger had already noticed him.
The potential a person can unleash in a life-or-death situation should never be underestimated.
The man took off running, faster than he ever had in his entire life.
Desperate to live, he actually managed to lure the great tiger away.
Without the tiger, these people were nothing but useless trash in Brother Leopard’s eyes.
He smashed the bus window, yanked out Qiu Min who was hiding inside, and pressed a gun to her head. "Everybody fucking freeze, or I’ll kill her!"
Xu Biao was the first to stop.
He stopped so suddenly that an enemy took the opportunity to club him to the ground.
Ran Gaoyang and the others had no choice but to stop as well, dropping their weapons.
The group had been on the verge of victory, but with Qiu Min taken hostage, the tables were instantly turned.
"You bastard, let her go! What kind of man threatens a little girl? If you’ve got any balls, come after me!" Xu Biao, beaten to the ground, roared in fury. "Let her go..."
Brother Leopard sneered. "Curse at me one more time, and I’ll blow her brains out."
As he spoke, his thick hand tightened around the nape of Qiu Min’s neck. He squeezed, and her face began to turn red.
