Chaos Heir

Chapter 1593: Glass

Chapter 1593: Glass

The long-haired King couldn’t really understand what had happened. Actually, he could, but failed to realize how.

For all intents and purposes, the King had blocked Lord Blind Sword’s seemingly non-existent blade. He saw its intent clearly and could interact with it, even harnessing it to reflect it at his opponent.

However, despite blocking the blade, Lord Blind Sword’s attack had still risen toward the sky, cleaving the darkened area and the burly King in half.

As for how Lord Blind Sword had achieved that, the long-haired King could only guess, his instantaneous conclusions condensing into two possible alternatives: the Royal Guard could launch attacks without relying on his blade, or what the King saw wasn’t the entirety of his sword.

In both instances, it was evident that the long-haired King couldn’t completely stop Lord Blind Sword. He probably didn’t even have the time to learn more about his ability, forcing him to change his battle strategy.

The severed chunks of darkened sky cleared, returning to their natural black emptiness, but the upside-down, burly King underwent a different process. The sudden attack might have split him in half vertically, but that wasn’t enough to kill an existence at his level.

True Chaos flickered from the two severed halves, pulling them together to reattach them. Glowing smoke kept flowing even after the process was over, only dispersing when the King regained complete control over his body.

Nevertheless, that dispersion revealed a troubling sight. The burly King had fully healed, but an evident scar had remained on his black body, going from the top of his head and ending on his feet to encircle him completely.

As miraculous as the True Chaos was, even those powerful existences from a superior energy weren’t immune to damage to their beings. Lord Blind Sword’s attack wasn’t something the burly King could heal on the spot, the scar acting as proof of his might.

That mark would typically bring hesitation, which it did, making the burly King temporarily disregard his previous opponent to address that blind swordsman.

Yet, the smoke on the burly King’s back flickered oddly, bringing his attention to his fellow King on the ground. He had received another silent communication, conveying the updated battle strategy, which he completely agreed with.

Lord Blind Sword sensed a second pair of scarlet eyes falling on him, almost hinting at the new battle strategy, but his opponent didn’t let him dwell on that realization.

The long-haired King might have failed to sense the entirety of Lord Blind Sword’s blade, but he had still harnessed part of his killing intent, and he didn’t hesitate to unleash it now.

Lord Blind Sword’s attention had just begun to rise when something far more dangerous forced him to focus on what was in front of him. He promptly stepped back, waving his seemingly empty handle multiple times, releasing a cacophony of clinging noises.

The event didn’t end with those few invisible deflections. An ethereal ellipse formed in front of the long-haired King, which generated smaller versions of those invisible shapes before trembling in unison.

Something not as bright as what had previously shot at Lord Envoy escaped the array of concentric ellipses. A beam radiating an ominous dark light flashed forward, immediately slamming into Lord Blind Sword.

Lord Blind Sword’s reaction speed was no joke. He could have dodged the beam, but doing so would have made it fly all the way to Lord Envoy and Airrak, forcing him to face it head-on.

Of course, the long-haired King had done that on purpose, but Lord Blind Sword showed no hesitation in slashing at the beam, splitting it, and preventing it from crossing his figure.

Nevertheless, splitting the beam didn’t prevent it from inflicting damage. That attack was pure intent of something Lord Blind Sword knew far too well, injuring him in more ways than one.

Multiple superficial cuts suddenly opened over Lord Blind Sword’s arms, and one even split the piece of cloth over his face. The eyepatch fell, revealing his closed, empty sockets, which intensified the sternness that had invaded his expression.

Nothing hinted at that, but Lord Blind Sword couldn’t feel his right leg anymore. He was still standing, but the beam had severed his connection to it. Actually, since it was his element that had caused that, he knew the attack had killed that sensation.

Fighting on one leg wasn’t necessarily an issue since Lord Blind Sword was focused on defending. Truth be told, in his mind, it would be shameful to make it become a problem, but the King’s offense didn’t end there.

The burly King had resumed his descent during the exchange, arriving beside Lord Blind Sword by the time the beam had expired. The injury on his leg became relevant now, only allowing a partial slash to his left.

The incomplete attack couldn’t deal with what had followed the burly King. Two violent waves of darkened sky had followed the alien’s descent and shot forward alongside his rising arms.

Two uppercuts in the form of ethereal waves of energy washed over Lord Blind Sword, with only a quarter of them being cut by his non-existent blade. Everything else hit him directly, inflicting untold damage on his body and existence.

Lord Blind Sword shook both outside and inside. His tissues and aura trembled to no end, trapped in a destructive ethereal earthquake that made his very existence lose its structural stability.

Chunks of Lord Blind Sword’s flesh crumbled into gory rain, and worse unfolded inside him. His mana lost any facade of stability, becoming impossible to summon or draw power from.

However, Lord Blind Sword didn’t move. The safest option would have been to let the waves of darkened sky fling him away to reduce their damage, but his feet remained firmly on the black ground. He couldn’t sense his right one, but he knew he could trust it to do its job.

Lord Blind Sword showed incredible physical prowess and recklessness as he forcefully bent forward, his crumbling abs bulging to no end to perform the move. A broad grin appeared on his face while the darkened sky kept maiming it, but he only cared about bringing his handle back to his scabbard.

Once the Royal Guard surprisingly succeeded in the task, enduring far more damage than necessary, a sense of pure dread invaded the two Kings, making them retreat on the spot.

Lord Blind Sword forcefully unsheathed his non-existent sword again at that point, seemingly slashing the air, but everything instantly turned into smoke. The darkened sky cleared, and a vast patch of the soil in front of him started evaporating, losing any connection to its True Chaos.

Pitch-black, glowing mist had taken over the quadrant, but it cleared quickly, revealing a vast, uneven cavity that reached far in the distance. And, on its opposite end, the two Kings stood unharmed but radiating newfound seriousness.

"[Ah]!" Lord Blind Sword cried, pieces of his face still falling off while he straightened his back. "[This is far better! For the E]-!"

"[For the Emperor]," Lord Envoy interrupted, calmly speaking the same line Lord Blind Sword had intended to shout, and everything cracked as if it were made of glass.
