Chapter 1454: Incoming guests

Chapter 1454: Incoming guests

In normal circumstances, an interspecies meeting wouldn’t take long to arrange and host. The regulated universe’s political situation couldn’t have been better for those purposes, either. After all, various species were already in one place or in contact with each other.

However, the meeting Khan had called for was anything but normal. It wasn’t for ordinary warriors to attend. He needed evolved entities who could understand his language and the threat’s nature, and they took time to mobilize.

Getting Thilku representatives wouldn’t be a problem, or rather, they featured a different kind of headache. Khan already had the best possible envoys waiting in orbit, but his brain hurt when he thought about hosting an interspecies meeting with them.

Human evolved warriors would be easy to gather, too. That was Earth in the end. The Global Army was bound to have someone decent enough to represent humankind lying around.

Khan believed the Kros wouldn’t be a problem, either. They had no horse in the interspecies political fight anyway, and their technology was great. They could probably get a worthy representative and one of their sentient spheres to Earth in no time.

The Niqols were already covered with Liiza. Doku could also attend, and Coravis was one teleport away from the desert anyway. The Elders could join whenever they wanted.

Instead, the other species were a bit of a problem. Khan was in good relationships with Fuveall and Ef’i, and the latter also had agreements with humankind. Yet, he didn’t know how hard it would be for them to summon evolved warriors.

Khan could think of a few additional names, too. The Kred had valuable warriors, but humankind basically owned them. The species from Milia 222 could also be helpful, but their participation in the meeting was doubtful.

Still, the Nele were part of that group, and Khan didn’t really know their current state. He could only guess they had no evolved warriors of their own, making their stance quite weak. Khan would probably have to vouch for them, but that required a talk first, which was why he believed Jenna would come to Earth.

Actually, Khan didn’t have to rely on his beliefs. Teleports had flared all around the quadrant while Khan dealt with reunions and private conversations, bringing existences that stood far above the fifth level to his attention.

All the important pieces were slowly gathering in the quadrant, but no one converged toward Khan yet. The etiquette required those representatives to wait until all the guests were present, so everyone remained in their relatively distant positions, waiting for the meeting’s requirements to be met.

Also, despite Khan’s overbearing words, Earth remained the center of humankind’s domain. It was the Global Army’s home and headquarters. All the guests had to pass through it before gathering for the meeting.

Of course, there were exceptions. One organization didn’t abide by interspecies laws due to its unique leader, even going as far as ignoring the political etiquette to solve one of Khan’s problems before the gossip could delve any further.

Khan had barely just named Ilman when a peculiar aura touched his senses, making him glance toward what was left of Aynor. Everything was basically the same until an iconic purple light appeared in the distance, drawing closer by the second.

Khan’s glowing eyes weren’t something people could miss. Liiza had long since begun to look in the same direction, and the rest of the group soon followed suit.

Monica and Rodney obviously recognized that glow. That iconic light wasn’t something they could forget after their time on Milia 222. They knew who was coming, and Khan confirmed that by standing up.

The imminent conversation was bound to involve politics, so Khan decided to walk toward the incoming group to achieve a modicum of privacy.

Eventually, the incoming group enveloped in purple light got close enough to show its structure. It only featured human soldiers wearing brown marks under their noses, with a single exception made of a green figure walking slightly ahead of them.

Khan had known that Nele wasn’t Jenna ever since the teleport brought her to Earth. Yet, he had a friendly relationship with her, too. It was simply surprising to see her after so long and in a desert.

"[Caja]," Khan called, unleashing his perfect Nele accent as he stopped before the group.

The human soldiers performed military salutes before retreating, giving their leader and the Nele room to talk. As for the alien, she was exactly how Khan recalled her, graceful, elegant, youthful despite the few wrinkles, and with some grey strands among her pale-green hair.

"[Young man]," Caja saluted, smiling brightly. "[I remember only asking you for a political ally. This old lady almost fainted when she heard you gave us a planet]."

"[I had a spare]," Khan waved his hand dismissively. "[And don’t fish for compliments from a married man. You know you are still in your prime]."

"[Fish for ...]," Caja muttered, pondering what that line could mean before her dark eyes lit up in understanding. "[I see! How time flies. You would have entertained me all those years ago]."

Caja’s smile grew slightly more serious as she looked past Khan, inspecting the source of the white light shining on his back.

"[But I suppose much has changed for the better]," Caja continued, switching to the human language. "Isn’t that right, young miss?"

Khan didn’t need to turn to know who had followed him. Liiza took a few steps forward, reaching Khan’s side before lowering her head in respect. She would have performed a traditional Niqols’ bow, but her arms were busy with Yeza.

"It’s an honor to meet one of our Nele allies’ leaders," Liiza announced. "I’m Liiza, Khan’s wife."

"I put sweet Jenna in charge of the colony on Milia 222 years ago," Caja rejected the title in the greeting. "I had to make way for the new generation to rise."

Caja lowered her gaze to the baby in Liiza’s arms before looking at how her bare feet dug into the sand. She had spent decades unable to touch a planet, only to visit two different ones in mere months, with one being the Nele’s new home.

"I was curious about who his One could be," Caja revealed. "I’m so satisfied I feel twenty years younger."

Liiza smiled, accepting the compliment, and Khan remained silent for a few seconds, letting the two women dwell in that friendly atmosphere before talking business.

"[Are you here for the meeting, Caja]?" Khan asked. "[I can arrange a safe seat for you]."

"[Young man, what meeting]?" Caja chuckled. "[You have already granted the Nele a future. Just speak for us as if you were one of our own. You already are for many of us]."
