Chapter 1310: Unleashed
Chapter 1310: Unleashed
A scene that came straight from Khan’s nightmares unfolded in his view, triggering foreign emotions he had already experienced in the past and giving them newfound intensity.
The scarlet light around what looked like pupils intensified until it became a permanent blemish, giving the aliens more human but devilish eyes. Their gazes also grew sharper, highlighting how that transformation involved more than superficial features.
Meanwhile, the dense black gas coming from the torn horns condensed even more, gaining an ominous radiance that darkened its surroundings, unleashing visible effects.
The white roots around and inside the two aliens quickly disappeared. Chunks of their freezing fabric vanished out of existence, as if erased by an invisible force that perfectly countered and nullified its energy signature.
The aliens broke free in no time, but the process didn’t end there. The many wounds on their backs and bodies resumed bleeding, only for the glowing black gas to change direction and flow toward them, washing over the two evolved warriors.
The two black aliens became impossible to see, hidden inside that glowing dark cloud, but their figures promptly stepped out of the gas, revealing their new state.
The injuries caused by Liiza’s cage had disappeared. Every hole had closed, and the torn pieces of the robes had also reattached themselves. The shorter alien had even regained his left ear and severed strands of hair, restoring his original appearance.
The cloud didn’t stay still, either. The black, glowing gas attached itself to the two aliens, fusing with their long capes and figures to create a steam-like aura behind them.
Moreover, the aliens’ presence flared, filling the sky with their oppressive, respective nature. Stern and primordial vibes invaded the grey landscape, dimmed by the dark glow emanating from the flickering smoke on the two evolved warriors.
Somehow, the transformation didn’t feel like a proper power-up. The two aliens seemed to have been unleashed rather than have grown stronger, and their eyes’ glow gradually dimmed, eventually revealing their new scarlet irises.
That surprising development had stunned Khan for reasons he had no control over, but he snapped out of his daze when the two aliens focused. The taller warrior pointed his gaze at him, while his shorter companion glanced at Liiza, grinning again to show his now-intact teeth.
The wound on the shorter alien’s cheek had disappeared, but the latter didn’t want to let that insult go. Yet, a figure suddenly materialized before him, interrupting his plans to go after Liiza again.
Khan didn’t know how versed Liiza was in melee combat. She had always been better at wide-range spells, but he felt able to trust her in that other field, too.
Nevertheless, no matter how competent Liiza was, the pregnancy was bound to get in her way. Also, melee combat would increase the danger for the baby, and Khan couldn’t allow it.
Khan’s leg was already stretched, pointing at the shorter alien’s face. Less than a centimeter stood between his foot and the evolved warrior’s nose, making the imminent impact set in stone.
Yet, Khan suddenly grew weaker. Strength abandoned his body, and all the mana amassed by making countless strands of energy clash inside his leg vanished, turning his incredible execution into nothing more than an ordinary kick.
Of course, the event didn’t disperse Khan’s momentum, and his body still had plenty of strength to unleash. He was mana and might, and the former’s disappearance didn’t prevent him from being able to crush mountains.
However, the shorter alien headbutted Khan’s feet, and the impact sent a deafening roar through the sky. Khan felt as if he had crashed into an immovable wall, and his figure stopped advancing, losing its momentum without inflicting any damage.
Khan could hardly believe that conclusion. Disappearing mana aside, he carried the Great Old One’s bloodline. His physical strength wasn’t something that could be endured, let alone matched.
Still, the shorter alien had done exactly that while empowered by the black smoke flickering on him. The broken horn had stopped releasing that energy, but Khan could see it flowing inside the evolved warrior, granting him unfathomable strength.
Khan couldn’t dwell on that surprise since the taller alien moved, shooting at his side while black sparks ran through his clawed hand. That crackling energy also released glowing dark smoke, making Khan’s survival instincts scream in danger.
The taller alien was almost upon Khan when white crystals materialized before his face, releasing spikes that planned to litter his head with holes. Yet, the sudden event didn’t slow down the evolved warrior’s attack. If anything, it accelerated it.
The white spikes were about to touch the taller alien’s black skin when their sharp tips disappeared. The evolved warrior’s advance also stretched those mysterious effects to their bodies and crystals, erasing every trace of that spell by the time he had crossed it.
The lack of delays in that advance and Khan’s inability to rely on his mana made the attack unavoidable. He could still summon his cells’ power, but that ability couldn’t unleash a satisfactory speed burst.
Therefore, the taller alien’s crackling and fuming hand landed on Khan’s right side, but his fingers failed to pierce his skin despite the destructive energy thundering over them.
Khan’s blood vessels had clotted where the crackling hand had landed. That black color had also spread to the surrounding skin, creating a shield that endured that destructive attack.
The shorter alien didn’t waste that chance and slipped under Khan’s stretched leg, his scarlet eyes quickly finding the dark figure on the white landmass. He planned to leave Khan to his companion to deal with Liiza, but a purple-red light filled his vision.
The lightning bolts Khan had previously created had converged toward his position. They flew at high speed toward him, uncaring of the damage they could inflict on him.
Khan could always bet on being tougher than his opponents, and that wouldn’t be his first time blowing up his spells in his face to deal with troublesome enemies.
However, the lightning bolts never had that chance. Their energy started to disappear as soon as they entered the two aliens’ distant surroundings. Their auras echoed the black smoke’s properties, eradicating the mana inside Khan’s spell once they fell prey to their influence.
Khan instantly detonated his many lightning bolts, but that did little to change the situation. Blinding clouds of destructive energy and thundering sparks expanded all around Khan and the two aliens, but that mana never got any closer.
Actually, the purple-red mana and sparks tried to expand toward the aliens, but that energy vanished as soon as it crossed an unclear threshold, creating a vast, safe area inside that blinding storm.
The shorter alien didn’t hesitate anymore and shot downward, flying after Liiza. Khan followed him with his gaze, summoning all the strength his cells could unleash, but the [Blood Shield] suddenly gave in, and the taller alien’s crackling hand pierced his skin.
