Chapter 236: Finally Giving Them What Was Agreed To.

Frances: “With that dressing up act, I’ll admit to now being lost. Did you say that there wasn’t any form of ritual that is needed, Celia?” She asked, hoping for clarification.

Lyrica: “Yeah, most of this is going over our heads. Or is there an actual cost, but, with your viewpoint as an Immortal Higher Being, you don’t see it as one?” She added with a thinking pose.

Celia: “No cost, none at all. If you don’t count immortality as a curse, that is. Other than living forever, honestly, any other Higher Being could offer you the same thing; not just me.” She answered with a reassuring tone.

Frances: “It isn’t special, your offer? If so, that is…quite a bit frightening to think about…” She replied with a head tilt.

Celia: “Depending on the Dimension, people, Mortals, Higher Beings, etc. all have access to a System. If you’ve played an RPG game before, a real one, you’ll easily pick the System up, and understand it within a few minutes.” She clarified with a laugh.

To give someone immortality outright would, of course, not be a free thing; but in this case, and every other situation, such a method isn’t needed at all and usually never preferred. Letting the System do it instead is the most effective, time efficient manner of making someone into a Higher Being.

Without knowing of the System, most would assume Celia’s offer as a scam, or that it has a trick hidden within it. After all, money wise, this gift of Celia’s is the equivalent of someone, like, saying they’d give you centillions of dollars, asking for nothing in return. How could that not be an evil scheme of some manner? Alas, my wife is a (mostly) law-abiding Higher Being, not a trickster!

Lyrica: “Wait, wait…you mean, a System such as the type that people get in isekai manga and novels? That kind!?” She said with a dazed tone and with her eyes in a spiral.

Frances: “Lyrica keeps trying to get me into playing games, but haven’t indulged yet; so I don’t understand why she is so very shocked right now…” She said with a sigh.

Lyrica: “Mom, if what I think the System is, then…we only have to get levels up to get power. Is that right, Celia? Like, what happens once we gain levels? Is there a cap that, once reached, then an evolution is possible?” She asked with an excited tone.

Celia: “Correct.” She answered with an affirming nod.

Lyrica: “(~OAO)”

My wife then went on to give them both a System (which she easily had the ability and right to do, since some of her daughters, as well as one wife, control the System), explaining how it works in full. Mainly for Frances’s ears to hear, as the woman wasn’t familiar with RPG mechanics at all.

Frances: “Since EXP is gained from killing things, do you wish for us to become murderers, Celia? There aren’t any Monsters present in this Dimension from what I understand…” She asked with a serious tone.

Lyrica: “…”

Celia: “Hm? No, random Mortals wouldn’t give you much EXP; it’d take years and millions of dead to reach just a Goddess Evolution from killing them.” She denied with a shrug.

Frances: “Then…how exactly will we become Higher Beings, immortal, just as you’ve said you’ll help us obtain?” She added with a calmer tone and expression.

Celia: “Soul Crystals. They’re similar to EXP items in a game; eat one, and you’ll gain EXP, Leveling up with no work involved. I’ll just feed you two Soul Crystals until you reach the Highest Goddess Evolution.” She cheerfully clarified, happy to test out more of her Soul Crystal meals on unsuspecting victims.

Lyrica and Frances: “…”
