Chapter 1784: Soul Embrace

Chapter 1784: Soul Embrace

Elayne and Mark watched Blank leave just like that. They stared at each other for a moment before smiling as brightly as they could, hearts swelling with joy. They had come this far—living inside a noble’s house, even if only for seven days. It was a tremendous success.

They didn’t waste time, though. There was much to do. First, they decided to wear proper clothes this time. Blank’s words had stung their pride deeply, and they refused to feel embarrassed like that again.

Elayne chose pure white: a flowing dress with a semi-transparent veil, white heels, white socks—everything pristine. “Wow… I look like a bride. Is this the style female White Ghosts prefer?”

“Wow…” Mark gazed at her in awe, captivated by her beauty. “You look like a ghost bride…”

“Haha, it’s a bit much for my taste, but Blank wasn’t wrong. It’s better than my old dress…” Elayne nodded. “I’ll keep it. Maybe like this, I won’t draw so many angry stares from passing White Ghosts.”

“Ah, about mine…” Mark muttered. “My armor is part of my body, so I just conjured it away for now.”

Mark appeared as a tall, muscular man. Using his soul flames, he shaped blazing muscles to hide his skeletal form, even refining his fiery face for more detail. He wore a pure white suit with silver linings and buttons, paired with silver shoes.

“You look wonderful in that white suit!” Elayne said warmly. “I never imagined we’d dress so elegantly once we reached the Netherworld.”

“You never know what the world has in store,” Mark laughed softly. “Anyway, we should check that Class Changing Stone, right?”

“Yeah!” Elayne nodded eagerly.

Even without his armor, Mark towered over her—twice her height, a gentle giant. Elayne didn’t mind at all. If anything, she loved it, though she kept that feeling quietly to herself.

“But wow, you’re really big…” she giggled, hugging him around his stomach. “So big…!”

“Ah, is it strange? I guess I became enormous after turning into a skeleton…” Mark sighed.

“No, no, it’s perfect. I love it,” Elayne whispered. “Don’t I look strange myself?”

“Not at all,” Mark said tenderly, caressing her face. “You’re as beautiful as ever, Elayne. That charm never fades.”

“Aw…” Elayne smiled, leaning in to kiss him.

Though he had no flesh, his lips—formed from solidified soul flames—were warm and comforting. The kiss filled Elayne with happiness. Mark’s warmth made her feel truly alive. Before they knew it, passion overtook them, and she kissed him deeply on their large bed.

“Mark…! Ahh…!”

“Elayne… I had no idea we could… kiss like this…”

“It’s wonderful… Kiss me more? Please? I need… I need your warmth… I’m so cold…”

“Of course… I’ll give you all the warmth you desire.”

Mark smiled, his ethereal eyes gazing into her soul. Though physically dead, their spirits entwined in a realm born from their shared essence. They embraced one another fully.

The flames of their love burned brightly. Even without physical bodies, Mark held her lovingly, kissing her neck and body. Elayne returned his affection, hugging and caressing him.

In this realm of spirit and soul, sensations could be shared. What was impossible outside became possible here.

Without realizing it, they were engaging in what the White Ghost Race called “Soul Embrace”—the deepest expression of love among the Undead.

“Aahh! Mark!”

“Elayne…!”

From outside, it appeared they were merely hugging, yet their souls blazed with passion, glowing bright red.

It felt like an instant, but two hours passed.

“Haaa… Haaa… I-I don’t know what we just did, but it was wonderful…” Elayne gasped, her soul trembling with lingering ecstasy. Though she needed no oxygen, she drew in the surrounding Nether deeply.

“Yeah… Haaa… I didn’t know I could do that,” Mark sighed in relief, smiling as he held her close. “Elayne… I will never let you go.”

He embraced her tightly, unwilling to release her. Elayne smiled, basking in the warmth of his soul fire. For this precious moment, the coldness of death vanished completely.

“I won’t let you go either,” she whispered. “Even after death… I’ll stay by your side, no matter what…”

“I won’t let anyone harm you again…” Mark vowed, his eyes blazing with fierce love—an obsession that fueled his undead existence. “Never… I will never let you go… never… never…!”

“Mark…” Elayne smiled warmly, fully aware that, like her, he wasn’t entirely whole. Both carried immense trauma. Their souls had been stripped of life and joy. For years, his had endured boiling torture. On the surface, he seemed the same, but Mark had changed deeply. “I will always love you, no matter what… We’ll get through this together, all right?”

“Yes… yes, we will…” Mark nodded, eyes filled with love, sorrow, and a touch of madness. “My beautiful Elayne… you’re mine… my beautiful Elayne…” he murmured repeatedly.

“And I won’t let you go either,” Elayne whispered back.

They drifted to sleep for a few more hours, waking slowly when Elayne realized they had rested too long.

In the Labyrinth Region, day and night were hard to distinguish, but legends spoke of a sky beyond these eternal caverns—filled with stars and moons.

Those stars and moons likely dwelled in the distant Chaos Realm, encircling the Netherworld like a vast nebula.

Elayne longed to see them one day and added it to her growing list of dreams.

“Mark, are you awake?” she called softly.

“Hm…” Mark groaned, his ethereal eyes—glowing gold and crimson—slowly opening. “Yes… I’m awake now. Ah, I was so tired. Sorry for falling asleep… It’s just that we hadn’t had time alone like this in so long…”

“I agree. It was wonderful,” Elayne smiled, caressing his chest. “Shall we get going?”

“Yes, we should visit that Class Changing Stone,” Mark nodded. “I need it too… to grow stronger and protect you better.”

“I was wondering where Yaga and the others are,” Elayne said, standing and stretching. “Ah, I’m naked, huh?”

At some point, she had shed her elegant clothes, embracing Mark’s Soul Flame Body completely.

“Ahem, okay, let’s start the day…”

After dressing, they stepped out of their room. A faint buzz of voices drifted from downstairs.

“How’s everyone else?” Elayne wondered as they descended.

There, she found Yaga, Sailor, Norman, Shade, and Lisette gathered around a freshly cooked meal, chatting animatedly. Blank and his father were with them. The only ones missing had been her and Mark.
