Aspiring to the Immortal Path

Chapter 1156: Holy Water

The fusion of two energies had turned the lightning tribulation into a black hole.

The all-devouring might of this black hole made straight for the pool of water.

Just when it was about to touch.

Splash!

A man stood up from the pool.

Drenched in that sacred spring water, Tang Jie exuded astonishing light and radiance, as well as an aura that caused all life to flourish around him!

“Immortal Platform! Tang Jie ascended to Immortal Platform!” Xu Miaoran shouted.

As she was linked to Tang Jie, she could sense Tang Jie’s life force rapidly evolving, ascending to a higher plane.

This was a familiar feeling that she had already experienced once before and that she now was experiencing for a second time.

Immortal Platform!

Yes, Tang Jie had once more ascended to Immortal Platform!

Already possessing sufficient resources and cultivation, Tang Jie had only been lacking energy and soul to reach Immortal Platform.

Absorbing all that core energy in the battle with the Rootless Tree Ancestor had solved the problem of energy, but his Divine Soul had still been greatly lacking in divinity. But this had been solved after his contact with Holy Soul Water.

Nobody knew how much Holy Soul Water he had used, but it had instantly removed all the obstruction in his way to Immortal Platform, and Tang Jie, who had already overcome all previous thresholds, easily ascended.

As he was ascending, he mustered all his energy and pushed it toward the black hole.

An immense flood of energy surged toward the black hole.

Then he scowled and cursed, “Shit!”

Having ascended to Immortal, Tang Jie now had enough strength to resist the Heavenly Tribulation, but upon interacting with the Divine Spring dimension, the tribulation had somehow evolved. After becoming a black hole, its energy had soared, as if it had evolved along with Tang Jie.

Did the heavens really want him dead so badly?

With no other options, Tang Jie could only clench his teeth and send all his energy into the black hole.

The black hole swirled as it consumed Tang Jie’s energy, but as it devoured more and more, its burden grew greater and greater. Even then, it grew closer and closer, and Tang Jie could only try his best to hold it off.

The leaves of the Yellow Court World swayed, their branches shining as tens of thousands of believers prayed.

Tang Jie’s energy was soaring higher and higher.

“AAAAAH!” he howled.

Energy continued to flood into the terrifying black hole, and it finally began to shrink and fade.

Tang Jie sighed in relief.

His ascension to Earth Immortal was just about reaching its end, but he had fed all his energy to the black hole. Thus, even though he was now an Earth Immortal, he was unprecedentedly weak, his energy reserves bone-dry. Right now, even a Violet Palace expert could kill him, and he wouldn’t be able to revive.

Tang Chuan and Yiyi came over, taking over for Tang Jie and feeding energy into the black hole to hasten its demise. The lightning tribulation had already ended, so they could finally intervene.

As the black hole was about to shrink into nothingness, Tang Jie suddenly had an idea and said, “Stop.”

Everyone stopped and looked at Tang Jie.

“Miaoran, help me seal it. I need to study it.”

This black hole was the result of space being shattered, so spell arts could not seal it, only neutralize it. The Dao power of Space was the only thing capable of sealing it.

Xu Miaoran created a small subspace to hold the black hole. No energy existed in this subspace, as it was made from solely the Great Dao, which the black hole couldn’t devour. Thus, it would persist until more energy appeared for it to devour, after which it would vanish.

The spatial walls Xu Miaoran created were like transparent crystal, while the black hole in the center seemed like a bottomless abyss.

Holding this crystal, Xu Miaoran flew over to Tang Jie. “So?”

“By researching this, I might be able to develop a pretty good Immortal Art,” Tang Jie answered with a smile.

In the past, he had his avatar and the Twelve Great Daos, which gave him tools in his arsenal. But after Yu Cheng had run off with his avatar, his original body had much less at its disposal.

His current problem was that while his Heavenly Dao Realm and Yellow Court World were both incredibly powerful, they were both rather inconvenient to use.

As for regular moves, those were also lacking, consisting only of the Combat Emperor Catalog and the Sovereign Blade. These were both extremely strong, but they also had their limits. As creations of the Martial Lord, they both had the commonality of relying too much on strength, focusing on offense and lacking in defense. In addition, they lacked obvious effects against things like illusions and souls.

Put bluntly, they were purely physical attacks, formidable but limited in usage. They could neither completely utilize the attributes of Tang Jie’s perfect body, nor could they work on special targets.

Thus, Tang Jie needed to develop a powerful Immortal Art.

In the Nether Domain, he had developed the Evil Punishing Seal, which was an example of such. But the Evil Punishing Seal ultimately targeted ghosts and wasn’t terribly effective against other types of creatures.

So Tang Jie had a dire need for new powerful Immortal Art.

This black hole had given Tang Jie some inspiration on this front.

Ah, having no avatar and no Dao Arts is truly quite a pain!

Tang Jie inwardly grumbled.

Knowing Tang Jie’s purpose, Xu Miaoran handed over the “crystal” and rolled her eyes. “You end up summoning the Heavenly Tribulation when fighting? Can’t you just have a proper fight? It would make us worry a whole lot less.”

Tang Jie chuckled. “If I didn’t do that, there would be no disasters from which to find fortune, and I wouldn’t have gotten all this Holy Soul Water.”

He took out a jade cup, and with a wave, all of the Holy Soul Water flew into the cup, filling it up but not overflowing. This wasn’t because of any property of the cup, but because that was all the Holy Soul Water there was. The Divine Spring dimension only produced one drop every one hundred years. While it normally took the form of a pool of water, when it was truly gathered together, it was only enough to fill a cup.

“This is Holy Soul Water?” Xu Miaoran had naturally heard of this holy water as well, and her eyes twinkled when she spoke its name.

She was well aware of how difficult it was to refine the Divine Soul.

Xu Miaoran and Yiyi had gotten past countless thresholds over the years, but they were still stuck at refining their Divine Souls and were still unable to advance to Immortal Platform.

Didn’t this Holy Soul Water mean that a breakthrough was close at hand?

“Correct!” Tang Jie could see what Xu Miaoran was thinking. “With this Holy Soul Water, the difficulty of breakthrough will be at least halved.”

Lowering the difficulty by half didn’t mean ascending halfway to Immortal Platform.

Numerous Titans were often only a hair’s breadth away from ascension.

Put another way: lowering a college entrance examination’s required score by half would mean that many more people would be qualified to attend.

This would be enough for one to understand the significance of the Holy Soul Water for ascending to Immortal Platform.

Even Yun Tianlan couldn’t help but ask, “How much Holy Soul Water is there?”

Tang Jie replied, “Ancestor, relax. The Heavenly Rat Emperor has been dead for several thousand years, and considering that it considered this stuff its foundation of power and wouldn’t casually distribute it, there’s plenty to go around. I estimate that there’s enough for at least three people to use!”

“Only three?” Yun Tianlan sighed, and then he chuckled. “Ah, I’m getting greedy if I think three isn’t enough.”

The whale shark Fiend God asked, “This lowly one does not understand how Master calculated this. From what this lowly one understands, one only needs three drops of Holy Soul Water to refine the Divine Soul, and there seems to be at least thirty drops in that cup, so why does Master say that this is only enough for three people?”

“‘Only needs three drops’?” Tang Jie was startled.

He had said “three people” because he had used around ten drops to refine his Divine Soul, and he had used that amount as the standard. The whale shark’s information took him by surprise.

He then realized that he truly had made a mistake. His cultivation was different from others’, for he had a perfect body. A powerful Divine Soul was needed to control such a powerful Immortal body, so three drops of Holy Soul Water simply wasn’t enough. But others didn’t suffer from this same problem, which meant that three would be sufficient for them.

“So you’re saying that the Holy Soul Water here can create ten Earth Immortals?” Tang Chuan muttered.

“Perhaps even more,” Xu Miaoran said, folding her arms. “The Holy Soul Water can refine the Divine Soul, but it can also be made into medicines. Directly consuming it is somewhat of a waste. In addition, refining the Divine Soul can’t be done by entirely relying on medicine. You also have to put in your own effort. Some people are very good at cultivating their Divine Soul and only need a little help to break through, while others might need to take more medicine. You can’t just put everyone in the same bucket.”

Tang Jie’s eyes brightened. “Miaoran is right! If we make this into medicine and then calculate how everyone is progressing so that we can measure the dosage, we can make more people into Earth Immortals!”

It hadn’t been long since he had reached Violet Palace, and while he could use resources for the physical side, he had always been lacking when it came to cultivating the Divine Soul. As a result, he had ended up using almost the maximum amount of Holy Soul Water. But some Soul Projection cultivators had been cultivating for thousands of years and were only one step away from Immortal Platform, so all they needed was a push.

Moreover, if made into medicine, this cup of Holy Soul Water might be able to make even more Immortals than expected.

The more experts, the better, especially in their current circumstances.

This good news naturally had everyone elated.

This war against the Divine Spring Domain had been hugely profitable.

Looking up at the sky, they saw the Rosecloud Domain being pulled along by the Ning Beast and already beginning to devour the Divine Spring Domain.

Without any peak existences to resist, the Divine Spring Domain would be consumed even faster than the Blood River Domain, and a stronger domain would rise!
