Chapter 1075: The Decisive Battle (2)
Just because Yun Tianlan could create a formation with a wave of his hand didn’t mean that the giant fish was easy to deal with. If it were easy to deal with, he wouldn’t have needed to resort to such a complicated method.
Something that could resist a True Immortal’s attack possessed the power to endanger a True Immortal. This fiend was a peak-level existence, and even if it couldn’t beat Yun Tianlan, it could still pose a threat.
He had never imagined that this level of fiend would be found in the Blood River, let alone two of them, and he grimaced. As the second giant fish approached, Yun Tianlan’s eyes turned black and white, spinning like the Yin Yang diagram.
As his eyes turned, a vortex formed in the water, up and down were flipped, and Yun Tianlan and the giant fish inexplicably switched places. The second giant fish lost its target and ended up crashing into the first.
But this collision had a negligible effect on them, and they turned together and charged at Yun Tianlan, seemingly having made him their target.
“Beasts seeking death!” Yun Tianlan was getting angry.
He raised two fingers, from which motes of light flew out, soaring through the water like shooting stars. When they struck the giant fish, their tough hides finally failed, the motes of light piercing through and causing blood to gush forth.
But a moment later, the waters of the Blood River rushed in, instantly healing their wounds.
Everyone was stunned, and then they realized that the Lord of the Blood River must have intervened. The entire Blood River was his body, and the existence of these giant fish had to be linked to him somehow, which was why he could heal their injuries.
So long as they remained in the Blood River, unless they could kill the fish with one strike, they were essentially unkillable. As they realized this, a sudden wave of water surged through the river.
This giant wave was aimed at the Immortals, and there were countless crimson strings wriggling within the water, all of them small snakes. With the giant fish as precedent, the Immortals didn’t dare to underestimate the snakes, so they all acted in unison to push away the wave.
In the distance, Yun Tianlan and the two giant fish abruptly disappeared.
“Not good!” the Immortals shouted.
“It’s the Blood Teleport!” Ji Wenzhang shouted.
Blood Teleport was the Blood River Lord’s supreme secret art, allowing him to teleport anyone in the Blood River to any other part of the river.
Tang Jie was not at all surprised that Yun Tianlan had been teleported away.
Dividing and conquering the enemy was the ideal tactic for the weaker side, and he didn’t have some exclusive right over it.
But an existence on the level of Yun Tianlan couldn’t be teleported as one pleased. The Lord of the Blood River had to have paid an enormous price in order to do so, and had a formation’s assistance.
Even then, someone of Yun Tianlan’s power couldn’t have been teleported far.
Tang Jie suddenly realized what the two giant fish were for. They weren’t here to kill, but to delay Yun Tianlan.
With their tough bodies and unkillable nature, Yun Tianlan would probably be dealing with them for some time.
And nextโฆ
Tang Jie shouted, “Everyone, be careful! Blood River and the others are coming!”
With the dividing done, it was time for battle, and the Lord of the Blood River was bound to act once Yun Tianlan had been sent off.
A cackle resounded through the river.
With this laugh, six figures emerged: the Lord of the Blood River, Reverend Evil Cloud, the Gold Horn Immortal, the Eternal Life Demon Sovereign, the Murderous Buddha, and the Flame Celestial Sovereign.
Tang Jie gazed at the Flame Celestial Sovereign, and the Flame Celestial Sovereign looked back, his eyes burning with hatred.
Tang Jie smiled. “It seems you’ve found a way to restore your Divine Soul Origin.”
The Lord of the Blood River laughed. “Of course. We searched for one million souls and refined them into a Divine Soul Origin, after which we poured in our divine power. The Divine Soul Origin in your hands can no longer threaten Brother Hong.”
“A million human lives?” Tang Jie’s face darkened. “You would kill so many just to break free of my control? I was wrong. I should have never spared you.”
He produced the Flame Celestial Sovereign’s Divine Soul Origin and crushed it, upon which the Flame Celestial Sovereign clutched his head and screamed. Though he was free of its control, Tang Jie destroying that soul origin still did some damage to him.
His eyes spitting flame, he glared at Tang Jie and shouted, “I’ll kill you, Tang Jie!”
“You’re not worthy.” The Flame Celestial Sovereign had ceased to be an opponent in Tang Jie’s eyes long ago, and he casually thrust out a finger.
Although he had given the Sovereign Blade to the original body, he had a Slaughter Dao Art, so this finger was infused with such power that it wasn’t far off from the Sovereign Blade. This one finger gave the illusion of a bloodthirsty sword.
The Blood River Lord roared, and the river waters transformed into hundreds of shields to block Tang Jie’s attack. “You’re mine!”
Without Yun Tianlan here, Tang Jie was the strongest, and as the strongest Earth Immortal on his side, the Blood River Lord was the only one who could take him on.
The other Immortals also began to battle.
The Rosecloud side had the advantage in numbers, but Evil Cloud and company seemed unconcerned. The Eternal Life Demon Sovereign chuckled and took out a black wooden statue which depicted a three-eyed, eight-armed creature standing atop a mountain of corpses.
The Eternal Life Demon Sovereign threw out the wooden statue, which grew to the size of a mountain and began to rumble, black smoke pouring out of it.
Then the wooden statue came to life, throwing its head back and roaring, “RAAA! Who dares summon me?”
It cast its gaze around the Blood River and turned its gaze onto the Eternal Life Demon Sovereign, upon which it let out a gasp of surprise. “So it is the one who inherited the legacy this one left behind when this one ventured into the positive plane. I did not think you would become an Immortal. Junior, it seems like you’ve run into trouble and finally become willing to summon me, the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon? Hahaha!”
It brazenly laughed.
The Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon!
The Immortals were all alarmed by this name.
The Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon was one of the infamous 99 Demon Lords of the Primordial Fog Domain. Nobody had expected the Eternal Life Demon Sovereign to summon him, even if it was just a projection.
This wooden statue left behind by the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon carried a sliver of his will, which could link to the Primordial Fog Domain, allowing the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon to project his will and descend upon the statue.
This was a habit of Primordial Fog demons. During each invasion, those Archdevils would think of ways to leave behind their traces or legacies in the positive plane before returning. One reason was to create demons, and this was how the first demon cultivators had come to be. By inheriting the legacy of the demons, they would become chaotic and ruthless, as well as accomplices for the next Primordial Fog invasion. The second reason was that if necessary, they could descend as avatars through their successors.
The Eternal Life Demon Sovereign had inherited the legacy left by the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon. Besides his demonic arts, he had also left behind this black statue. When this statue was offered up, the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon would sense it and project his will onto it.
But while the Eternal Life Demon Sovereign had inherited the Archdevil’s legacy, he was no fool and knew that nothing good would come from summoning an Archdevil. Though he was a demon cultivator, he was still a native human, which was fundamentally different from the demons of the Primordial Fog Domain, so he had never used it, keeping it as a trump card for the Blood River Domain’s Demon Gate faction, akin to the human race’s Jin Tianya.
This was the choice of many demon cultivators of the Great Stellar Chiliocosm.
The Primordial Fog demons didn’t mind. So long as the fuses had been planted, they would be lit one day. Such was the temptation of demons. Even though one knew that one couldn’t accept it, reality would force one to take that step.
Today, the Eternal Life Demon Sovereign was simply reenacting the deeds of countless other demon cultivators throughout history.
As the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon’s avatar descended, a black energy instantly stained the entire river bottom black.
Huang Wuji snorted. “Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon, if you came personally, I might have been afraid, but this is just an avatar, nothing to be afraid of!”
He took out the Measure Heaven Ruler and swung it at the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon.
(TN: The author forgot that the Measure Heaven Ruler was taken back by the Heaven’s Equal Sect.)
“Oh?” This Demon Lord glanced at Huang Wuji and sneered. “Ignorant fool, do you really think this one left behind a sliver of demonic will and descended as an avatar simply to fight with you?”
He blocked Huang Wuji’s attack with his eight arms, but his body swayed. Although he was a Demon Lord, this avatar had only a hundredth of his actual power, which was a little lacking when dealing with the full power of an Earth Immortal.
The Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon casually blew a cloud of black energy at Huang Wuji.
This black energy was full of corrosive power, and Huang Wuji didn’t dare to take it directly. He hastily retreated, and as the black energy mixed with the blood waters, the Blood River began to become a river of decay.
But the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon didn’t use this opportunity to attack, instead turning around and thrusting his arms out, stabbing into the void. He pulled and shouted, “Open!”
He tore a massive hole in space.
Purple-black demonic energy poured out of the fissure.
“Primordial Fog Violet Energy! It’s Primordial Fog Violet Energy!” the Immortals called out in alarm. Even Reverend Evil Cloud and the other Blood River Immortals cried out.
With only this avatar, the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon had torn open a fissure linking the positive plane and the Primordial Fog Domain, creating a passage. Even a True Immortal like Yun Tianlan couldn’t do this, so a weakened avatar of the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon shouldn’t have been able to either. But things were different if he had made arrangements as far back as the last invasion for this.
Of course, since the Primordial Fog Calamity had yet to arrive, this passage was temporary and would disappear eventually. But it would last long enough for numerous demons to charge out and turn the entire world upside down.
Sure enough, the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon laughed and said, “Go, my children. Conquer, kill! Take everything here and offer it to me!”
Demons charged out of the fissure.
