Apocalypse Villainess? Nah, I'm Nice

Chapter 489 - 345: Breaching the City (Part 2)

After weighing his options, he decided to stay for the time being, intending to expose and eliminate the mastermind behind all this.

He just never expected that person to be Leo Joyce!

Leo Joyce, who had clearly died, yet had now mysteriously returned from the dead!

When Leo Joyce died, he had been right there, acting as a guard at Keith Preston’s request. He had even personally checked Leo Joyce’s breathing and heartbeat, confirming that there were no signs of life.

Yet now, he was standing before him, alive and well.

Claire Chapman was beyond surprised, but when he remembered that the zombie in the civilian residential area was most likely Leo Joyce’s "masterpiece," a profound sense of disgust welled up from the bottom of his heart.

With that thought, he launched his Flying Knife at Leo Joyce, who had just leaped from the car, without another moment’s hesitation!

’No matter what, I’ll deal with him first!’

The unmasked left side of Leo Joyce’s face was a pale, bluish-white. He grabbed the roof of the car with a reverse grip and, while deftly dodging the Flying Knife, vaulted to the other side of the vehicle. His gaze swept over the Superpower Users already engaged in combat with his subordinates. Realizing they must be from Bloodfall, he couldn’t help but frown.

"Claire Chapman! You have time to fight me here? Don’t you know that hundreds of Zombies are attacking the Southern Army’s camp?"

Realizing what he meant, Claire Chapman was filled with uncontrollable rage. "You scum! To think you were once the City Lord, yet you’d resort to such methods!"

Leo Joyce sneered. "I’m not that capable! That idiot Maisie Joyce wants to be City Lord, and this is the disaster she’s brought upon us! If it were me, do you think I would have given the enemy such an opportunity?!"

Claire Chapman’s attacks intensified, his Flying Knife lunging at Leo Joyce from every conceivable angle.

He decided he was done wasting words.

’No matter how silver-tongued Leo Joyce is, he’s definitely involved with the zombies!’

Leo Joyce dodged left and right, evading the Flying Knife with extreme difficulty.

His Superpower Rank was no lower than Claire Chapman’s, but his Fire Ability was not very effective against the Flying Knife. Even if a tongue of flame could block the knife for a moment, his opponent’s Control Skill was so flexible that the blade would immediately change direction and attack again.

He unleashed a dragon of fire to circle in front of him, finally managing to keep the Flying Knife at bay for the moment. However, this forced him into a purely defensive stance.

The battle reached a stalemate, and Leo Joyce grew increasingly frustrated.

Claire Chapman, on the other hand, was worried about the zombies. He knew that if the First Division couldn’t hold them off, the situation would rapidly deteriorate and spiral out of control.

’What’s the next step?!’

Both men, without consulting each other, were contemplating this very question.

Just then, a tremendous crash echoed from the nearby Citadel.

The surrounding wall had collapsed!

Maisie Joyce, Keith Preston, Colin Koenig, and everyone else from inside the Citadel came pouring out, engaging in a fierce battle with the soldiers of the Second Division.

Keith Preston’s voice boomed as he questioned him, "Victor Caldwell! Have you considered the consequences of betraying the city? Are you going to get everyone in the Second Division killed for your own selfish ambition? Stop now, and the City Lord and I can let this go. If you continue, the only path for you is death!"

Hearing this, Victor Caldwell wavered.

He knew it was likely a temporary offer to placate him, and that they would settle the score later, but when he thought of the zombies at the camp, he felt he couldn’t possibly bear such a heavy responsibility.

At that moment, Leo Joyce gritted his teeth and said to Claire Chapman, "I told you, I didn’t do this! If you don’t believe me, then how about a truce? Let’s work together to kill the zombies first! If we keep delaying like this, none of us will make it out alive!"

’Rather than fighting Claire Chapman to the death here, I should try a different approach. If we really go kill zombies, I might just find a way to make these people and the zombies all perish together!’ Leo Joyce thought.

Claire Chapman had no desire to continue tangling with him either.

"Fine! Then go order Victor Caldwell and his men right now. Everyone is to go wipe out the zombies. No more infighting!"

As he spoke, he recalled his Flying Knife, his eyes fixed intently on Leo Joyce.

Under his watchful gaze, Leo Joyce retracted his superpower and turned toward the Citadel.

His appearance stunned Maisie Joyce and the others.

However, aside from Colin Koenig, who showed more obvious delight, everyone else’s feelings were decidedly mixed. And when he announced that hundreds of zombies were besieging the First Division’s camp and that everyone had to fight the zombies before dealing with anything else, their expressions immediately turned grim, especially Keith Preston’s.

He gave Leo Joyce a deep, long look, then turned to Maisie Joyce. "You take some people to The Guard’s headquarters and direct efforts to quell the riots in the city. I’m returning to camp to provide support!"

"Okay!" Maisie Joyce pressed her lips together firmly, then added with gravity, "Be careful!"
