Apocalypse Supermarket: My Four Overpowered Husbands Wontstop Hoarding

Chapter 60 Her sanctuary

Chapter 60: Chapter 60 Her sanctuary

The portal suddenly opened at the entrance of the veranda, and a powerful gust of wind rushed through the surroundings with enough force to knock down almost everything in its path. The two large vases of plants positioned at the edges of the veranda didn’t stand a chance. They toppled over immediately, crashing against the marble floor as leaves and broken pieces scattered everywhere.

The violent wind continued to howl around the place until, finally, the vehicle slowly emerged from the dark portal, carrying the survivors away from the death trap they had barely escaped.

The moment the vehicle landed, it hit the ground with enough force to jolt everyone’s bodies at once. The entire team was thrown slightly against their seats as though a sudden current of electricity had passed through them.

For several seconds, nobody spoke.

Then they all released a soft breath of relief.

They had escaped.

Once again, they had somehow survived another death trap that should have been impossible to escape from.

The first person to rush out of the front seat was Luna. She didn’t want to spend even one more second inside that cramped vehicle.

The moment her feet touched the cool marble floor, she sighed deeply.

Freedom.

Home.

Her destination.

After everything she had gone through, after all the attacks and dangers she had faced, she had finally made it back.

Most ordinary people wouldn’t have survived even half of what she had been through, but Luna had somehow managed to push through every obstacle that came her way.

She turned around and stared at the boys still sitting inside the vehicle.

"Are you all not coming out of there, or do you want to sleep right where you are?"

Her words immediately snapped them out of their daze.

The system was already preparing to take the vehicle away, and the moment the boys realized what was happening, they all scrambled out through the doors in a rush.

"That was cruel, Luna! You almost made us vanish with that thing!"

The complaint came just as the vehicle disappeared.

One second, it was there.

The next, there was absolutely nothing.

It vanished so completely that anyone who hadn’t witnessed it would have assumed there had never been a vehicle there in the first place.

Ethan stared at the empty space in disbelief before turning his attention toward Luna.

"Where did it go?"

Luna merely glanced at him.

"You don’t need to know. It doesn’t concern you, so forget about it and think about something else."

Her casual dismissal made Ethan frown.

That answer only made him more curious.

There was obviously something strange about Luna and the things she possessed. Back in the city, she had repeatedly pulled all kinds of items from that tiny bag of hers. Weapons, supplies, equipment—things that should have been impossible to fit inside something so small.

Now an entire vehicle had disappeared right in front of them.

How was he supposed to pretend he wasn’t curious?

"I know this sounds crazy," Ethan began, pointing toward the bag, "but it’s your bag, right? That’s where it disappeared to. Back in the city, you kept bringing things out of that tiny bag. That’s the only explanation I can think of."

He sounded hopeful, as though he had finally solved one of Luna’s biggest secrets.

Unfortunately for him, nobody seemed interested in entertaining his theory.

Kai simply yawned.

"I think it’s better if you just pretend you know what happened."

Ethan stared at him.

Kai rubbed his stomach.

"As for me, I really want to eat."

His priorities were apparently much simpler.

Food.

That was all Kai cared about at that moment.

He then turned toward Adrian, who looked completely exhausted after everything they had gone through.

"Thanks, dude. You saved all of us. I don’t know if Luna is going to thank you, but on behalf of the rest of us, thanks for risking your health to get us here."

Adrian smiled faintly at his words.

Luna, who had been standing nearby, heard everything.

Her fingers immediately went to the back of her head as she scratched it awkwardly.

She didn’t know how to approach Adrian and say thank you.

It should have been simple.

A normal person would simply walk over and say it.

But Luna couldn’t remember the last time she had genuinely thanked someone for something. The words felt strangely unfamiliar on her tongue.

So instead, she stood there pretending to be interested in the surroundings.

Adrian slowly walked over and placed one hand against one of the pillars supporting the veranda.

He looked around carefully.

Only then did he truly begin to appreciate how much work had gone into the place.

The house had clearly been reinforced.

The roof looked almost metallic, but unlike ordinary metal, it didn’t seem to trap heat beneath it. Around the upper section of the veranda, just before the roof began, was another strange structure that resembled a massive umbrella.

It stretched outward and provided an additional layer of protection over the area.

Adrian’s gaze shifted toward the main entrance.

The entire doorway had been surrounded by an electrified net.

Small sparks of electricity shimmered across it, making it obvious that anyone who attempted to force their way through would have a very unpleasant surprise waiting for them.

Even the walls weren’t ordinary concrete.

They appeared to have been constructed with an extremely hard material that looked almost like marble.

Adrian’s lips slowly curved into a smile.

At least one of them had prepared properly.

He didn’t know how long their supplies would last or whether the defenses could withstand everything the apocalypse might throw at them, but something told him Luna knew exactly what she was doing.

For the first time since joining her, he realized just how fortunate he was.

Perhaps being recruited by Luna had been a blessing after all.

This place wasn’t simply a house.

It was a headquarters.

A fortress disguised as a mansion.

And its location made it even better.

The building seemed to be far away from the areas where ordinary humans still lived. Tall trees surrounded the property on both sides, forming a natural barrier that concealed the structure from anyone passing nearby.

From the outside, it would be difficult to even realize there was a building hidden beyond the trees.

Rowan, who had been standing beside Adrian, stared around with open fascination.

"So cool, Luna. You really went all out for this."

Luna simply nodded.

She stood among them, looking around as though she were seeing the place for the first time herself.

Ethan, however, couldn’t believe his eyes.

He had thought Luna was exaggerating when she claimed her home was safe.

He had even wondered what place outside the safe zone could possibly be safer when all kinds of terrifying abominations were roaming around.

But now that he was standing there, he understood.

This wasn’t merely a safe house.

It was almost a fortress.

A giant fortress disguised as a beautiful mansion.

"Miles!"

Luna suddenly called out.

Her voice echoed through the compound.

Everyone immediately turned toward the house.

A small bell-like sound suddenly rang, making the entire group tense.

Then they noticed the recorder mounted against the wall.

Almost immediately, the electrified fence began to open.

The main door followed.

A man stepped outside.

His hair was dyed and neatly styled, and he looked surprisingly well-groomed for someone living in the middle of an apocalyptic world.

Even more shocking was the fact that he looked healthier than before.

Compared to the thin and exhausted appearance most people had developed because of the lack of food and constant danger, Miles seemed to have gained some weight.

Luna noticed it immediately.

Her eyes slowly traveled from his head to his feet.

"Feeding so well, I see. You’re really making the most out of the situation."

Miles froze.

His eyes widened.

For a moment, he looked as though he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

Luna was alive.

She had returned.

After failing to see her on the first day and then the second, he had already begun imagining the worst.

He had feared that something terrible had happened to his mistress.

And now she was standing right there in front of him.

The shock nearly made him fall apart.

Luna stared at him for another second before speaking.

"Close your mouth a bit. I’m afraid you’re making way for flies to enter."

Miles immediately snapped his mouth shut.

He bowed his head.

"Ah! Mistress Luna, you’re back! I apologize for coming out late. I was asleep."

"Of course you were."

Luna shook her head and began walking toward the entrance.

The boys followed behind her carefully.

Even though they were exhausted, their eyes continued scanning the surroundings for any possible threat.

They weren’t going to relax just because they had reached Luna’s home.

Not after everything they had experienced.

Once they entered the house, however, they were met with another surprise.

The sitting room had been almost completely finished.

The sight left most of them speechless.

The room was spacious and beautifully constructed, with enough furniture and decoration to make it feel less like a survival shelter and more like an actual home.

Ethan slowly looked around.

"This is so beautiful. It’s like we’re in a palace."

Kai had already seen part of the place before, but the room had been unfinished during his previous visit.

Now, everything looked completely different.

He glanced toward Miles.

"Did you do all this?"

"Yep."

Miles smiled proudly.

"It was me."

Luna nodded, seemingly satisfied with his work.

She glanced toward the staircase before turning back to the others.

"We should all go take a bath."

The boys looked at her.

Luna continued without hesitation.

"Choose any room you want. After that, we’re coming back here to talk. I have a few rules I need to lay down since we’re going to be living together."

Her gaze swept over all of them.

"And before that, go get those stinking clothes off your bodies."

Kai immediately looked down at himself.

He sniffed his shirt.

His expression changed.

"Okay... she’s right."

Luna, however, was already making her way toward the staircase.

She slowly placed one hand on the railing and began climbing toward her room.

Her exhaustion was obvious, but there was still a faint confidence in every step.
