Chapter 47 Stranded Iv
Chapter 47: Chapter 47 Stranded Iv
It reached a point where the sunlight could no longer reach the inside of the building, forcing Luna to pull out two flaming torches from her handbag. The flames immediately illuminated the dark hallway, revealing the cracked walls and broken furniture scattered around them. Handing one torch to the boys, she kept the other for herself.
"Where are the remaining three?" Kai asked, stretching out his hand, hoping she’d hand him another.
"Nope. Manage that one."
The moment she finished speaking, Rowan snatched the torch before anyone else could, using it to carefully scan their surroundings. The others exchanged helpless glances before accepting their fate.
Their walk continued in silence until Luna suddenly stopped in front of a room she found strangely appealing.
"We’re using this one." She pointed at the door. "There’s a bathroom inside, so I’m taking my bath first. You people are staying here while I do that. Any objections?"
None of them answered. They simply looked at one another before Rowan stepped forward instead of Luna. Grabbing the doorknob, he slowly pushed the door open while remaining alert for any danger.
The moment the door swung open, he froze.
"What..."
A fresh scent drifted out of the room, completely different from the damp, rotten smell filling the rest of the building.
"This isn’t right." Rowan frowned. "It’s too bright... too colorful. It’s almost like someone is actually living here."
Keeping his guard up, he cautiously stepped inside, inspecting every corner before signaling the others.
Luna entered first, followed by Adrian, then Kai and Ethan.
The room looked completely untouched.
Its walls were painted in a mixture of soft blue and white, making the place feel peaceful despite the ruined world outside. Everything was spotless, almost sparkling under the torchlight.
"Okay... now this is disturbing." Ethan slowly looked around. "Maybe we should’ve searched the rest of the building first because this doesn’t look like we’re alone."
Everyone silently agreed.
The world outside had fallen apart. Water had flooded almost everything they had seen on their journey here.
So how was this room untouched?
"But this doesn’t make sense." Luna folded her arms thoughtfully. "Wasn’t this whole place surrounded by water? This room shouldn’t be like this... unless it somehow escaped the flooding, which shouldn’t even be possible."
Her words settled over the room as everyone began thinking.
Luna wasn’t going to lie.
Whoever owned this place—whether a man or a woman—had incredible taste.
The decorations were beautiful without being excessive. The curtains matched perfectly with the walls, while the furniture looked expensive despite their simple designs.
Then her eyes landed on the bed.
The bed was made.
Perfectly.
Kai’s eyes immediately lit up as he took a step toward it, only for Luna to glare at him.
"Not with that filthy body. Can’t you see the sheets were changed?"
Kai immediately stopped, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck before stepping away.
Adrian couldn’t wrap his head around it.
Who would have the time to neatly make a bed in the middle of the apocalypse?
It definitely wasn’t one of those creatures roaming outside. They barely had enough intelligence to chase prey, let alone clean a room.
Which meant...
A human had survived here.
But how many survivors were left?
"Alright." Luna pointed at the bed without hesitation. "I’m taking this bed. If anyone is sharing it with me, you have to bathe first and change into clean clothes. I’m sure most of you brought spare clothes. I’ll provide the food. Everything else is your responsibility."
Nobody argued.
Ethan almost protested before remembering he didn’t even have spare clothes.
Ever since entering the safe zone, he’d been wearing the same threadbare shirt and painfully tight shorts that had become more uncomfortable with every passing day.
Changing wasn’t an option for him.
"This is reckless." Rowan remained firm. "We don’t know how dangerous staying here is. We’ve already identified a potential threat. The smart thing is to leave."
He didn’t like this place.
Not one bit.
Something about the room unsettled him. Even the pleasant scent lingering in the air made him feel strangely nauseous, his head growing heavier the longer he stayed inside.
"I can see you’re still full of energy." Ethan casually walked past him before dropping onto one of the couches. "But I’m exhausted. If Luna says we’re staying here, then I’m staying."
He leaned his head back against the couch, his silver hair falling over his forehead. Even with dirt covering parts of his face, the man somehow still looked annoyingly handsome.
Kai clicked his tongue.
"This isn’t fair. I’m covered in dirt too, yet somehow I still look like I lost a fight with a garbage truck. I swear the Creator was playing favorites on creation day."
With a sigh, he walked deeper into the room before dropping onto the floor near one corner.
Adrian followed soon after, leaving only Rowan standing with the enormous backpack hanging from his shoulders.
Kai stared at it.
"Isn’t that thing uncomfortable? Or do you just enjoy torturing yourself?"
He pointed toward the door.
"You coming or not? Because I want to lock this place already."
Seeing nobody willing to support his decision, Rowan finally gave up. He glanced one last time into the dark corridor outside before stepping into the room.
The door shut behind him.
Click.
The latch locked into place immediately.
The torchlight continued dancing across the room, making it feel surprisingly warm.
"Oh, damn..." Luna let out a satisfied gasp. "This place is amazing. Whoever owns it deserves a kiss from me."
Without another thought, she slipped off her outer gown and let it fall onto the floor, leaving only her bra and shorts on before walking toward the bed with her handbag.
As she walked, her hips naturally swayed.
Kai’s eyes followed almost immediately.
So did Adrian’s.
Both men stared shamelessly until Rowan smacked each of them on the back of the head.
"Focus, boys. Don’t get distra—"
His own sentence died halfway.
His eyes wandered toward Luna as well.
"...That’s... some ass."
His eyes nearly bulged out.
"How are you even this curvy? I seriously never noticed."
Kai instantly coughed.
"Rowan... maybe you should keep some thoughts inside your head."
Luna didn’t even stop walking.
She merely shrugged.
"Hmm. You know I don’t mind. Besides..." she glanced at them over her shoulder with a teasing smile, "it’s not like this is your first time seeing me dressed like this. Look all you want."
She smirked.
"Looking is free."
Her hips continued swaying as she reached the bathroom door.
"But touching?"
She chuckled softly.
"That’s another story."
She stepped inside before looking back one final time.
"Don’t miss me too much, boys."
Click.
The bathroom door locked behind her.
Silence settled over the room.
The expressions on the boys’ faces were priceless.
Kai rubbed his tangled hair before his eyes landed on several loaves of bread and a few cans of sardines neatly arranged beside the bed.
"So... I guess that’s dinner."
He remembered Luna stopping by the bedside earlier.
That must’ve been what she was doing before heading into the bathroom.
"I don’t know about the rest of you," Kai continued while stretching lazily, "but I have zero interest in exploring this place anymore. I’m completely worn out. Today has been one disaster after another. Anyone who still wants to leave can go by themselves."
Ethan nodded immediately.
"I’m staying."
His eyes shifted toward Rowan and Adrian.
The two exchanged looks before rolling their eyes.
"Whatever." Adrian shrugged. "This place is good enough for tonight. But let’s not forget that someone obviously lives here. We shouldn’t let our guard down."
Rowan silently agreed.
Without another word, he pulled his gun closer and kept his eyes fixed on the locked door, ready for anything—or anyone—that might appear.
Yet despite his vigilance, one image refused to leave his mind.
Luna.
Not as she was now...
But dancing in a tiny bikini with that same teasing smile on her face.
Before he realized it, the corner of his lips lifted into a helpless smile.
