Alex gazed the drizzle hitting his apartment window. The wake of acid rain leaving thin threads of black ooze. 'Fucking disgusting,' he thought. God rays pierced through the greenish clouds; black flakes floating in the air like ash. A younger mind might even call that sight pretty. To him, it was only an alien sight; memories of blue skies and the silver lines of clouds began to surface, of better times.
A notification on all of his devices interrupted his wanderlust.
〔 Package ready for pickup. 〕
With a groan and a lot of effort, he got up from his seat in front of the computer. 'Fucking painful.' That was the only thought that filled his mind; it would be easier to name what wasn't hurting. Reaching the age of one hundred and then some was nothing if not painful.
It took him a long time to go downstairs to pick up his pain medications. He could have easily asked for them to be delivered to his front door instead of walking. Unfortunately, this was the only exercise his aging body got these days—the only thing that could motivate it to move.
'Yay, drugs. At least the little delivery cart will wait without complaint.'
After a few agonizing minutes, he finally arrived at the first floor. He pushed the front door open with a grunt and a buzz from his mechanical joints. Sadly, the weird numbness of metal and composites against wrinkled skin was something no drug could remove. Thankfully, the stink of burnt plastic and tainted water was enough to make him forget the pain, if only for a moment.
A little wheeled robot with the pharmacy logo was patiently waiting for him on the sidewalk. As soon as he came close to it, a compartment opened for him.
'I'm still creeped out by how fast this stupid thing can detect who I am. No facial recognition, RFID, or other biometrics. My old walk is all it needs to know it's me.'
Just as he reached down to pick up his package, the screeching sound of tires losing friction reached his ears. The slimy sediment left by the rotten rain was worse than black ice; any vehicle—self-driven or not—would have a hard time keeping traction.
'Oh fuck me—' was the last thought he had before being reduced to paste by the might of a semi truck.
— — —
Like waking from a short nap, he became aware in an instant. He did not know how much time had passed or where he was. Before he could begin to process anything, a sudden feeling of euphoria washed over him. 'Nothing hurts!' It had been a really long time since his mind had felt like this. When he took pain medication, he became numb, and even on the days when the aches of age were at a minimum, his mind was slowly getting foggier, slower. Thanks to the advancements in medicine, this process had been slowed down, but there was no medicine or bioware that could beat time.
He looked down at his body but saw nothing—no arms or legs. Nothing. As if his consciousness was all he was. 'Huh… Well, that explains the lack of pain.'
"Oh! G—d, good, g—"
The voice of a man came from behind his awareness (him lacking a head and all). He reflexively turned around, and there he found the owner of that voice. A most mundane man welcomed his mind-sight, for lack of a better word to describe how he was perceiving this man.
"Hmm… ~Hello there?" he skeptically asked. His voice came from where his mouth would be if he had one.
"Hello there, dear traveler."
"Where… are we?" Alex asked while 'looking' around. It was a weird experience. As if the place they were in manifested itself the moment he wanted to know where he was, before the words were even spoken.
They were standing on a dark reflective surface. An unknown night sky filled with a beautiful galaxy spiraling like a cyclone—something that would take eons to happen. However, it did not feel artificial like a desktop background. Somehow, deep inside, he knew that that shit was real.
"My name is 'Assigner of-.' You died, and your soul chose this place as its afterlife. Yes, souls are real. No, this is not the only afterlife. No, we are not 'Gods,' even if from your perspective it might look like it."
The man continued speaking as he began to walk. Alex's awareness seemed to follow him on its own. His steps made no sound, but from the rapid movement of the background going past them, it looked and felt as if they were moving several times faster than light, already violating most of his understanding of reality. This sudden realization seemed to give pause to the man, allowing Alex to speak.
"Did you upload my mind to some kind of server or something? I did sign up for some shady shit."
The man took a moment to think; his answer came before long. "Hmm… No. This is not a construct of artificial origin." He took another pause; his body language told Alex that the man was thinking about his next sentence, so he did not interrupt.
"Your home planet, Earth… was inside its own Realm… Universe. There are others like it; we are in a place in between. There are many words you have that come close to describing it; unfortunately, none are accurate. This is a place in between physical existences. Between lives."
As the man continued speaking and walking, they came across another. It was a tall, muscular man who was hunched over an anvil. In one hand he held pliers that clasped a flaming ball; in the other he held a hammer. After a moment, the smith lowered his tool. It looked like a simple task, but it felt like the hands of a giant were moving something of unimaginable might.
The hammer struck the flaming ball, and for a moment the background flickered, as if a video was moved back and forward. All the stars and the swirling galaxies shifted as one. It produced no sound, and yet it was as if reality itself dampened the shockwave of his strike.
Alex got closer. He could see how the flaming ball did not deform. The man smiled at Alex, then nodded before continuing, striking over and over again. His work was beautiful. Soon it was revealed what he was working on: it was a world, a planet. A blue and green marble not unlike Earth before the heat wars.
Mr. World-Smith was unbothered by Alex's presence.
"You said you are not gods, but…" Aizel nodded with his mind toward the man's creation, and Assigner of- seemed to get his meaning.
"No, we aren't. I did say that it might look like it from your perspective. And no, Earth was not made by us; worlds can be created artificially like that one, or naturally by chance. And before you ask, we do not know what kind of world Earth falls into. Or if it has an overseer, administrator, or God…"
Alex gave the man, Assigner of-, a questioning 'look.' How he could do that without a face was another mystery, but before he could ask anything, the man continued speaking.
"This might be a better analogy… Think of reality itself like an office building. Earth exists in the lowest levels of said building, and we are on another floor, much higher. We do not know or care what happens in most of the other levels, be it above or below. All we know of your realm comes from a single… microscope; this microscope allows us to look into the life of Earth, and from that we make educated guesses. But if there is another… 'World-smith,' administrators, or even gods… we do not know, for it is not important for our purposes."
How Mr. Assigner of- had taken the handle Alex gave to Mr. World-Smith was beyond him. However, he was more curious about the other words the man had said. "And what is that purpose?" Alex asked.
"Oh, that we have many! Some, like the 'world-smith,' create worlds. Some administrate worlds. And others even create life!" Assigner of- suddenly got really excited about his own explanation. "My own purpose is to collect interesting souls, like yours, and as my name says, I assign them to other realms where they can be useful."
'Explains his name?'
Assigner of- resumed walking while explaining things to him.
'The fuck did I smoke?' was all Alex could think. He tried to remember, but it seemed that his last memory was that of the truck using him as a stopping ram. He tried holding his breath and other techniques he had used in the past to wake up from lucid dreaming. But nothing worked. If anything, this felt more real than his daily life—as if he was young again, before his mind got all foggy because of old age and his overreliance on medications. This seemed to be noticed by Assigner of- as he became aware of the tsunami of information.
"Sorry, I got carried away…" Assigner of- said with awkwardness in his voice as he scratched his head in embarrassment.
"So… what now?" Alex asked. "Assuming this is all real…"
"Oh yes, yes. Earth is a fascinating world! It's a never-ending well of creativity. The souls that come from your world and others like it are always so useful!"
"Useful?" These 'people' could create worlds, for fuck's sake. What would a bald primate with violent tendencies from Earth be useful for in this man's eyes?
"Yes! Very. From 'heroes' who clean up others' messes, to inventors who push stagnated worlds forward. Oh, and the always most entertaining to watch!"
That last part gave Alex pause. Heroes and inventors he could grasp. However, at the mention of entertainment, all he could think of was a divine quest filled with hardships and plot points. Or even worse, a reality show for these beings.
"Entertainment?" Alex fearfully asked.
"Oh yes, but don't worry. Your soul was well screened by me, and your assignment is something that you might like. You can always say no and continue onward… Regardless, we have taken a lot of your time already, so please come."
Assigner of- picked up the pace. Soon they arrived at a table with a planet the size of a basketball floating above it. An old man was sitting away from it, looking at a large monitor.
"See what I mean?" Assigner of- excitedly asked. "These constructs were ideas that your world came up with. It's a truly fascinating way to display information without overloading the senses."
"Assigner. Did you find someone good for me?" the old man asked without looking at them.
"I think so, yes." Assigner of- replied.
The old man stood from his desk and seemingly appeared before Alex. He gazed into Alex's very existence for a moment before addressing Assigner of-.
"His soul is close to deteriorating. You should have brought him faster!" the old man said. He had a couple of round soldering glasses on top of his head, a white lab robe, a pair of shorts with slippers on his feet. And interestingly enough, a T-shirt with bath ducks, hand soap, and shower heads printed all over it.
"He is not even halfway there." Assigner of- waved dismissively.
"He's from Earth, right? They understand this kind of stuff very fast… Thanks anyway, you may go."
"It was my pleasure to meet you. You are in 'Deez Nerd's' care now. And remember: you can always say no." Assigner of- disappeared, and Alex turned to the old man.
"Hi, you may address me as 'Deez Nerd.' No. I am not from Earth. Yes, that is my chosen name. Now, I have a job you might like." Deez Nerd did not wait for an answer and just motioned him toward the world floating over the table and began explaining.
"This world's name is 'Geas.' It's a naturally occurring world capable of life, whose evolution was guided by another." He waved dismissively as if it were something unimportant before continuing. "Right now, my job—or rather hobby—is to create a 'System.' The idea was taken from Earth's fiction. It is a rather interesting way of wielding what you might call magic."
Alex was about to interrupt and ask something about that, but Deez Nerd addressed it right away.
"Since you are not the first one from a lower realm that came here, I know what you might be thinking. Yes. 'Magic' is real. At least for some worlds that are in higher realms than the one you come from. The simple way to explain it is that the conditions for life on your realm are not the 'end-all be-all' for it." He gave Alex a brief pause to process the information, then continued.
"The higher you go on the realms, the more a mind has power over matter. Geas is in a sweet spot where the mind can influence matter given enough help; this is where I and others like me come in. On higher floors, our meddling is seen as divine, unwelcome, or not even needed. But here, we can indirectly interfere with it for some interesting results."
Alex raised his metaphorical eyebrow at Deez Nerd. There were too many questions that he wanted to ask—like the why's and how's, or what those 'interesting results' might imply. Deez Nerd, seeing how Alex did not ask something right away, chose to continue his verbal diarrhea.
"Geas' system is mostly done and operational. Geas is not a world that is used for anything other than to test this system; there are many other systems and worlds where we test them, and even ones that are fully operational. So you do not have to worry about 'fucking it up.' The world, that is, as another one of your kind said. Become a demon lord. Make a harem. Be a farmer. I do not give a fuck what you do on or with it. I have no mission or quest for you to follow, only a job offer."
Deez Nerd gave Alex a creepy smile, as if he already knew that Alex would say yes. Combined with the increasingly foul language that Deez Nerd was using, it left him stunned. This prompted Deez Nerd to continue.
'I guess Earth's "vocabulary" is contagious?'
"You are an old soul—like, stupidly old for your world's standards anyway—and have acquired a myriad of Earth's sweet knowledge throughout your life. I want you to go down there and 'test' this system. If anyone is going to break it, it's an Earthling, and what an Earthling you are!… Were."
"What, like look for 'bugs' and stuff? Like an early access or beta test?" Alex finally got a sentence in.
"Exactly!… Well… not a beta test, more like an alpha test. I know I said it is mostly done. But honestly, the last guy we sent there played merchant and didn't have many opportunities to 'break' anything… He broke the market for a while, but did not find many 'bugs,' so either the system is mostly done, or his lifestyle did not allow many opportunities to do so… Where was that imbecile sent after he died?" Deez Nerd murmured to himself that last question.
"Anyway. First. Place your hand over the orb and then create your new 'self,' avatar, or whatever while I plan your insertion."
"I haven't said yes?"
Deez Nerd gave Alex a look that was worthy of a 'seriously' meme before continuing.
"Place your hand on the orb, look around, and then decide."
Alex reached toward the orb before him. Before he could ask how to place a hand he no longer had over it, he was welcomed to a character-creator screen worthy of a modern RPG. It was now his turn to give Deez Nerd an 'are you serious' face.
"What? What can I say? Your people got it right…"
He ignored the eccentric man and just started browsing through the settings. It was… overwhelming. The first section asked for a 'humanoid-race' input and had hundreds of options. Anything from normal human to the classics like elf and dwarf, but even those had many sub-races: sun-elf, night-elf, blood-elf, and many, many more.
What caught his attention, however, was a large number at the bottom that read 'SE.' Focusing on it gave him a small description of it. Soul Energy: 119. All races had a Soul Energy cost assigned to them. Some were only worth 10 SE, like 'Human.' However, there were others that went higher, like Silver-Elf that cost 50 SE.
On the right side of the character creator, there were base stats that his 'profile' came with. HP: 100, MP: 840. Focusing on them, they read as 'Health Power' and 'Mind Power.'
"How did you arrive at 119 soul energy for me, and the other stats?"
"Hmm? Oh, that… When you entered the system, it used a thing a predecessor of yours came up with. The HP should be 100 as a start. The SE is your age at death, because there is no way to measure that from Earth. And the MP is a karma-like analysis tool that reads your actions and inactions; it is 10 as a base stat."
"10? I got 840…"
"Eight-fort— What!?" He turned around and reached for the sphere that projected the profile or character creation screen.
"Ha!—Hahaha!" Deez Nerd started laughing so hard that the whole space around them trembled. He only stopped laughing like a maniac when tears came down his face, and seemingly having lost his voice.
"Are you done? Care to explain what is so funny?"
"You're not going to like it…"
"Try me."
"There seems to be a running 'joke' in your world that someone who is still a virgin at thirty becomes a wizard… And… well. You got—three times that—and then some… That and your other actions."
"Whatever, more MP for me… Is there a way to sort this 'human-race' thingy?" He waved dismissively. He had come to terms with it for a long time now. Deez Nerd also did not push further and just gave him a questioning look.
"Hmm? Just use the search bar on top. I'm sure there is a race you might like."
"Sure… But I would like to compare them, like, why is one worth more SE than the other and stuff."
"Oh! Yes, nice one. See, you haven't even accepted the job and are already giving results!"
Deez Nerd waved his hand. Suddenly the interface changed a bit; there were new buttons for sorting, but there was also a rush of 'power' that filled Alex's being. His awareness was brought to the SE number, and he saw that it had grown by 5.
〔 SE: 119 ► SE: 124 〕
"What? Was that worth 5 years!?"
"No. Soul Energy is a number that is used in the Geas system. It measures growth. But we do not have an accurate way to measure it from Earth; it is not as simple as Mind Power. You will understand it better once you make your new 'self' and even better once you go down there and start doing stuff… By the way. Be sure to fill in your name section; the last time an idiot forgot to do that, they got chased and killed. They thought them a changeling or something."
Alex looked at the section where he needed to input his name. He was about to ask for a keyboard or something, but then remembered that just by thinking about browsing the other stuff, they reacted to his intentions without a mouse. So he just thought of his name, and it was written.
"Can I choose any name? Will choosing another fuck my soul or something?"
"Choose whatever. Even better, choose a name that 'speaks' to you. One that you identify yourself with. You can change it on Geas later, but I don't recommend it. It's expensive, and they see it as a weird thing to do; only criminals or runaways do that in the first place."
"Okay." Alex thought for a moment. He had never liked his name. Early in his life, it got mixed up with a girl's name since the names Alexander and Alexandra were both abbreviated as 'Alex.' So there was a time that he hated it a little. He thought for a moment and chose a new one. One that just came to his mind and probably meant nothing.
〔 Name: Aizel Kadashi_ 〕
Then he continued with the race part and began sorting by HP, MP, SE cost, and even other stats like strength, dexterity, and others.
"Hey, Mr. Nerd. You told me about the base stats, but what about this strength, Dex, and others?"
"Hmm? Oh, yeah. Those are not like the others; they are measurements. On other systems, they do work like in games from your old world, but this system just uses them as measurements. If you are a giant, you will have more strength; if you are a craftsman, better dexterity, etc. Health Power affects them all."
Aizel continued to browse for a while. Noticing how, from the moment he used his new name, he started to think of himself by his new name. After some browsing, he concluded that the 'human' race was like a baseline, a jack-of-all-trades, average above all stats. Other of the more 'classic' races had stats that compared to their fantasy counterparts. Elven races had higher Dex but lower Str; dwarfs had higher Str and Dex but low Speed. Others came with debuffs that were shown in a small description, like sunlight sensitivity for vampires. Others, like Were-Wolves, had higher base stats across the board but had a higher SE cost to 'purchase' with no real debuffs.
The race that spoke to him the most was the Were-Dragon at 95 SE. It was one of the most expensive choices available, second only to the Dragon-Born variant, which cost a full 100 SE.
Another came close behind, a less expensive one called Dragon-Man for 80 SE. The difference being that the Were-Dragon could shape-shift into a dragon-like form that still had a lot of human left even after transforming. The Dragon-Born seemed to be stuck in a more draconian form. And the Dragon-Man could shift between a normal human and an actual dragon, a quadruped with long wings. All three of them fell under the Dragon-Kin umbrella.
When comparing them to races like Were-Wolf, Wolf-Born, and Wolf-Man, it appeared that it was more of the same; the 'Were' form could shift into a more human-like appearance, the 'Born' variant was stuck as a more animalistic one, and the 'Man' version turned into a large wolf.
The Born variants were much stronger and had higher stats overall, but came with significant caveats. Dragon-Born had a lust for killing and fighting that was akin to a compulsion or addiction that was not present in the Were variants. And the Dragon-Man version just seemed impractical, with worse stats than the Were and Born subspecies.
Aizel selected the Were-Dragon race and was left with 29 SE.
The Were-Dragon came with a lot of nice stuff. First, there were the senses. It was an apex predator. It came with electroreception like sharks and platypuses, wind and pressure sense like spiders, thermal vision, night vision, magnified vision like birds of prey, and hearing and smelling better than all the other races except for the Born variant. And all the senses were even better than crazy races like angels and demons, and even some mana senses only available on other high-SE races that he had no idea what they were for.
It even came with wings! It had huge webbed wings larger than its body, probably the size of a hang glider, that could be 'magically stored' into two large flat scales on its shoulder blades—that was the 'Were-' part. The wings, horns, snake-like prehensile tail, and scales could also be 'stored' in large scales across its body. It also had two hearts, and it read that it could survive, and even thrive, with only one.
Deez Nerd mentioned that this world had some kind of guided evolution. So whoever came up with this race was probably thinking: 'How can I make the single most ridiculously broken apex predator imaginable?' It was scary to think that there were other creatures like this flying free in Geas' ecosystem.
'Good thing I found it, though.'
Then he was left with the character creation section. He was about to ask Deez Nerd for sliders and stuff, but then he realized that he could control the shape of the 'self' with his mind. He noticed that he could control everything from height and muscle mass to the details of his face and age.
When he gave a more 'buffed' appearance, he also noticed that his Str stat grew and his SE fell.
"Hey, when I change my muscle mass, the SE falls—"
"Yes, yes. You can use all your remaining SE in micromanaging those, or keep them for later use on Geas."
"You haven't explained much about how to use them there, though."
"I already explained a lot to you; the blinder you go, the better results for me."
He chose to ignore the man; it was probably not a good idea to annoy him too much. He spent a lot of time on his new body; he based his face on his memories of various actors that even he found attractive. Mainly from the superhero movies' golden age in the 2010s. Curiously, he could not change the color of his eyes. He was stuck with this weird iridescent shine that reminded him of mantis shrimps. Probably because of all the crazy sensorial input packed into them.
But he could choose the color of his scales. He could choose any color but red, black, or purple—for some reason. So he chose an electric blue that seemed to change to almost violet at certain angles; it reminded him of the unnatural tones of some butterflies that used nanostructures instead of pigments.
Aizel wanted to make himself taller than when he was Alex, because why not? But this thing did not have any sliders or units in sight, so he asked its current 'developer.'
"Yo, Nerd. Can I get a ruler or a slider with numbers?"
"No."
" … Why?" Aizel tentatively asked.
"We did that once already. It— How tall do you want to make yourself?" Deez Nerd did not finish his first thought and then just gave him a tired glare.
"About ~2.1 m, or around 7 feet in freedom units?"
The Nerd waved his hand and the height of his new self was slightly altered, so he was not that far off to begin with. "There. Eyeball it from there."
That cost him some SE; surprisingly, the 'uglier' he made himself, the less SE he spent. How this thing knew what made someone attractive was beyond him.
He was not about to live his second life as an ugly duckling if given the chance. He was not an ugly guy before, but he was also not cinema-worthy levels of 'hot,' so in the end he used more SE for those changes. That, alongside the body shape and muscle mass, left him with only 5 SE to spend.
Then he got curious and came to the lower section of his body. His legs could be covered with scales just like most of his body. Thanks to the Were-part of his new race, except for his face, hair, palms, feet, and curiously, the inner part of his thighs. A blade could easily enter there and bleed him to death. So he got curious. But before removing the boxers of his avatar, he had to ask something of Mr. Nerd.
"Hey, Deez Nerd, what is the technological level of this world?… Geas?"
"Stagnant Medieval." He answered matter-of-factly.
Aizel let the metaphorical air he was holding go. Magic would be less fun with a more advanced world. He had assumed that the world he was going to be sent to was medieval, given how these people were treating this like an isekai, and was relieved to find it to be the case.
"But there are some firearms, ooparts, artifacts, and other weird stuff here and there. Both magical and normal. Nothing too fancy but— I've already said too much. Anyway, blame your predecessors and their need to have a weaponized and other advantages, not that it does too much in the face of some— Hurry up! Your soul is deteriorating." He changed the subject.
"How much time do I have?"
"Time flows weird here from your POV; from mine, you spent both a decade and a few seconds."
"Well, a simple reference would be nice to have, you know, nothing fancy, just a receding bar or a countdown to see the time I have left… You've already assumed a lot from me since I came here. I could have interpreted that my time here was finite by a simple guide."
"Hmm…" Deez Nerd waved his hand again, and a simple line that receded toward the center appeared, giving Aizel a reference to know how much time he had left in this realm between realms. It was followed by another rush of energy and extra SE. "Like I said, sweet Earth knowledge."
〔 SE: 5 ► SE: 10 〕
Aizel removed the boxers from his avatar and was welcomed by a Draconian dick.
It was a mixture of a lot of animal genitalia, just like a dragon. With a thought, he made it erect and 'zoomed in.' It was veiny, had a respectable size, good girth, and a nice head once it was without its hood. With two lines of small knuckle-like protrusions at each side of the thick vein at its base, all across its length from tip to base, and another ribbed line on the top, starting below the head. It had some interesting, less pronounced textures all around it and even a knot at its end. A true-to-form, Draconian penis that could proudly sit on a bad website with a similar name.
Aizel was stunned for a few moments before the shortening bar reminded him that he was on a schedule.
He got to work on it. He probably spent more time on this single body part than he would like to admit. He modified it, so the protrusions were in the right spot for maximizing female pleasure, reducing their size at times so they would not get stuck in case of deepthroat.
'You never know…'
Modified its girth and length to be something worthy of a hardcore porn film without being too dangerous. He might be a virgin. But he had consumed enough porn to know what a good Draconian dick would need to be erotic without sending every female running away in fear.
With a final nod, he allowed it to go limp. That little stunt consumed most of his SE and his time. He shifted between the human and full Dragon form and saw that the dick did not change between forms. 'Huh. Most curious.' With a final spin of the avatar, he gave it its fancy boxers back and turned toward Deez Nerd.
"Say, why is the dick customization so… thorough?" Aizel asked.
"You have another Earthling to thank for that one. All of you do the same. You bunch of freaks."
"How many other Earthlings are on Geas?"
"None. There were a few before you. And travelers from other realms. But right now, you will be the sole 'Alpha tester' or 'realm-traveler.' You might come across the descendants of your predecessors, or not; they might have all died out by now. I do not really pay attention to that place aside from the system itself. Now, come here; you are almost out of time."
"I haven't accepted, though…"
"Yeah… You want me to believe that you spent that much effort just to say no? Dragon Dick."
Aizel came closer to the table, and Deez Nerd zoomed in with a very Earth-like gesture. The view changed as if one was looking through an eagle or an ultra-high-quality satellite, showing him a large valley, forests, plains, mountains, some mounds, and rivers.
"First things first." He waved his hand, and a scroll appeared in his hand, and a few SE points were deducted from him.
"Hey!"
"Shut up. This is probably the most important part. The moment you touch down, you will unroll this and (Infuse) it with your mana. It will give you the ability to read, write, and speak the language of Geas. If you fail to do so, you will have to learn it the old-fashioned way, or get killed for being annoying."
"How do I—"
"Shh!"
"Wait, touch down?"
"Plausible deniability. I will (Teleport) you high into this valley. You will have wings now, so learn to use them. You will fall into this part of the forest, the NORTH side of this mountain range."
He gave Aizel the scroll and motioned to the hyper realistic hologram view of the valley. A thin line with arrows alongside it. Dropping from high in the sky towards a valley north of a mountain range that extended from east to west. Then it spiraled and waved across a forest. Crossing the mountain range at the south. Ending up in a town that had stone fortifications that looked to be still under construction, missing only thin walls away from its center.
"You will have to hunt for a while inside this forest area. It should be easy for the race you chose. Once you hit at least level ten, you can then go into this village, town, whatever this thing over in the south is. If you eat monster meat, cast (Purify) over the meat. Or anything suspicious. You should have the knowledge needed to unlock the skill right away. I think it evolves from (Clean)."
'You think? Fuck face.'
"I would send you with more resources. But you spent your last SE on your dick, so…"
"But I still have points left."
"Good. At least you won't go naked! I will send you with modified jeans and a shirt from Earth. Good luck explaining that one, he-he." He waved his hand again, removing the last of his SE. His new 'self' now wore black jeans and a brown T-shirt.
The line signaling how much time he had left was blinking with less than a fingers width left.
'Huh, that is a lot of functionality he achieved with a thought.'
"Now, do you accept the job, Aizel… Kadashi? He-he. Fancy."
"Yes, I—"
"Good luck then. Bye!"
Deez Nerd pushed Aizel back and waved his hand. Aizel's vision went white and then black.
— — —
Assigner of- appeared before Deez Nerd with a frown.
"Was it necessary to send him so high up in the air?"
"No."
"Then why?—"
"It will make things easier for him… Or go splat into the forest."
