Shi Lang charged at the lightning with a world shaking roar. The lightning hit his body, and the Terran replied with a blow of his own, “Asura Fist, Lightning Punch.”
The seemingly simple blow held a lot of strength behind it. Shi Lang wasn’t holding back and his punch caused the void to twist. The Terran unleashed the strongest punch that he could muster. The small fist dragged the void behind it and the twisted void collided with the lightning bolt, and the aftermath caused the void to crack in various places.
Shi Lang was flung away and directly crashed on the ground. The Terran had never been rendered like this in the first bolt of the tribulation ever. On the ground, there was a shallow crater under him.
The Terran chuckled as he stood up. His clothes fell away as they turned to ashes. He chuckled looking at the sky and said, “So, you have finally decided to stop holding back? Old Tribulation, you held a grudge against me all these years, didn’t you.”
A face manifested amongst the clouds. It was condensed with lightning. The sharp features of the face were humane, and the person said, “I am a heavenly being designated to test if you are worthy to exist in this world after defying the will of the heavens. I never held any grudge against you. However, you ought to understand something simple here, boy. If you provoke me, I will not mind going ahead and destroying this realm. Once you all die, the next generation will replace you, and it is that simple.”
Shi Lang chuckled and said, “I am not trying to provoke you. However, I cannot stand your suppression as well. It is a simple contest of wills, Old Tribulation. Come, test me all you want.”
The Tribulation replied, “So be it.”
The next moment another lightning bolt descended on Shi Lang. This bolt was half in thickness, but it was faster and twice stronger than the bolt earlier. Shi Lang clenched his fists and his body began to glow like gold. He didn’t get the time to fight the bolt, and could only use his forearms to defend his face from getting struck there.
The lightning bolt hit his guard and Shi Lang was pushed back by an entire kilometer, his forearms were burned to coke, and his jade bones were visible. That was not all even his internal organs were damaged. The Terran coughed and he spat some blood on the side. His cultivation realm was high so the injuries began to heal.
However, even now he didn’t ask any of his spiritual artifacts to come forward and fight alongside him. Shi Lang believed in a simple fact, that every living being had a thought process and will of their own. While nothing could effect his will, he would not impose his will on the rest of the people either.
He took out a pill from his space ring and swallowed it. Shi Lang channeled the energy of the pill to heal his organs and then channeled the rest of it to heal his arms. His body reached the peak once again. As he raised his head, the third bolt was upon him. It was even thinner than the last one, and it fell through the void leaving behind cracks in the space.
Shi Lang bellowed, “Holy Shura Body.”
His body turned into jade, and it was covered with golden runes. The Terran took out his Dao weapon and slashed it continuously at the incoming lightning bolt. The clash of the attacks was intense, Shi Lang was flung away while in the diameter of two kilometers from the point of contact, everything evaporated as if it never existed.
Shi Lang landed on the ground, while he was safe, his Dao Sword was broken. It was something that Shi Lang didn’t expect, but he understood it well enough. This lightning was not a simple thing that he faced during the tribulations prior to this. This lightning contained the Dao Runes of destruction.
They were purely coming after him with nothing else but pure destructive energy. This was why he couldn’t even absorb them inside his body. Shi Lang took a few deep breaths, his right palm was scalded from holding the sword. However, he stood up again with a determinant gaze.

In the bunker, Shi Tao clenched her fists and asked, “Why are his spirit weapons staying back? What is the use of them?”
Her aura was causing the people to feel stifled and Tian Long said, “Child, you ought to remember where we are.”
Shi Tao snorted and took back her spiritual pressure and Tian Long continued, “The weapons cannot help him much, if they did, than Shi Lang will loss out on the rewards that follow the tribulation. When have you ever seen him suffer like this? This was only the third bolt, there are six more left. If he uses a weapon with a spirit, the difficulty will double, because they are bot sentient beings, and the tribulation’s purpose is to test Shi Lang’s soul assimilation with Dao. It is not going to be easy that he could use his weapons.”
The explanation didn’t make much sense and Yu Xeidi glared at Tian Long a little before she said, “A weapon that is afraid of protecting its owner is useless. If someday my sword develops a spirit but it fails to even step up to protect me, I will destroy it with my own hands, regardless of the consequences.”
As she said this, her sword trembled, as if displaying protest over her assumptions.

Shi Lang wiped the dirt from his face and healed his body. Even with the jade body, the bones were rattled to the point where he found standing on his feet a heavy task. Shi Lang took a few deep breaths and took out another pill as he said, “You are strong, Old Tribulation, forcing me to eat two pills in a day. Rejoice.”
The fourth bolt of lightning flashed through the void. Shi Lang didn’t even have the time to raise his hands to make a cross guard when the bolt was almost upon his face. However, the next moment, he spotted a sharp spearhead covered with golden lightning colliding against the bolt of lightning, and splitting it in two.
Shi Lang subconsciously raised his hands to grab the shaft as he swung the spear down and said, “Shura Split.”
The fourth bolt was dissolved, but then the clouds rumbled and Shi Lang saw the rubble levitating in the void. A man fell from the sky, and stood on the ground. The man was made up of lightning and it wore a battle armor, with a spear in its hand. The Tribulation said, “The fifth bolt. Are you ready, boy?”
