Chapter 1697: Chi Chan Accepts The Responsibility

When the Supreme Hall Master of the Imperial Beast Hall expressed his stance, everyone knew that there was no chance Chi Li would become the Patriarch.

The entire square was filled with cries of amazement and awe, but Chi Chan stood as still as a statue. She hadn't spoken a word ever since she arrived, yet Li Luo had methodically and violently torn down every single obstacle in her path. He wanted to make sure that she wouldn't run into any issues after she took over the Chi family, so he had taken the initiative to draw Lin Miao out and use overbearing means to force a decision out of him.

Chi Chan was utterly taken aback by what she had just witnessed; she found this more surprising than when Li Luo single-handedly dealt with the three Triple Crowned Devil Kings. It wasn't because Lin Miao was stronger than three Devil Kings, but because of her perception as a resident of the Mythical Spirit Divine Continent. From a young age, she held the Imperial Beast Hall in deep reverence, and Lin Miao was the unmatched overlord of all of the powers in the East Sea Region.

However, that idea had been overturned today. Just how shocking and impressive was this?

Chi Chan's beautiful eyes focused on Li Luo's back as she felt complicated feelings arise within her. At this point, he turned around to meet her gaze. The unyielding and fierce look he had when facing Lin Miao and the rest quickly softened.

"Mentor Chi Chan, it's time for you to complete the succession," he said with a grin.

Chi Chan's heart trembled uncontrollably. Her path had been paved and she simply had to walk forward. Although she deeply disliked this place, this was her home. She had many ties left to this place, and when she escaped alone all those years ago, she never thought that she would set foot here again. Who could have expected that she would not only return, but the entire structure of the Chi family would change with her arrival.

All of this was because of Li Luo. She felt immensely fortunate, and she was glad that she had made the right choice when she picked Li Luo as her student at the Astral Sage College.

In front of everyone's eyes, Li Luo led Chi Chan to stand before the old Patriarch.

"Greetings, Patriarch," said Chi Chan, bowing respectfully.

Chi Wenwu had a complicated expression as he looked at the lady before him. It had been hundreds of years since a member of the branch family had taken the position of leader. Originally, something like this would have been impossible. However, the youth who stood behind him possessed the power to reshape the rules as he desired.

"Your Excellency Li Luo, when Chi Chan becomes the Matriarch, I'll use a secret art to pass down my strength and allow her to break through the Pinnacle Duke Stage and become a King. However, I'm not sure how Your Excellency plans to deal with Chi Li," said Chi Wenwu deferentially.

"He is fully sealed, and I will teach Mentor Chi Chan how to control the seal. With it, she will have full control over him. If any difficult tasks arise in the future, you can let him take care of them," Li Luo indifferently replied.

This sealing art was known as the Godly Halo Sealing Art, one of the Sacred Void Resonance Sect's sealing arts that belonged specifically to the Sect Master. It was one of the things he had learned from the Pill Saint when he was in secluded cultivation. Chi Li would be unable to break the seal unless he became stronger than the person who applied it.

Chi Wenwu felt a chill run through his body. Li Luo was truly vicious for forcing Chi Li to become a laborer for Chi Chan. From this day forth, Chi Li's life would be in the palm of her hand, which was actually a good thing. Chi Li was still a Single Crowned King, and killing him would be a waste, as he had used the family's resources to reach that stage.

After Chi Chan accepted the legacy, she'd also become a Single Crowned King, so the Chi family's power would be maintained. Most importantly, Li Luo was standing behind her, so their position in the East Sea Region would be truly unique.

With that in mind, Chi Wenwu reached into his robes and took out the Chi Family Head's golden seal. He then passed it solemnly to Chi Chan before everyone's eyes. Chi Chan received it with both hands.

The branch family erupted into cheers, while the main family was left with complex thoughts and silence. Seeing how divided the scene was, it was clear that Chi Chan's future role as the Matriarch would not be easy. She would first have to resolve the enmity between the branches, and that would undoubtedly involve bloodshed. However, Li Luo believed that Chi Chan was more than capable of accomplishing that. While his mentor seemed cold on the outside, she was decisive and sharp. Otherwise she wouldn't have made the call to resign as a mentor and block House Lanling.

"Congratulations, Matriarch Chi Chan." The leaders of the other powers respectfully offered their well wishes to her. Chi Li, on the other hand, had basically been forgotten. After Chi Chan received the gold seal, she stood by Li Luo's side and returned their polite compliments.

Her eyes then turned towards the branch family, and two people who she had thought about day and night appeared in her view. The situation had been stabilized and she could no longer hold back the longing in her heart. Tears welled up in her eyes as she took a step forward, appearing before her parents.

"Father, Mother, your daughter has returned." Tears fell from Chi Chan's eyes as she removed her veil, revealing her gorgeous face.The Ichthyic curse that had once plagued her had long been cleansed.

Her father, the man with a missing arm, looked at his graceful daughter. She was young and spirited when she left, and now she had matured into an elegant and wise woman.

"Chan'er, the years must have been cruel to you!" Her mother immediately started bawling, tightly embracing Chi Chan.

As Chi Chan hugged her mother, her tears streamed down her fair cheeks. The surrounding members from the branch family all showed eager and flattering expressions. No matter how resentful they felt when Chi Chan ran away to escape the marriage, leading to Chi Li oppressing them, it didn't matter any longer. After all, Chi Chan was now the leader of their family.

Chi Song, on the other hand, quietly took in the reunion from a few meters away. A moment later, he lightly cleared his throat. "Don't neglect your honored guest."

Chi Chan's parents were awakened from their little world and were shocked to realize that the terrifying youth was still standing behind Chi Chan. He was simply smiling warmly without a hint of the imposing presence he had displayed earlier.

"Federation Chief Li Luo, thank you for taking care of our daughter." Both parents bowed deeply towards him.

Li Luo grinned and waved his hand, causing a formless and gentle power to wrap around the two and lift them up. "There's no need to be polite. Mentor Chi Chan and I go back a long way, and she was the one who had protected me in the past."

Both parents glanced at each other, unsure of the nature of the relationship their daughter and Li Luo had. Either way, their deep friendship was clear for all to see. Li Luo then exchanged a few more pleasantries and flew away, no longer interrupting their precious reunion.

After a few moments, he vanished into the depths of the void. Lin Miao, the Mysterious Flame King, and the Green Pine King were waiting for him there.

Lin Miao was the first to speak. "Federation Chief Li Luo, you must have come to the Mythical Spirit Divine Continent for the Dragon Race's Ten Thousand Dragons' Ancestral Blood Rites. I assume you received one of the available slots?"

Li Luo's eyebrows rose quizzically, but he didn't feel very startled by the question. The Spirit Beasts' Realm was located just north of the Beast Tamer's Alliance, and the Dragon Race was the top faction there. There, it was not at all strange that Lin Miao knew about the Ten Thousand Dragons' Ancestral Blood Rites. What was surprising was that Lin Miao was aware of the situation regarding the slots.

"Do you also have a slot?" Li Luo asked as he sized Lin Miao up. The other party was a Triple Crowned King and also the head of the Beast Tamer's Alliance. Most importantly, he knew that Lin Miao possessed a Poison Dragon resonance. This fulfilled the criteria for those chosen by the Divine Continent Federation.

Lin Miao smiled and nodded. "It looks like we will be making our way there together, Federation Chief Li Luo. However, I'm curious if you're just planning to refine your body or if you're aiming for the Ancestral Atavism Baptism, which will bolster your foundation and prepare you for the Heavenly Emperor Stage breakthrough."

Li Luo calmly replied, "What do you mean? Why else would I go there?"

Lin Miao nodded. "If you plan to use the Ten Thousand Dragons' Ancestral Blood Rites to refine your body, then things will proceed smoothly. However, if your goal is the Ancestral Atavism Baptism, then I'm afraid the ruler of the Dragon Race, the Heavenly Dragon Chieftain, will not approve."
