Chapter 1620: Corruption Seed Fusion

As Shen Jinxiao’s mad laughter sounded out from the black heart, the blood sea began to toss wildly. The Golden Armored Giant started floating towards the heart. Although he had been grievously injured, it was obvious he had not died, as there was still life in his body. Furthermore, furious roars could be heard coming from his chest. This was because he could sense that if he was absorbed by the black heart, he would die.

The Golden Armored Giant was absolutely fuming. The entire Origin Reversion Institute was just filled with bad eggs. It was awful enough that one supposed teammate had ambushed him, but the other one actually wanted to devour him completely! If he had known, he would have killed them long ago.

Shen Jinxiao's voice came from the black heart. "Golden Armor, there's no need to think about resisting. The Emptiness Heavenly Emperor has told me that you're just nutrients for me to grow. I will be the only Ultimate Devil Corruption Seeds of this generation who succeeds."

The heart began to beat faster, seemingly excited by the prospect. As the sound of its pounding echoed out, the Golden Armored Giant's burly figure began to collapse, all of his flesh and blood withering away. In just a few short moments, everything had vanished. The only thing that remained was a mote of black light. Within that light was an indescribably ominous-looking black seed.

It had absorbed the Golden Armored Giant's resonant power, flesh, and blood.

An unstoppable suction force emanated from the heart as soon as the seed appeared.

Jiang Qing'e's gaze sharpened as she roused the light resonant power within her body, launching an attack with the Holy Phoenix Parasol that resembled a glorious rainbow. Her target was the Ultimate Devil Corruption Seed. Her plan was straightforward: to thwart Shen Jinxiao's scheme.

However, just as she took action, the pitch-black heart began to spew out noxious, sooty smoke that blotted out the skies, blocking the Holy Phoenix Parasol's attack. This power originated from the talisman that Shen Jinxiao had received from the Emptiness Heavenly Emperor. As long as it had energy, Li Luo and Jiang Qing'e would be unable to stop him. The moment the Golden Armored Giant was absorbed, Li Lingjing was affected by some sort of external influence. The Ultimate Devil Corruption Seed between her brows began to spread countless black blood tendrils. They felt like maggots crawling all over her pale face. Then her face twisted with pain.

"Cousin Lingjing!" Li Luo rushed to Li Lingjing's side, his expression solemn and his heart filled with anxiety. As expected of the Origin Reversion Institute's creations, all of them were incredibly strange and evil, riddled with all sorts of hidden traps.

"The Ultimate Devil Corruption Seed is far too dangerous. Let me destroy it for you."

Li Luo clenched his teeth and turned his hand into a claw imbued with the Greater Void Resonance Flame. This flame had the ability to refine energy, so it could possibly harm the Ultimate Devil Corruption Seed. He brought the claw down toward the Ultimate Devil Corruption Seed on Li Lingjing's forehead, but just before he struck, her slender hand caught his.

"Li Luo, you can’t destroy it." Her voice was hoarse, but her determination was clear.

It had been difficult to come as far as she had, and she had endured untold amounts of pain each step of the way. If the Ultimate Devil Corruption Seed was destroyed, all of her effort would be wasted. She had chosen this path, and there was no turning back. Although the strength she had obtained was not her own, and the Origin Reversion Institute could take it back at any moment, she refused to give up.

"If you let things proceed this way, Shen Jinxiao will consume you!" Li Luo said anxiously.

She softly replied, "No one will know who will consume whom until it’s over. I have the advantage in this situation."

Li Luo was naturally worried about her. Shen Jinxiao had assistance from the Emptiness Heavenly Emperor, so how could she possibly compete?

However, with Li Lingjing's risk-taking nature, a ninety percent chance of death wouldn't faze her. After all, she had spent the past few years dancing on the edge of death and had long grown numb to it. Thus, when she felt the changes in her own Ultimate Devil Corruption Seed, she made no attempt to resist it. As a result, her body disintegrated before Li Luo's eyes.

The Ultimate Devil Corruption Seed glowed dimly as it consumed her, leaving only the Aquamarine Bamboo Python Staff. Li Luo picked it up as he watched the Ultimate Devil Corruption Seed that Li Lingjing had transformed into shooting towards the pitch-black heart.

Now that all three seeds were unified, the heart began to change. It looked as though a shell had formed over its surface, but numerous blood vessels crawled across it.

The entire blood sea fell silent.

Li Luo then stowed away the Aquamarine Bamboo Python Staff, his gaze turning sharp. If the heart opened up and what emerged was Shen Jinxiao instead of Li Lingjing, he would make sure the man was reduced to a pile of bloody mush. He would also rip her out of his body.

Cousin Lingjing had helped him countless times, so he would never give up on her!

He looked towards Jiang Qing'e, and she could sense his determination. A smile surfaced on her face. She nodded, indicating she would do anything to help him.

The two started to summon up all their resonant power.

The heartbeat began to slow down, and it soon stopped altogether.

The talisman began to dim, indicating that the Emptiness Heavenly Emperor's power was dissipating.

Li Luo and Jiang Qing’e’s eyes sharpened. They were waiting for it to vanish completely. At that point, they would use all their strength to destroy the heart and prevent Shen Jinxiao from devouring the other two.

A few moments later, the talisman lost all power.

Li Luo and Jiang Qing'e didn't hesitate. They unleashed all of their resonant power, turning it into a barrage of attacks that blasted towards the heart. Majestic resonant power pillars shattered the void, causing huge waves in the sea beneath.

Just as the attacks were about to strike the heart, the shell crumbled. Two pale hands grew out, each with a vertical mark on the palm. The marks slowly opened up, revealing two Ultimate Devil Corruption Seeds. Terrifying corruption source origin poured out, wrapping around the pale hands and giving it frightening power.

The hands caught Li Luo and Jiang Qing'e's attacks and squeezed, shattering them.

The duo's pupils contracted upon seeing the way their attacks were casually neutralized.

Just who had come out?

Li Luo's expression fell upon seeing who it was.

Shen Jinxiao was the one who had emerged victorious. His entire body was covered in blood as he walked out of the destroyed heart, and he had a cheery smile on his face.

A soft but murderous voice rang out across the sea. "Li Luo, don't you think you're a little too naive? Did you really think that Li Lingjing would be the one to come out? It's about time our enmity comes to a close. I missed the chance to kill you years ago, and now it's time for me to make up for it."
